Is It Cold at Penguin Parade This Week?

We are planning to visit Penguin Parade tomorrow. The weather forecast for Penguin Parade is between 21 to 26. I had visited Penguin Parade long back and it was freezing. I couldn't remember which month I went there though. I heard it would be cold during this time as well.

I am wondering if someone can throw some light on if it would be cold/freezing this time of the year as well? We'll plan accordingly.

Thanks in advance.

    • Yes I did that. Also mentioned in my post. I still want to know if it is cold because of the wind and proximity to the ocean.

If its windy it will be cold due to the wind and proximity to the ocean.

Always assume it's cold, if it's not then that's a bonus.

    21-26°C is definitely not freezing.

      Closer to freezing than boiling!

  • Did you get that tour operator you were looking for? That seems like something they could answer.

    • I did. They just said it would be cold because if the wind. I just thought it would be good to know from people who visited recently. I also wanted to double check.

As long as it's not too windy, even if it is cold, which at this time of year I doubt, it'll be worth it.

Sounds like you went in the Winter months last visit when it's often Arctic-like conditions there.

    • Yes. Certainly arctic like conditions last time which is why I wanted to double check.

      • Which month was your last visit?

        • I forgot. It was ages agi, like in 2006 or 2007. I remember the cold very well though because I didn’t have enough warm clothes on me at that time.

          • @Napisque: If it was on the cusp of winter or in winter you are guaranteed to be frozen.

This time of year is hit or miss. Take a jacket to be sure.

The penguins don't really mind the cold.

  • 21-26 is warm for the penguin parade, even for this time of year. But if you're sensitive to the cold, just pack a jacket/jumper, everyone has different tolerances (particularly if you're been in Melbourne the past week, it has been unusually consistent in the warm weather).

  • Was there a few days ago. It was hot during the day but got quite cold at night. Thin jumper would suffice. Too cold for shorts and a t shirt though!

    • Thanks a lot!

live near Phillip Island. It is cold, wet and windy in winter. In summer it is often windy, but not what I'd call cold - unless you're used to Darwin.

Today it is pleasant (high 20s), but probably a bit windy on the clifftops. Not bad by Bass Strait standards though.

    • Thank you.
