I think most of us were just quietly enjoying it……
Having 'rydges' ticket sales go through the roof all of a sudden might not be a good thing…….

    • So do you say that about all the other bargains on here too?

      • -1

depends…… 'ozbargained' is not necessarily a good thing…

  • -7

boooo. now eveyone will know and we'll lose it :(

    • And that's a reason to neg?

      • yes
I'm just saying what everyones thinking

        • +1

Why would you lose it? It's a legitimate deal and a legitimate way of signing up to receive the offer.

With your argument, you're saying we shouldn't post anything on ozbargain as too many people might know.

        • -3

I must confess I wasn't being particularly serious…… however, there have been many instances where sheer numbers have impacted negatively on deals/hacks such as this…..

Somewhat selfish I know….. but I'd rather see 500 people fly under the radar of a deal, keeping it going, than 30,000 people knock it over…..

In this particular instance…. 30000 people signing up for rydges overnight, and the same 30000 presenting for cheap tickets tomorrow is definitely above radar……

        • One would think that if Rydges manages to get tens of thousands of new members from this promotion, it would be in their interest to keep it going as the advertising is obviously paying off. I doubt Event is losing anything on it either. It's obviously there to attract members, and if they can maintain a reason for people to keep the membership card in their wallet, then they in turn probably increase the chance of people booking rooms with them.

I can't see there being any real issue. People post NRMA/RACQ deals regarding theme park tickets and other things and year after year those companies are keen to remind the public they have those arrangements in place.

    Sweet
Rydges for VMAX and Optus for normal movies xD

    • Thats cool man :) I thought Optus wasnt available anymore…

  • Last time I used an optus discount at Morley cinema I was asked for my Optus card and told not to bother next time if I didn't have the card .

    • Did you tell him to shove it where the sun don't shine? Optus doesn't need a card as it's booked through OptusMobile and all you need is a phone with Optus for cheap tickets.

    • +1

I'm with Optus to my knowledge there's no such thing as an "Optus card"

      • +1

Wth you got a neg!? Let me even that out.

  • Never had an issue with Optus, you prob approached some guy who simply had a bad day.

  • If someone wants to buy some i have 12 for $100.

  • Just got back from Event Cinemas and paid $40 something for 2 tickets. Now I see this. fml.

    • +1

Yep it's an absolute rip . Add overpriced popcorn and cool drink and it's an expensive 2Hrs of entertainment .

      • You could always not add the popcorn and drink. Or if you must eat, bring something from home or go to the supermarket on the way to the cinema.

  • I posted this ages ago (almost two years and the process has changed http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30856)

I use Optus tickets on general and 3D and Rydges on VMAX.

  • Thanks for the deal, got myself a few tickets organised for the coming weeks now.

  • Not worth getting screensavers anymore when there are deals like this. Last night we had to pay $4 extra per tix for Vmax.

  • it works!

  • awesome!

  • i just booked 2 gold class tickets online (through another deal) and booking fee was $3.30 each = $6.60? Fark. It's criminal robbery.

  • I took the opportunity went to the event cinema on George Street this morning. I watched the Hunger Games in a vmax cinema almost all by myself.

They didn't ask for the rydges card, well, even if they ask, I am all prepared. All you need to do is login on their website, and register as a new member, than print a temperate card.

I am gonna to watch more movies with this discount. Does anyone know when is this gonna be expire?

    • +1

It's been around for years, so it probably shouldn't expire any time soon.

  • Hi guys,

Trying to use this promo but cant seem to get it to work.
Do you enter the promo code Rydges into the Enter a voucher, promo code or gift card: section after you have selected the session times?

    I am selecting
    Thanks all.

    Cheers.

    • yep, thats the field you enter it in, double check that you arent selected a 3D movie session.

after you enter the code, instead of selecting ADULT, a new field appears called "Rydges Loyalty Web", thats the one you select.

  • Thanks mate…

  • Ah yes, didnt take notice of that….you're a legend!
Just booked 2 for battleship vmax for $18!
    watta bargain!!!

    Thanks all!

  • -1

Its giving me $13 a ticket (Vmax), not $10…?

  • I think its slightly different prices depending on cinema location but not by much.
Just check the same booking i made at liverpool at parramatta and its $2 more!

    • you right, I didn't know they had diff prices at diff areas.
I checked 2 locations (near me) 1 was $20, other was $15 (before vouchers).
Also checked against the "NFT" sessions, it works.

Rydges code works out to be a-little over 10% discount (Brisbane south-side areas).

  • -1

Just tried it for Marion, and it worked on some VMax sessions but not others.

It sucks that they're only showing The Avengers in 3D. Means I'll have to pay $22.50 to go see it :(

    • You can get Avenges 3D for $17 if you need glasses and $16 if you don't using the optus hack just bring up the ticket page of the session you want and change the end of the web address from bookingsource=web_home to source=optus

      • Changing the source to optus on step2 and refreshing does not change the ticket prices for Morley, WA.
        /step2?sessionid=XXXXX&bookingsource=optus

        • +1

As per post not bookingsource=optus but source=optus does Morley even have Vmax?

  • The message "The voucher is not valid" appears when entering RYDGES for VMAX Battlefield in Innaloo, WA

    • looks like they changed it. does NOT include vmax sessions now

      • Are you sure it's not working? Seems fine here just tried to apply it to Battlefield VMAX Monday 23rd 9.30pm at Innaloo and it worked fine

        • fixed.

seems that its only a few select cinemas thats it is no longer working on. my local one was working 2 days ago, now its no longer working.

          thanks for the info.

  • I dont have a printer. Can I just save the PDF versions of the Rydges Card and Movie Booking Receipt to my phone instead?

Also is it one Rydges Card per movie ticket? Or could I use 1 Rydges card to book multiple movie tickets?

    • Ok just called them up, apparently the girl I spoke to confirmed I just needed to quote the booking reference number and all should be good.

  • Still works at both locations in WA for NON-3D movies (even after 5pm on Saturdays)
