Hi, looking for a new credit card to churn and found this. First time posting a credit card deal here and this one seems like a good deal with a modest spending with good amount of cashback. I assume you can only take advantage of this deal if you're an iphone user. It has an annual fee of $99 on the first year which will net you a $301 cash back.

$400 cashback when you spend $2,000 on eligible purchases using Apple Pay within 90 days from approval. 1

Annual Fee

  • $99 in the first year, $149 in subsequent years.

  • Additional Cardholder: $90. You may have up to four (4) additional cardholders, who must be 16 years or older.

  1. To be eligible to receive $400 cashback, you must apply for the Citi Rewards Card by 29 June 2022, then spend a minimum of $2,000 on eligible purchases using your new card through Apple Pay or another eligible digital wallet within 90 days from approval. Cashback will be credited to your Account within 16 weeks of meeting the spend criteria. Your Citi Rewards Card must remain open and in good standing to receive the cashback. Cashback will reduce the outstanding balance of your Account but will not count towards your next monthly repayment obligation. This means that all spend will be charged interest at the applicable annual percentage rate. This offer is valid until 29 June 2022. Citi is very notorious when it comes to application approval imo. Sometimes they will approve it straight away, while most times they will reject it without an explanation. I have had mixed reviews dealing with them, and I feel the risk-to-reward ratio is always too high for me to apply for a Citi Credit card.

    30 June 20222 - wow that's a long promotion period

  • Any good ideas for an easy online mechanism for large spend with apple pay ….. I know of Zip but any other alternatives

    • Top up Revolut card? Not sure if they would treat is as a cash advance though.

I already have this card but didn’t realise they increased the Deliveroo promo from January to June until I saw this. Thanks OP!

    • One big downside is that there is no cash back option for sgb cards.

  • How is their customer service?

Stay away from Citi, not worth.

  • I haven't signed up to a credit card before.
    What does this mean?
"Please note that if you have a balance transfer you will not be entitled to any interest free days on retail purchases. This means that all spend will be charged interest at the applicable annual percentage rate."

    • Balance transfer means having a previous credit card with a balance that you want to transfer to this new one if you apply. Usually, they offer an interest free period for those balance transfer which this one does not.

There's also the Citi Premier Card which has $600 cashback, first year annual fee $150.
Also 2k spend in 90 days
So $51 more annual fee, $200 more cashback.

not sure why they are all Apple pay.. android all the way

    • I just read the T&C again and there is another eligible digital wallet which is Samsung Pay.

      • ah ok, I have a google pixel.
        no samsung pay here.

  • Bloody Apple Pay WTH man, why not simply using straight card or google pay?

    • yeah that's kind of crap
most of my big payments aren't google/apple pay

    • You can't even use their cards on GPay.

  • I just signed up today but didn’t get an email with my application or anything.

What are the chances of me being able to make a purchase with it by Feb 13?

    • That’s a tight time frame to receive the card once approved.

      • I can’t use ApplePay with it right away once it gets approved?

        • Yeah, not sure about that. You could ring them tomorrow and ask them if they received your application okay.

I'd look at a westpac card - They do a digital card so as soon as your application gets approved, you can access a digital card without needing to wait for the physical card to arrive and start spending.

      • depends what cards people have had in the last 12mths

  • I couldn't find any references to 12 month cooldown for the cashback, is this not applicable?
I just cancelled my Citi qantas card late last year.

    • Citibank have no 12 months cooldown like other banks.
I'm having 2 Premier cards right now and getting bonus points without problem.

  • How does this work for online purchases. Once i link this card to samsung pay, do i need to pay using the samsung pay app, or can i just use the card?

    • This is for Apple Pay - as per in title.

      • T&C - Apple pay or other eligible digital wallet which is Samsung Pay.

  • The app doesn’t show which transactions are with Apple Pay. How does it know if it’s through Apple Pay or not?

    • They know. Apple Pay uses a virtual card number

      • I see- thanks

  • Any way of using Apple Pay to pay off a Humm instalment?

  • can anyone confirm how they've achieved this apple pay/samsung pay requirement? I don't usually tap and most of my purchase are online. Any tips?

    • Some online store accepts apple pay/samsung pay as payment method. Easy way to meet spending requirements is buying gift cards and pre-paying insurance premium and utility bills.
