2L Coca Cola Price Increase at Woolies/Coles?

When did they start charging $4.50 for the 2L Coca Cola drinks at Woolies/Coles? Haven't bought soft drinks in a while but it was around $2.50 in November and had been for years.

I'm not paying close to five bucks for zero sugar Sprite. What am I gonna mix my Aldi vodka with now?

Pepsi has increased too, 30 Cans everyday price at Woolies and Coles increased from $19 to $32 in CRS states around end of Jan (Big W still $19 currently).

2L Bottle gone up by 20% also.

  • well FWIW you can get 2 bottle of 1.25 (2.5L total) for $4.20 this week. Ain't much but better than nothing.

Or you can try to embrace…Que Cola..

    • The lowest I have seen the 1.25L Coca Cola's go for is around $1.57 I think.

Usually wait around that price before I bulk buy.

Sometimes they hover around $1.80 mark also I believe but this one I am guessing a little bit.

Mix that Aldi Vodka with some ginger beer and fresh lime for a Moscow Mule cocktail. Yum yum.

But yes, it has gone up a lot. Prob in part due to covid and other factors.

According to Price Hipster 2L increased from $2.85 to $4.55 as of yesterday!

Looks like them removing it from their everyday low price range.

1.25L went from $3.15 to $3.50 regular price

    • Should have done my shopping yesterday then.

      • Me too thanks.

  • When? Why? Covid and covid related inflation is the answer.

It's not just Coke - pretty much everything has gone up in price during the past 6 months and it'll probably get worse.

The Woolies/Coles half price specials of 2023 will probably be equal to the everyday prices of 2019.

    • the price increases have been crazy!

Inflation caused by profit not covid

      • +1

This. Covid is just an excuse for everything now.

        Lack of supply? Covid.

        Weight gain? Covid.

        Expecting? Covid?!

Same. They could lift it to $40 a bottle and it would not affect me in the slightest.

Coke Australia got bought out by Coke Europe late last year. Maybe they’re behind this.

    • Very likely, they shut down the facility in SA quite a while ago, so we're likely having it shipped from Chyna …

schwepps dry ginger ale with rum
      lemon squash with vodka

  • Don’t people watch the news these days? Inflation is going up and you will see more of this. Get prepared!

  • Pepsi is 25 cents more but still acceptable lol

Not inflation. It just stopped being a low price everyday item. Kind of suss that both Coles and Woolies ended the deal at the same time.

Probably something to do with the supplier (CCA).

  • When did they start charging $4.50 for the 2L Coca Cola drinks

Wait till you see what people charge for a 600ml bottle!!

Looks like they've jacked the prices up on all types of coke!

    • Not the own home brand yet. But I agree with the said above, no cola in one's life is better.

Drink ICE cola - had it recently and its pretty good - aussie owned too

    • From my experience the non Coke Coca Cola's don't do well over time.

Something about the og Coke seems to retain it's flavour and non flatness.

Source: I took a sip of some 1 year old que cola and other cola varieties and yeah this ain't coke no mo

compared to my 1 year old Coke Coca Cola.. taste not bad just a little bit sharp

    Drink VB longnecks instead.

This is academic. We are ozbargainers who always buy home brand cola!

  • We definitely need more posts like this. This, price of cooking oil and real milk!

  • Huh?????

  • I thought it might just be woolies but checked Amazon and it's gone up there too. Pepsi Max was the last vice I had left. No more caffeine for me.

  • On the bright side… perhaps my 4000+ item Coco Cola Collection has doubled in value too!

  • Just noticed it today as well. I always buy 2x 2lr bottles of a weekend and that lasts us through the week. I was pretty salty when they removed the caffeine free diet coke as well.

  • Its a significant price increase. Can’t justify almost $10 for 2 bottles.

  • When 2L cola's full price was $3.2, they were often at half price ($1.6) on weekly specials. They were never on weekly specials when the full price was $2.5.
Anyway, it's time to quit the sugar water. It's good for your health.

    • It is Pepsi.

  • What state are you guys in? $2.20 for coke or Pepsi at woolworths today in Sale, Gippsland Victoria.

  • Merged from You Know Inflation Is Real When $3 Pepsi Bottle Is Now $3.65 at Woolies

At least wished they priced it at $3.69 not even nice…

What things you noticed gone up recently ?

    • Literally all soft drinks have gone up in price.

      • Coles/Woolies brand 1.25 litre softdrink is still 75 cents in VIC.

        • $1 now in NSW at Woolies.

The “feds” here, the RBA, literally ended quantitive easing this week. Hard to understand how reducing the money supply also leads to inflation?
Or is it like a religion where everything is the work of that dastardly demon, fiat money?
There have been “sound money” loons forever, but they traditionally favored gold.

Neoliberalism is a religion where you ignore all evidence.

For example, you claim that competition reduces prices after electricity increased by 800% after competition started compared to before competition.

And you claim that privatisation increases productivity after electricity privatisation causesd the largest drop in productivity that the nation has ever recorded. From 2007 to 2012 the sector lost 30% productivity while religious idiots claimed it was increasing.

And obviously the claim about customer service being better is absurd.

One of neoliberalisms core tenets is removing democracy and replacing it with the free market. That's what this is. That's what the … I don't want to get banned again - voted for.

Their pre packaged salad bowls. Went into the office for the first time in 2 months and previously I paid $5 for a Caesar salad bowl from woolies, went in today and cost me $6.50!! This is the moment i really felt inflation hit me, oh and not to mention the $1.85 per litre of fuel no one seems to be talking about anymore!!

      • +1

    • It's normal for cold cans to be $3 now so an extra $0.65 for 60% more isn't so bad if you look at it like that. I'd have to be absolutely desperate to pay it however.

    • The Woolworths and Coles brand nappies just jumped last week from $10 to $11.50. 15% increase is pretty big, can't see my wages going up 15% though. Other brand nappies have also increased but they were already too expensive without half price sales :)

      • They've got their market share. Now they can increase prices and actually make a profit.

    • For individual items, they might be jacking up the price so they can have a bigger "sale" on the that item every week or two. (But this time, it seems to be lots and lots of things).
