This is just price matching JB deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680332

    • +2

      Also $1417 at Officeworks.

    • Yes it is. But it gives people an option if they don't want to go to JB / OW.

      • JB would have the best options for gift cards with deals at colesworth for TCN, etc.

  • Eligible for cashback?

I still can't bring myself to pay over 1k for a mobile phone.

This is almost tempting till I come to my senses.

    • +2

can offer you a free "Slap" to wake you up. :)

Wait till this Sept, new phones are coming, this time you might get promotion on non-pro model

      • +2

can offer you a free "Slap"

        Naughty.

For many it's just showing others that "they can" when they display it on the table at the restaurant. A sort of "mine is bigger than yours".

      • You're obviously getting downvoted by those who do exactly what you said haha

        • No, read down here

          • @Laziofogna: mate the STRONGEST argument is really simple
see how many iPhone owners are here and they hunting for a 50-60 aud discount, sometimes for a 5aud cover? definitely they not going to visit a restaurant to put their iPhone near a 100aud+ check

Strange take, given how common iPhone is and how easy to have it on some sort of payment plan, iPhons is pretty low on the list of statement pieces for that purpose. Maybe in another country but definitely not in Australia.

        • +7

Agreed lol I'm a sub $400 phone kinda guy and wouldn't buy an iPhone personally but I don't think anyone with an iPhone is putting there phone on a table thinking that lol

        • -7

Believe or not, still some can't afford it. It's wonderful you can and best of luck. Other countries would not know, it sounds subtly racist though

          • +3

@Laziofogna: I'm completely aware that some can't afford it, those who can't definitely shouldn't. But that's irrelevant to the point I was trying to make: iPhone is not a statement piece in Australia. Maybe to some, but definitely not the majority of iPhone owners here.
The reason I brought up other countries was not to diss them but purely because this has been conveniently compiled for reference.

            • -2

@rookie317: You might be right, no worries. Some are surprisingly sensitive about this matter though.

        • +3

They aren’t a status symbol to anyone older than 16 they are simply a widely used tool

          • +1

@ripoffmerchant: It's not about status symbol, its an exclusionary requirement. The idea is that there are certain things that a person of status HAS to have, even if their cost is not unachievable. It's an expectation that will detract from your status if not met, rather than add / contribute to it.

I completely disagree with this statement. My wife likes her iPhone, as this is something that's easy and useful to use and most importantly has a great camera for her to take photos when she's out and about.
She is a very humble and modest person. I'm not quite humble but don't use an iPhone. I have a z fold 3 and got it as I wanted the portable tablet to watch media on the go.

        • -3

I did not mean it as an absolute truth. More of a joke. Why you feel so hurt? Why so sensitive? Why do you feel it was a reference to your family? 😉 It seems like with no emoji feelings get easily hurt "here"

          • +2

@Laziofogna: I'm not, I am just letting you know there is a truth outside of your truth. Its worth having an argument with an open mind. I guess the problem is your comment gave no indication of it being a joke. Hence why people responded to you the way they did

            • -5

@maverickjohn: I got it, that's why I mentioned the emoji and will try to remember in the future. Still, even if it was serious, not a reason to get hurt. Some are modest and keep their phone in the bag, some others with the latest, biggest screen put it unnecessarily on display on the table. How can anyone deny that. It doesn't seem something so important to continuously clarify situations. ❤️❤️❤️ Peace & love.

              • +3

@Laziofogna: Haha mate trust me I'm not hurt. Consider me the opposition to a debate. As a FYI I had not negged you which further enforces not being upset about your comments.

I'm changing my mind on this. I've always bought cheaper phones but there isn't a thing I own that gets used as often and is as versatile as my phone. I use it for a few hours every day, it's my entertainment, news, camera, navigation and a whole lot more.

I've spent more on specialised tools and equipment that I use far less often. This will be supported for many years and still have some resale value after that.

    No pro-models 🥺

  • +3

There were quite a few iPhone sales in the past months. Apple usually don't let their resellers to give large discount to protect the brand and their own stores. Something is going on……

    • While I get iPhones rarely on sale it's a 6% discount - not really a large discount.

      • And it's Apple selling it themselves at that so must just be trying to move stock levels on.

    • Pending us interest rate rise?

    • +1

Hint: It’s never the pro models just the normal models. The sales bring it in line to how much cheaper it actually should be compared to the pro model.

  • what's the screen size? Its saying 6.1 or 5.4

    • The 13 is 6.1, the 13 mini is 5.4

  • Still on my iPhone XS from a mobileciti 15% off sale in 2018.

  • A very good phone, certainly much better than the China brand knockoffs with bad SD chips that overheat and underperform.

  • Still too much money for a smartphone

I just picked up used SE2 64GB for $80, very good condition, no scratch, cracks or any damages…. Will last few years

    • may I ask where you got your SE2 from?

      • FB marketplace… was lucky to score a pristine unit at fantastice price…

        • very lucky… great phone and good size as well… unfortunately I stopped using FB for many years..
