Samsung AU8000 Vs Hisense A7G Vs TCL C725?

So I'm in the market for a new TV and these are the options I've narrowed it down to. Been researching for days and just looking for advice on deciding.

The AU8000 I can pick up a 65" for $1100 because of a discount I get as a teacher so at the moment it's the best value deal I could find. Alternatively I could get a 55" and a sound bar and get a discount on that too.

The A7G is around $950 at the moment for a 65" as well or again I could go smaller.

The TCL 725 I'd have to go smaller as it's around $1000 for a 50".

Is there any other TVs in that price range that are worth a look? I'm happy to go smaller down to a 50-55" if the jump in quality is worth it (the Samsung discount I get is $200 off a $1200 spend so could just flesh out the purchase with something else). Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would pick the AU8000, I own one, just nice to have only because I have the smartthings app and I get a nice use out of it with my smarthome devices. Unsure about Hisense or TCL smarthome/app compatibility.

I own 2 different types, Mini LED & the LCD TV.
    A Q95T 65Inch (cost me 3.5k like 3 years ago) I got the AU8000 as a pre-order bonus for the Z fold 3.

I would get an OLED model instead of the Q95T as it has the usual dimming zone issues, if you have good perception it bothers me when subtitles come on and everything is dimmed, and when they go off the panel goes brighter etc.

    • Saw the AU8000 in store yesterday and it looked good! The TCL c725 looked just as good though and supposedly has a better screen Qled instead of Led?

      • I would recommend Samsung over TCL, just because of brand support in Australia.

Just look at app store, Samsung Smartthings app, over 850,000 reviews for over 4 star app, TCL at 2100 at 2.7 stars.

  • Have three of AU8000, really good and happy with them

On the size front, there's a substantial difference of sense of immersion between a 55" vs 65", depending on the budget for the sound bar (and if you can't swing for both) consider whether an increase in visual is worth more than auditory, you'll be looking at it for many years.

I'm so glad that I got the 65" years ago, was a Hisense, price have steadily come down since and I'm sure they've improved leaps and bounds, but mine was never able to update the firmware after troubleshooting, the remote was not as nice to use, and was not compatible with my previous android phone, but the latter you can eaily test in store if have access to one.

    • Yeah our distance from couch to TV is pretty big too so I'm leaning going bigger. In store I couldn't split the difference between the AU8000 and TCL 725 (the A7G actually looked worse to me)

      • Oh I'm not advocating Hisense or any other brand but merely the size. If you can see them in person bring along a USB or stream something that you're actaully likely to watch, the demo vibrant movies really makes no sense to a normal person who's watching 8hrs of sitcom/day. Then just pick whichever looks the best to you and has all the apps that you'd want.

  • Looking at 55inch AU8000
