Pricing error or scam? 8TB SSD

https://www.amazon.com.au/External-USB-C-Portable-Solid-Stat…

It's been a while since I thought about fake storage products

There are a few red flags for me here… 8TB, tiny size, no brand… But it's on Amazon which sort of counters these.

Anyone have any experience with this?

It's sold in Amazon, but not by Amazon. Just a marketplace seller essentially.

weird seller name, just launched, 3rd party, no product nor store reviews.. hmmm

But Amazon take responsibility for any issues, so worth a shot?

not as easy as Fulfilled by Amazon warehouse.

would probably need to follow A-Z guarantee dispute process
(which i'm in the middle of trying, for mine i need to ship the product back at my expense)

sometimes the seller or amazon just let you keep it, but not my case ..
(if they don't make detailed contact with you)

your choice if u wanna gamble $70

Not really. Amazon is just acting as a market place in this case. They're neither selling nor shipping the item so you'll need to deal with the 3rd party for any issues. I can pretty much guarantee this'll be the typical USB key in a housing formatted to report a false capacity.

    SSD 8TB Price: $78.42

    Yeah, nah. (facepalm).

    When a 512GB MicroSD cost more than a 8TB SSD…

Try it out and report back and lol why is it an affiliate link

    • I just copy the URL from the browser.. which part is an affiliate link?

      • My bad. It was marked affiliate link when you posted

Looks like a fake capacity USB, same as on eBay. It's not possible to sell 8TB of flash for that price yet.

  • Found the same fake listings on ebay… horrible reviews as you would expect

I didn't think this was really a big issue on Amazon. guess i'm still learning the ins and outs of the site

Tried reporting the seller to Amazon but chat guy said I would need to have purchased the product before reporting it as fake

    • Can you put a review saying you purchased the same thing somewhere else and it's fake?

  • (However I would try it on eBay with PayPal haha!)
