Sony 9500H 65" Broken Screen

Hi all, I have a 1 year old Sony 65" X9500H which my eldest (4yo) decided to throw a ps4 controller at.

Whilst there is no damage to the top layer, I now have vertical lines and a white 1 sq inch area which looks like an obvious point of impact.

Tv has another 4 years of Product care through Joycemayne, but I suspect they won't cover it.

I don't have other insurances, so I have a 3k tv that's probably only good for parts.

Has anyone had any luck in having a screen replaced? I assume because it had full array back light that it will be expensive.

Does anyone need parts?

Check the PDS? They might cover accidental damage …

Home contents? renters insurance? that typically covers accidental damage.

Next time just buy a $600 kogan set.

    • Or get a tv with an iPS panel they're pretty indestructible

  • Do you have accidental cover on your insurance policy? Sorry if this isn't helpful but it was the first thing I rang my insurance about after I bought my C1.

edit: Sorry I just re-read your post properly.

  • Yikes the cost of a panel is pretty much the same as just buying a new tv

  • does it still work?
Ive seen some on marketplace listed for free or for a very low price.

  • what is most important is what manner of corporal punishment did you exact?

Hahah. It took a lot of deep breaths to stay calm and simply moved the PS4 back out to my shed and he no longer gets to play the PlayStation.

It's all about psychological warfare these days.
