https://www.tga.gov.au/sites/default/files/covid-19-rapid-an…

You can find more information about the test kit on here
https://www.tga.gov.au/covid-19-rapid-antigen-self-tests-are…

The clinical sensitivity is classified as "acceptable" by TGA and the study finds that the antigen rapid test correctly identified 82.5% of infected study participants (identified 91.2% of infected study participants with a relatively high viral load) and 100.0% of non‑infected study participants. So It is probably not the best test kit available on the market.

Gmarket is a reputable online store in Korea, but grey-importers should take all potential responsibilities.

As per the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment website

https://www.awe.gov.au/biosecurity-trade/import/online-servi…

If you are importing RAT kits for personal use, they may be imported without a permit if they meet the conditions in the ‘COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RAT) kits for personal use’ BICON pathway.

Personal use only includes: a three-month supply for use by the person importing the goods; or for use by any spouse, de facto partner, child, parent or sibling of the person importing the goods.

Note personal consignments of COVID-19 RAT kits that are not approved for supply in Australia by the TGA (i.e. listed on the ARTG) may be referred to the TGA for assessment upon arrival in Australia.

Acceptable isn't a great sensitivity level.

      I certainly wouldn't accept it…

    • +3

I dont have any issues as it does the job and has been approved via the TGA.

If you want the best result don't buy a RAT kit rather line up for a drive-through testing clinic.

      did you call me?

  • TGA " Page not found " wrong link?

Just before someone thinks they’re clever and tried to resell this - it is illegal.
    1) The specific model is only approved for point of care by a professional not for home use.
    2) the instructions in this pack will not be the English one approved by the TGA - again making it illegal to resell

Its illegal but don't think it will stop anybody from doing it.
Its illegal to price gouge and to inflate costs but people is still doing it, and the government just doesn't care at prosecuting anybody.

IMO if you can wait a few weeks there will be ample tests available as there will be increase in supply and also we will be passed the COVID peak so less demand. Kind of like face masks and hand sanitizers 2 years ago.

Couldn’t agree more, literally millions and millions ready to go, I feel silly for buying a 4 pack for $50 knowing in a weeks time I can walk into any testing place or GP and get a 4 pack for free. I would recommend no buy these and wait, unless you have symptom got to PCR and grab some freebies

      • I hope that will be the case but unfortunately it won't happen imo. The RATs are not like masks where you buy one box you are set for weeks. One RAT is one RAT and the chaos in supply chain will only make it worse. There will be millions arriving in Feb but it won't even make a dent to the already hungry market. I have been in the wholesale niche of RATs since before Chirstmas and we can't even get what we ordered on time.

        • Do you think the issue is due to people using them more then needed or the fact people are so scared of missing out they are snapped up?
I bought the 4 pack so if I have symptoms or before going to visit my grandparents or a hospital etc I can use 1, know I’m safe, the only other time I have used a RAT is for Christmas Day lunch due to large family gathering, when I hear people using RATs every second day I can’t imagine the need for it and seems so wasteful, we get rid of plastic straws and knife and spoons to only flood the world and oceans with disused mask and landfill with plastic made RAT test

          • @Iwantthebestprice: Well, I think its because businesses and organizations want to stay open. They ask the staff members to test themselves on a daily basis so they know they are in the clear of COVID so the business can operate as normal. A lot of business owners now ask their staff to wear N95 or N95-equivalent masks for the same reason due to better protection from these masks thus resulting less downtime to the business. The big question is: who is going to pay for these extra measures? It can build up to be significant amount of money to either the individual or the business as a whole.

      • Better you had them than not, or were forced to wait for hours in a car or a line of people to be tested. I grabbed a bunch for the extended family pre-Christmas as it was obvious they were going to be devoured once the Christmas shut down & spike in infections kicked in. Luckily haven't had to use one - or a PCR test - at any stage (yet, knock on wood).

Still thanks to OP for the detailed info on what’s on offer

  • You're actually looking at the wrong test kit by SD BIOSENSOR in your link. Google search the test kit box name and you find a blue box.

The test you've linked (STANDARDQ) has a 76.6% sensitivity in their sample done in Germany.

All these online seller's ad should be banned in Ozbargain!!

  • You may also find them in your local Korean grocery store. I bought some from Kmall Eastwood.

    • This exact model with the exact packaging with non-English instructions? If so it is illegal for store to sell

  • Not approved for self test, please buy if you have point of care support available.

  • This deal isn’t bad with $10 off for app use

    $50 delivered. High sensitivity.

  • "Gmarket is a reputable online store in Korea" - this isn't necessarily true. It's like their Ebay. You have reputable sellers, and you have dodgy ones just like any other platform. If you stick with the "power sellers" the ones with the crown logo, you will generally be OK.

  • After ordering I received an email from Gmarket that they can't send these internationally, and that they'll give me a refund.
