The wheels tend to lose the rubber quickly. But otherwise a good case.

  • +1

    Can wheels be easily replaced?

    • Yes if you can buy the right ones online

      • +2

but if its 10yr warranty then why does it matter

        just return it

        • +3

Fairly certain the 10 year warranty doesn't cover wear and rear, only manufacturer defects… But happy to stand corrected.

          • +1

@bargainshooter: This is not a car where you pull out 200,000km on gravel road over 10 years so I think ACCC willbe very interested if Antler try to classify luggage wheel as consumable.

  • +8

Bought it in 2019 from Myer and it lasted one overseas trip before handle breaking. Maybe ok for lighter use.

    • +4

My Juno 1 handle broke after around 5 uses. I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement. Pretty easy to replace. Just need a screwdriver.

Found several major brands to be disappointing, including Samsonite and Antler. Bought a July suitcase for their lifetime warranty and so far no issues at all, despite the best efforts of Sydney airport baggage handlers. Gotta admire their dedication - they really go that extra mile to brutalise your suitcase.

      • have to say, Our Paklite (soft sided) suitcase we bought years ago is still going strong. Has been on many, many trips and no issues at all….again, despite baggage handlers in many places, incl to and from Sydney….sadly, it hasn't done a trip for nearly 2 years now.

      • Samsonites warranty has been good to me

      • +1

That's because they have subbed it out. not airline employees anymore. poorly paid temps.

Not needed in WA, since we're not going anywhere, ever again.

    • +4

You might need this to go mining? ;)

      • +1

        maybe only bitcoin mining

    • -5

Rather be somewhere with no cases then the current Covid shit show we have now.

      • +2

Clearly you don't have family overseas.

        • Having empathy for people who have to make sacrifices during a pandemic and understanding that sacrifices need to be made during a pandemic is not mutually exclusive.

I stand by what I said I wish I lived somewhere where case no’s were extremely low. Unfortunately when the health system is a shit show and people are dying there is no real ‘freedom’ as we are experiencing now.

Opening a border in a country run by murdoch and the focus groups during a massive wave would’ve been imho a dumb move for a state in surplus and living a relatively normal life.

From someone who has lived in multiple lockdowns.

          • @barghunt1: There is now a variant of Omnicom, which was a variant after Delta, which was a variant of the original.
This is in the space of 2 years.
Actually here is a list of variants:
            alpha
            beta
            gammma
            delta
            eta
            iota
            kappa
            lambda
            Omicron

You can never get vaxed enough because as I said 1 year before (and down voted heavily) we cannot create vaccines fast enough once a new variant comes out, and by the time we have, it has a new variant. Animals are now catching COVID, which means more mutations.

So the real question is - how many lockdowns are you prepared to endure?

Pass on the never ending vaccine boosters (in Israel people are on their 4th and still going to hospital, which certainly busts the myth that the unvaccinated, because they didn't get injections, are spreading it), and focus on treatments, because that is the only way we can "beat" this.

            • @Other: Pandemic management requires more than vaccines. Something that Murdoch and the ‘govt get out of our lives’ focus groups running this country fail to acknowledge.

WA aren’t in lockdown. They just can’t travel out of WA. There is a humongous difference between lockdown and not leaving the state. So I have no idea why your asking me about lockdowns.

I have one of these and rate them, but just a side note. The best warranty for any suitcase is remembering to complain immediately after picking up your damaged bag. Most airlines have decent replacement policies. Absolutely no point waiting and relying on the manufacturers warranty which is usually quite useless (including Antler)

    • Replacement policy by airlines? Is that replaced with money or same brand/model?

      • +1

Unfortunately, its generally some other brand/model.

      • +1

I've had repairs for free from airlines most often. They give a slip for you to take it to the local repairer who charges them.

    • +1

In America they broke my mum's suitcase and they replaced it with another generic new suitcase of similar size. Easy fix.

Covid sent a lot of luggage manufacturers almost / into bankruptcy.

