How to Bridge The Belong 4353 Modem with The TP-Link Archer AX73 Router

hi, in the process of setting up my belong modem to use ax73 as router. FTTN

a friend said to bridge just:
1.set belong to bridge
2.rj45 cable connect from belong lan1 to archer wan,
3.turn off wifi on belong
4.set archer as access point, thats it.

at first all working but i cannot access the router setting (each device still receive ip address from belong ie 10.0.0.x)

so i tried to follow
https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/modem_to_router_bridging_guide

It's weird once I enable bridge I will loose access to the modem. How can I continue with the next step if I can't connect to it?
Also when i disable dhcp i was getting lots of issue as connected but no internet, and cannot access belong modem from 10.0.0.138.
from reading would it be possible that turning bridge option is enough, no need to disable dhcp?

is that link still valid? maybe the steps are not in the correct order? Really noob on this field. Thanks

This is OZ Bargain, not OZ internet support like whirlpool. Better asking on whirlpool.

      @Twix

  • set archer as access point, thats it.

    There is the mistake.

It's weird once I enable bridge I will loose access to the modem. How can I continue with the next step if I can't connect to it?

That's normal. Next login to the TP-Link. To have the TP-Link configured as the router you have to go into the TP-Link advanced menu, operation mode, choose the router radio button and save.

    • So just below steps no need worry about that whirlpools link, (change modem ip, disable dhcp, etc)?

1.set belong to bridge (then i will lose access to the modem, how to access? Use rj45 to modem lan?)
      2. rj45 cable connect from belong lan1 to archer wan,
      3. turn off wifi on belong
      4. TP-Link advanced menu, operation mode, choose the router radio button and save.

      Ok will try now

      • Nah you don't need to change the modem IP.

        1. RJ45 from Belong LAN to TP-Link WAN.
        2. Turn off Wi-Fi on Belong modem.
        3. Turn on bridge on Belong modem.
        4. TP-Link advanced menu, operation mode, choose the router radio button and save.
        5. TP-Link basic menu, internet, internet connection type, dynamic IP and save.
  • Also i thought in modem bridge scenario, the router will provide ip is that correct? So all devices will have ip as 192.168.x.x (tplink) instead 10.0.0x (belong modem).
Or it doesnt matter which provide ip?
I prefer from ax73 as it is better than the belong default modem/router combo

    • Yeah the TP-Link will provide the IPs.

      • How to access belong modem if i need? Just occasionally
        The 10.0.0.138 doesnt work anymore

        • You probably will get locked out of the Belong modem once you turn on bridge mode.

@Twix: Yeah true. Even connecting rj45 from laptop to it, i cant. I will reset both and try again (i forgot to disable wifi on modem before enable bridge)

You can assign a static ip address for Belong modem from TP-Link's ip address pool to access it. Or just factory reset the Belong modem and you get access to it. However, you will have to repeat the bridging steps to have TP-Link taking over routing functions again.

          • @eddiefriedman: Oh i think i know this. I setup static for my NAS previously. Hmm doesn't work. I got the mac modem and set static under reserve screen setting. Nay other thing I need to do?
