No need for a VPN to sign up. It will also auto-renew for ₹9699 rupees, at the current exchange rate that's approximately ~$170 AUD for another 12 month subscription when it ends. For reference 50% off a subscription when you set the store to Australia comes in at $237.50 AUD.

Can you substantiate your statement? I personally find the economist to have very good contents

      • You forgot to add Sir.

  • Not hard to find free pdf or mp3 of audio edition

    • But the pdf is not optimised for mobile so makes it hard to read

      • Tru

  • I just had a quick search, and see that there are 5 different versions, based on geographical region. (UK, USA, Europe, Asia, Middle East/Africa).

Would it be right to assume you would receive the Asian edition, if using address from India?

Does anyone have a subscription, that would like to comment on what benefits you get from it?

    • There is no obvious benefits from what I can tell other than a customised front page based on the geographical regions. In the Web app, you can choose the region in user profile and it gets sync to the mobile app ( can probably check this when I get home)

  • and see that there are 5 different versions, based on geographical region

where do you see that? I subscribed, and got access to all content, historical and up to date.

But you can get the globalist viewpoint in the rest of msm.

  • Are their articles any good any more? I've seen a few videos on YouTube that I wasn't that impressed with.

Been reading the economist for the last 6 yrs and I don’t see much changed in quality. Their videos on YouTube don’t necessarily give the same analysis as some articles.

It eats up your entire week if you’re to read cover to cover. If you buy this mind you it’s a commitment :)

Also like any news media you need to be aware their viewpoint on the political spectrum I find them to be liberal, globalist, centre-left/centre on most topics. Said that, they’re mostly good journalistic content that acknowledges many viewpoints.

I got it via discounted work subscription. But like someone’s mentioned it’s free via the Libby app/public library login.

If you download Calibre the E book management software, it comes with an option to pull periodical feeds. There is one for the Economist. Pull it every Friday and you get the entire edition of Economist, with the different sections, and you can push it to your Kindle.

    • The audio version offered by this deal is great, can listen while doing other stuff

    • May I ask if this periodical pulling is via sub or via library?

      • Click fetch news, search for the Economist and set up to download every Friday. I still manually trigger it every Friday as Calibre doesn't autorun on my computer.

        • Whoa. I never knew that. Thanks.

  • But if you already have a indian 50% off subscription that ends in april, will this extend from then?

  • Isn't all valuable research and knowledge on twitter these days?

  • I did this a few months ago, and also managed to get a further discount (bringing the cost down to about AUD45) through a student subscription. After selecting a student subscription, there’s a way to “stop” the page loading before it redirects to the student verification portal. You can just enter in some student details, even if they’re outdated or expired, and it won’t verify them. Or if you’re a new student from one of the recent UTas deals, even better!

    • Nice - can you describe how you do this?
