    Price matching Dan's

    • $15 delivery. edit: sorry, $9.90 standard delivery.

      • +1

Yeah but this is good for picking up in store.

        • +1

Definitely. In fact I might cancel my Amazon order and just pickup.

This is a pretty good substitute for Seagram's Seven which is impossible to get in Australia. Mix with Seven Up for a Seven and Seven, deliciously refreshing!

    • +1

Isn't 7 up just standard lemonade?

      • +2

It is, but 'Canadian Whisky & Lemonade' just doesn't have the same consonance ring to it as '7 & 7'. ;-)

Dan is the way to go - better discount through woolies rewards than on amazon

      • You realise that price matching is bad for consumers in the long run, right? Same for Bunnings price guarantee… Discourages other shops from having sales. 🤔

        • +1

It is actually the opposite, price matching is better for consumers in the long run, because it forces the prices down and the stores are conscious of their competitor's pricing, creating a better shopping/pricing environment for the consumers.

Bunnings and officeworks "price beat guarantee" is just another way for them to use consumers to crowd source information for them when their algorithms have failed (or are slow) to match prices on their competitor's website. As soon as a consumer brings this forward and it is recognised at the registers, their back end system will drop the prices to match it, or even cheaper by a couple of cents.

            @Vodafail: https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2015/02/12/g…
            https://blogs.cornell.edu/info2040/2015/09/17/price-match-gu…

With more loyal customers in the retail industry, customers are less likely to switch stores, and thus stores have a lower incentive to invest in campaigns target towards taking customers away from competitors. Also as a result of price-matching, there is much less benefit in lowering prices to try to undercut competitors because they know their competitors will just match their price. As a result, price-matching may leave both supermarkets better off.

          • @Vodafail: I take your point, and I can see how it may appear to keep prices lower across all stores, but I have to respectfully disagree.

Price matching discourages other retailers from attempting to compete on price because it immediately kills the advantage that the sale price offers.

This is especially true for highly motivated shoppers (ozbargainers), who would look around for sale prices and act on them. In other countries hardware stores routinely have sales on weekly with loss leaders to get customers in store. These are great opportunities to score bargains!

        • yep, a lot of tools bunnings same price as sydney tools as total tools ….. and if it’s a mail order only store they slap delivery ontop of price matches …….

There's bourbon, real bourbon - and then there's Canadian Club. And Canadians wonder why Americans look down at them

    • +4

This is a 100% rye whisky. Bourbon/American whiskey is at least 51% corn.
In my opinion, neither come close to a malted barley whisky.

      • At least the Scotch gets bottled there and retains its 40%Alc/V .. whereas this gets 'watered' down by the importers to 37%

    • Americans look down on everyone and are very wrong to do so.

    cc dry for the win.

Never go for these kind of liquor deals cos they just aren't bargains compared to what you can get 51 weeks out of the year from Liquorland or First choice deals.

For example, right now you can buy the exact same bottle for $54 from liquorland and score 2000 flybuys which is worth $10, as well as getting 8% cashback through cash rewards.

Quite often you can stack a 20% or better cashback promo at the same time which would bring it down even further!
