I don't care much for Borderlands… but just having a look on their steam store page…
Base game with 75% discount now $22.48 (fair enough)
    There's also:
    -Season Pass
    -Season Pass 2
    -Directors Cut
    -Designers Cut
    -XP
    -XP
    -XP
    -XP
    -Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/Cosmetic/
    -and other random shit.

    Only $316 in DLC

    Sigh. RIP gaming.

    • +3

DLC doesn't equal anywhere near that much when you buy season pass 1 & 2

      • +3

Which without discounts looks to be $105. These companies are soooo good at gouging their fans

Paradox Games model. Granted they are serious about the games they made but omg so many DLC.
When I finally collected most of the dlc for Crusader Kings II, the third game came out, doh

Well if they're anything like civ games, the previous entry is the better version of the game until a year of dlc is out

Looks like a good deal on Borderlands 3 but I'm still a bit (profanity) about the recent changes to Humble Monthly they've decided to enact and feel like this might just be a way to deflect criticism/quell butthurt long enough it's irreversible

    • +8

Humble Bundle has been shitty for years now. I used to buy the bundles every week or month. Completely lost the bargainness.

      • +8

after the takeover it went to shit and never been good anymore
the idea of cluttering my steam library with games i won't ever like or play also lost its appeal - esp when I can no longer easily find the games I want

    • I'm not familiar, what's the latest beef?

      • +9

Currently people are upset because they've:

-Made the bonus for being a Classic (from the original Humble Bundle days) subscriber redundant, the cost of the plans are the same where as before your loyalty let you save a few dollars

-Renamed the pause button and changed where it is, leading to accusations of Humble 'hiding' the button

-Said they were revamping Humble Choice and now it's pretty much just the old Humble Bundle. They said they would give out less games per month now but try to have them be of better quality which people aren't optimistic about but I don't think they've ever had a lot of faith since the IGN takeover

-People still complain that "the bundles are so much worse" and "it's not worth paying for it any more" but I would argue that if it has a game you like and don't have, it's worth paying for it generally and the fact that charity gets like a dollar instead of Steam isn't a terribad thing in my eyes

Personally what I'm still irked about is the modifications to the donation sliders. Having pre-set sliders you could mess around with made it much more user-friendly to adjust than the current choose-a-button mode where getting the sliders is hidden away as the last option. It was at this same time they also forced you to pay a minimum amount to Humble whereas before you could make it literally $0 if you wanted.

PS: The fact that the "Extra to charity' option only raises the amount given to charity by about a dollar also doesn't tickle my taint

        • +4

Donation sliders. I chose an Australian charity, but would have no idea if they have ever received a cent from the selection.

No wonder it looks so different, thanks for the summary! I'd only been pausing every month because of the Classic bonuses… I did wonder if the price had always been the $16 mark because i'd paused for so long

        • Great response, thank you! I've been a subscriber for many years though (as I do have quite a collection of games) I now often pause it.

Totally agree the pause button is damn difficult to find, and the 'are you really sure you want to pause' pages have caught me out where I've remained subscribed.

  • +6

Remember when Humble Bundle was legit great Humble Bundles… it's turned to complete trash.

    • +5

I blame ign since it started to go to shit after they bought them out.

    • +1

If I have X hours a week available for gaming Epic (and Amazon, and Steam) seem to be giving away 40 times that in free games every week between them so my backlog is now ludicrously large.

It's very difficult for me to get remotely interested in paying for any game, let alone anything not top notch. I have a 10,000 hour backlog of sensational games so essentially no other games can get my attention any more. Acquiring new games that I don't play makes me feel worse if anything, so I'm certainly not going to pay money to feel worse.

  • +1

Is it just me without coffee or has the pause-a-month button disappeared?

    • +4

They've renamed it to the "Skip" button to better reflect it's functionality and confuse existing subscribers. Visit the Humble Bundle subreddit and they've got a guide on how to do it now

      • So can I just subscribe for this month and pause forever?
or maybe unpause in future when the deal for that month is good and pause forever again?

        • You can but there's not much point now, being a subscriber only nets you perks like the Humble Trove (now called something else) when you're actively paying. The old 20% discount is now a discount that starts at 10% and ramps up continuously unless you skip a month, then it resets to 10%. If that's super valuable for you and you don't mind having to skip every month unless you like it you do you

    • +2

Yep. They moved it to your settings page. It's not too out of the way but pretty shady.

    • No longer a flat out 20% store saving either, it's 10% and you have to be actively subbed for a while to get the full 20%

      • Requires a full year, I believe. IIRC it was only an 'up to' 20% discount in the first place anyway.

        • You're correct. I was skeptical about the whole "Humble is levelling up!' thing, but the 12 month sub for 20% off is a bit ridiculous. Glad I grabbed some stuff prior to the change

  • +2

I finally canceled this morning. Game Pass killed it.

  • +5

RIP HB. Also BL3 was nothing compared to how good BL2 still is.

    • +1

BL2 might be my fav coop game. I put 300+ hours into BL2 playing through it multiple times with different friends over a decade.

I put maybe 40 in the first and 30 in the pre-sequel. I still enjoyed them, and would still enjoy BL3 - but I'm going to hold off until BL3 can be had with most DLC for around the same price as this deal.

  • +1

BL3 felt like a grind. I love the series, but maybe I'm just over it by this point. It felt like a chore to finish.

$16 is reasonable for 30+ hours of gameplay though.

    • +2

I feel that way about most games these days… like great games but feel like they could be half as long. That said if I wasn't a hard working Aussie dad I'd probably appreciate the extended games length of most games these days a bit more.

  • +1

Took me two years of pausing like an idiot, but I cancelled this annoying lame ass subscription. What a relief

    • +2

Same. I was only pausing so I could keep my Classic pricing active. Now that's gone I have no reason to bother anymore.

  • If you are a current or former subscriber, check your keys - in particular those not redeemed.

I was a subscriber for 3 years. I have 3 CD keys that Humble has never supplied and keeps saying "Out of stock".

Fair enough after a week, a month - but 2 years later when the same game is still being sold in their store?

Humble Bundle was once good - it's rubbish now.

  • I actually bothered to take it this month, after trying to pause which gave me a $4 discount.

USD $7.99 for BL3 is OK.
