Kingdomino Board Game $19 (Was $25) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $65 Spend) @ Kmart

750

Note: This is a post update, original credit goes to 'cannedhams'.

Good to see Kmart stocking a couple more designer board games. This one is really fun particularly if you have children. I recommend watching this playthrough rather than reading the ruleset in the first instance:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smbwBPmP4Ms

This is a short, easily accessible game for even young children, still fun for grownups.

It gets a 7.4 from Board Game Geek which is remarkable for a game this simple, most of the top rated games over there come with a ruleset that would take you half a lifetime to learn:- https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/204583/kingdomino/rating…

Great game. Easy, quick and always different

A great game, works from 5 or 6 years upwards. Still plenty of strategy for adults.

We printed 5x5 grids and laminated them, helps the kids out a bit.

      • That's not a bad idea, but as we have differing ages we make the older one play by the rules and the younger one doesn't have to stick to 5x5, which works to level things out.

Also if you use a grid, you need to tell them the home castle can be anywhere, but that should be too hard

  • This or Queendomino?

Kingdomino is more simple and elegant.

Queen domino is a bit messier but more complex and has more depth to it.

That said, with queendomino it starts to enter into the zone where it's competing with other more complex games.

      definitely Kingdomino for me.

    • both king and queen can be combined into an 8-player game

    • Queendomino if you're looking for more depth. Kingdomino is easier to pick up and play immediately though

  • great game, particularly with the 7x7 variant for two players and also with just the various goals from the Age of Giants expansion (I printed out cards from the TTS mod assets).

I might actually buy a second set so I can play 7x7 with 4 players.

  • One of my favourite 2 player games, incredibly short set-up and pack down game.

strongly recommend the 7x7 grid variant.
