    It's the watch your dad had in 1989. It is cool for this fact because you are now the same age as your dad in 1989. You never understood this basic watch in your younger years since you always wanted a Rolex or Omega. You always wanted a Lamborghini or Ferrari too but guess what? You are older and drive a paid off Camry and just like that Camry this little beauty is the most practical thing ever and can probably survive WWIII.       That was an error, I've fixed it now. It's 2099 (see link to Casio website for all the specs).

    What is it with G-Shock watches? The display looks the same as all other Casio but wrap in thick plastic and costs a fortune (for what it is).

    It’s a classic beauty. I have the Tough Solar version as it won’t need batteries, or checking the seal was done right after a battery change.

      Many comments online say these last 10 years on the original battery if you don't use the backlight often so I don't think it's worth spending the extra on the solar.

      Also it's pretty easy & cheap to replace the battery yourself.

        I'm into my 12th year now! I just use it. If I need the backlight I use that too - that's what it is for. This is my outdoor tough watch. I like that it is uncluttered (for a casio) and doesn't have unnecessary functions. Also, the crystal is recessed.

        Another advantage of the solar is the clarity of the display. It's literally as good as it look in the picture, the difference is quite pronounced. Compare the pair.

      The US is a strange place but time is measured the same way in all countries.

      The only "issue" I am aware of is that the date is displayed as MM/DD and is unable to be changed. This applies to all G-Shock Classic models sold worldwide as far as I'm aware so it's not really avoidable.

    Dammit, mine arrived, box crushed up, even the g shock got chipped on the side and a button jammed in.

    Now don't know how long to wait until it's cheap again.
