Insurance on an S20 Ultra

So my Samsung care+ is over as I've just swapped for the 2nd time. Any tips on single device insurance? I've used the RACV product before but it's no longer available. incidentally, I'm on a $30pm pre-paid recharge. Also, Samsung upgraded me from an s20 plus to an ultra on the first swap. Oh and I can almost guarantee ill break my phone once a year so I'm not keen to add it to my home and contents due to increased premiums.

Maybe be more careful with your phone or at least one thats more durable?
Not really the right attitude that'll garner much sympathy on here tbh

I personally wouldn't want to be subsidising someone that would go about saying that it's almost guaranteed they'll crash their car once a year.

  • Good idea mate! I think I'll also cancel my car insurance and just be more careful.

My phone is always in a case and has a screen protector so there isn't much more I can do.

    • You probably need a bigger/stronger case.

      • Yeah, I've gone as big as I can find. Unfortunately, the last drop was face down on a stone. Not many cases can protect against that.

        • Username checks out.

Tempered glass screen protector protects against it though. I've done it myself. Replacing a screen protector is much cheaper than a screen.

    • Get a cheapo phone and really durable case with a lanyard…

Check whether your credit card has phone insurance. I'm currently using Citibank Premier and by paying my monthly Telstra bill using the card, my phone is covered.

    For example: https://www1.citibank.com.au/help-and-support/complimentary-…

    • Great tip, thanks for that. I'll have a hunt for options.

      • Note that the phone would only be covered if you have postpaid not prepaid

My husband is the biggest klutz, drove over his new iPhone with a forklift, cracked the screen on his new s8+ twice. I got him the otterbox defender or something (all around case) and his phone is shatter free 3 years later, was about $70 but way cheaper than paying for a new screen all the time

otterbox and I think Lifeproof used to be the go. I like the fact your ozb name is bang on. As some suggested maybe get a cheaper phone even? Or find a CC insurance dealie, I use amex for mine but that is only screen and if it's less than 3 years.
