    Are these hdmi 2.1 certified?

    • +4

I doubt it. If the HDMI cables were certified, surly Baesus would have stamped it all over the page.

    • +1

No but I bought a few 2m cables in November, they work 4k 120fps Dolby vision on Xbox series x. I mention November because sometimes a product gets popular then they make cost reductions

    • I asked Baseus and they said yes, it's certified. Others have bought these and confirmed they perform to spec.

  • For usb c to usb c for display is there some specific spec I need to look out for?

Is this an official store? Seems sus when you are called baseus_online_store but there is an actual baseus_officialstore_au

    • And a baseus_official_stores_au with a feedback of only 50. It's confusing which ones are legit. I guess I would look at the higher feedback rating.

A quick search revealed these accounts to me:
      basus_official_stores_au - feedback of 50
      baseus_official_au - feedback of 25194
      baseus_online_store - feedback of 6663

I previously asked them about this and they're all somehow affiliated but run separately by different people who are all known to each other. I didn't bother interrogating futher as to whether they were employees of Baseus or distributors but I understand that their relationship with Baseus is 'official' in that it's all legit. To be honest, as long as the goods aren't stolen, I didn't really care either way and I'm satisfied they're not stolen. They warrant their stuff for 12 months, as is required by Australian Law, so there's that. And my experience with returns has been good (I had a dodgy lamp once), if that's your concern.

      • Thanks for the info, it's good to know the sellers are legit and not selling knock offs.

I need a 10m hdmi cable. Any leads?

  • Are the HDMI cables like they say as good as the branded store ones that cost an arm and a leg?

    • +3

Depends on how you define 'as good'. They work, if that's what you want to know. And if it doesn't, they'll refund you. With HDMI cables, my experience has been they either work or they don't. I'm sure others might have different experiences as modern HDMI cables have lots going on so interference could be an issue that causes intermittent performance.

If it works, given it's passing digital signals, you won't be able to tell the difference in picture or sound quality between this cable and any other HDMI cable no matter the price. Expensive cables might have better shielding, construction or materials but for me, that doesn't add any value if the picture and sound quality is identical. It's not like I mess with the cables once installed and they're hidden away as much as possible, so to me, they're 'as good'.

Daim dude. Great information and logic. I like it.

      • Ok that makes sense to me. If it works and is comparable without noticeable ability.to discern to a shop bought "premium priced" cable then that's good enough for me. It's only an issue if these lower priced cables fail extremely.commomly.to work versus a premium cable that works straight out of the box. Past cables from China companies like blitzwolf have all be satisfactory. Is baseus in similar regard or a lower rung of the ladder?

  • Thanks Op

  • any USB-C to USB-C (~3 A is enough) deals ?

One thing to watch out for with HDMI cables is if you're looking at HDMI 2.1 because you want 4k 120fps gaming (latest gen consoles for example)

HDMI, the company, decided to do this really stupid thing where they have a new thing they're calling HDMI 2.1 that all the latest TVs and consoles and monitors etc have picked up on and started adding support into their hardware for, which is meant to have all these cool new features and additions, including 4k 120fps gaming.

Unfortunately, HDMI the company then said that HDMI 2.0 (the previous standard) is going to stop being used, and people will have to start naming their ports HDMI 2.1. The issue is HDMI the company is saying that they want to get rid of HDMI 2.0, so even if the ports don't have all the new features like 4k 120fps gaming, or any of the other new features, they STILL have to be called HDMI 2.1. Which makes… no sense.

Unfortunately that's meant that some TV manufacturers (maybe other things too, but I've been looking at TVs lately) have claimed HDMI 2.1, but if you look carefully, it'll say which of the new features it can and can't do - and in quite a few cases I saw, it called itself HDMI 2.1 without being able to offer 4k 120hz. Again, it makes no sense and it's one of the stupidest things I've seen.

    For example, this TV: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-a7g-85-4k-uhd-led…

If you go the details tab, you'll see that the specs say it offers 2 HDMI 2.1 ports - an average consumer might see that and think that's great for PS5/XBox gaming at 4k 120fps. Unfortunately, if you go to Hisense's website and check the specs there (https://hisense.com.au/product/85-uhd-4k-tv-series-a7g/) it clearly lists it as "partial compliance", then tells you what part of the ports are compliant (in this case, this TV can't actually do 4k 120fps gaming, which Hisense makes very clear, but for some reason sites like JB and whatnot just put 2.1 and call it a day. Thanks JB!)

It's amazingly annoying what HDMI have done, and I'm worried about all the people who will get TVs with HDMI 2.1 for their latest gen gaming, and not realise until too late that they might not be taking advantage of it.

  • does anyone else has the same problem? purchased and arrived today. Tried it on monitors, TVs, computers. Tried the method where you turn on and then connect. Absolutely no signal showing up. Nothing is recognising this HDMI cable.