Any reputable brand flogging off their goods in Reject shop for rock bottom prices have big problems.

    • Doesnt mean good for us as customers (get cheaper price for reputable brands)?

My wife's Juno 1 has lasted 7 overseas trips and still going strong. Rubber starter coming off the wheels a few trips ago but still rolls alright.

Trying to find stock in Sydney as I am actually in need of luggage and even went to Costco today to find some. Will update if I find some.

This was one of the best cases rated by Choice in their review last year:

I've had a Juno 1 for like 10 years now. The carry handle broke after 5 but they were happy to send me two more. I love this bag.

  • Wdym by around?

  • +1

I don't know tbh, wheels falling apart so easily is a deal breaker. The last thing i want when I'm travelling is for the wheel rubber to come apart, and all of mine (all 3 sizes) came apart very quickly.

Yes you can replace the wheels, but you have to get the size right and if it happens on the trip, depending how bad it is you have to consider getting it fixed which honestly adds unnecessary stress/distraction. When the rubber is broken, the luggage will eventually roll unevenly and then makes a sound when the frame hits the ground, which is 1/second depending on how quickly you are moving.

Alas, first world problem I guess.

P.S if anyone knows a link to stock up on wheels, please do share!

  • We have Juno 1’s and had handles break on each but Antler offered to have them repaired during the trip if we wanted but was easier to do at home. They had a batch where the rubber on the wheels was stuffed and one of our bags had that issue and they sent out a replacement set. TBH I’d buy from them again in a heartbeat, their support is great and the bags are sturdy.

  • My rubber wheel some how ended up with a flat spot. Got the wheel replaced. Has been fairly sturdy for the 3 times i took it overseas for extended periods.

    • how do you replace it?

  • +1

I have Juno 1 that has done over 20 international flights and still going strong.

    … 2 Large Suitcase

It’s only one. Fix the title

  • Is this an instore purchase available at any reject Shop?

Edit: oh sorry I just reread your post.
"Leopold VIC), unsure if group wide."

My Samsonite wheels gave up and I replaced them with rollerblade wheels. 100000000 times better. Rolls better and longer lasting. Was very easy to change.

    • Many newer Samsonite suitcases are ‘spinners’ so they won’t take single wheels.

      • I forgot to mention mine was a wheeled duffel bag.
You could try the rollerblade wheel for office chairs

  • I saw these at the same price at The Reject Shop at Eastland back in December. Bought mine from Kogan though.

  • +1

Don’t get this is you want to max your luggage allowance on a flight. 4.4kg is fairly heavy (you easily pay $30/kg if you were to go over your max).

  • +1

Antler warranty is useless. My 4 wheeler lost a wheel in Vietnam. Had it temporarily repaired there. Voided warranty.
Antlers view is you complete your trip on 3 wheels and return it, unusable, to original point of retail purchase in Australia

  • They had a smaller navy one 45 litres for 79

U think that's still worth it?

  • +1

I want to flag that this bag is considered "oversize" by many airlines - the dimensions are too big for standard checked baggage (eg Qantas allows total dimensions (l+w+h) of 140cms).

This may not be a suitable bag for air travel unless your willing to pay oversize fees.

    • Qantas allow 158cm on their website, I can't find reference to 140cm anywhere which is actually very small.
Regardless, I have flown Qantas and other airlines many times with a Juno and have never been called up for excess baggage fees.

I am not a frequent flyer by any means but have been on a few trips and have never ever seen checked in baggage getting measured in any country unless its obviously oversized.

      • I alway flew with a small screwdriver in the bag, so if they flagged the size i'd offer to remove the wheels (and hold up the entire line behind me while doing it).

  • Macarthur Square has stock, only Red available in L and Navy in S
Ashfield also have a couple S in Navy.
I could not find the L anywhere else in Sydney (but many shops didn't answer their phone) and got my mate to pick one up for me from Macarthur Square.

  • Anyone know any store in vic which may have one??? Tried few local but no luck.
