  • IPS-level

    • Is that similar to IPS-Like? It has screen, much pixel, many colour!

'IPS-level', 'IPS-like' and IPS can mean the same thing. Some manufacturers cant use the term IPS specifically because it is trademarked. That or maybe it really is not true IPS. It's hard to tell without knowing the specific model of the panel. On this machine? I wont hope for too much. It's 1k after all.

    • Well IPS is a trademarked name. Even my zephyrus duo is marketed as a 'IPS-level' screen. It could be IPS tech but they cant use it. Of course given this particular model is an 1k machine you shouldnt give it too much hope. With that said even if it is IPS the actual brightness/colour coverage may still be trash, it is a budget laptop after all.

These have pretty cheap/weak plastic build quality. If you want something that isn't going to fall apart, then don't get one.

Thanks for the insight. I personally prefer the cheap/weak plastic build quality so I'll get two

  • Any suggestions for a good balance laptop under $1500 please ? Need it mainly for watching videos and web broswing / word etc, prefer something allows me to have mutiple tabs opened without slowing the performance. Should have decided to buy earlier but now missed all the Dell deals.

      • Do you have any models which you would recommend ? Would like something decent and last a bit longer. I just found out Apple has a refurbished M1 macbook around $1350 but only has 8GB, would that be good enough for my requirements ??

        • The Lenovo model in the link is perfect (if a little overkill) for the tasks you require. Saying that it's always good to future proof and over spec if you can afford it.

From my limited knowledge of the new M1 Macbooks, 8GB of RAM seems plenty for everyday tasks due to how the chip works with memory (more efficient usage)
Obviously Macbooks have soldered memory it's not possible to upgrade down the road
