I don't know if it's just me but I hate offers that reward you with masks and antigen tests. Very low from my perspective. I'm sure houses and cars and all sorts of things will give you these items as part of a sale soon. Lame.

Normally I'd be with you, but they're just giving you one of their cheapest products as a bonus/incentive. They sell only Silk products and their masks are silk.

I suspect the sales of cloth masks have tanked and now that the US CDC is recommending N95 masks for people, along with Dr Norman Swan suggesting fabric masks aren't really suitable anymore. So they're just moving stock.

Thanks for confirming it’s a useless gift

news is reporting cloth masks being ineffective

If you've got a beard, I suspect there's no significant difference in effectiveness (i.e. negligible effectiveness from both). Neither will seal properly around your mouth/nose. So there's still a market for cloth masks.

But if you have a beard, it's somewhat unlikely you'll be shopping at this particular shop…

      • But cloth/paper masks were always to protect others from you, not protect you from others. So the beard thing was really only for medical PPE where it was supposed to protect the wearer.

        • +1

I don't follow your logic. If you've got a beard, neither type of mask is effective for anyone - not the wearer, and not the general public around them.

I have a beard, and I'll continue to use cloth masks, so I don't have to keep buying and throwing out disposable ones.

          • @Russ: It's to stop the spread by coughing.

            • @M00Cow: I still can't see the difference. If I exhale or cough, at least 80% of that air exits through my beard, not through the mask. Droplets that are large enough to not exit via my beard will be caught by either type of mask.

  • Read the review for the eye mask… seems fake to me

  • hmmmmmmm silk jocks…..yum
