So spewin - I placed my order yesterday when it was $78, and didn't close the browser tab. This morning I was just closing my old tabs from yesterday and saw this one had dropped to $57. Gah!
I think its beautiful. I have a thing for Blue Dial Diver watches.
There's a good video by Jody from Just One More Watch showing possible upgrades as well: https://youtu.be/aIgoLwzR_0U
Hope this helps someone.

Thanks OP! I hear they are going to discontinue the blue version and also the marlin logo in the non-North America regions.

    • +3

removing the marling would be a bit sad, i think aquatic themed logo on dive watches is nice …..

pity black isn’t at a killer price , i’d get one of those also

  • +1

That is a very nice looking watch, didn't these used to be hundreds of dollars?
Good find op! Shame I don't wear a watch anymore

    • +1

      No it's always been cheap.

    • You might be thinking of the Seiko SK range.

This is Casio. Little brother of Seiko.

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought :)

  • +1

Nice price but can’t really decide. It’s ok if I would need a watch.

    • +1

If I would need a watch?

      IF I WOULD NEED A WATCH ??

      IF I WOULD NEED A WATCH ???

It's ozbargain. You don't need stuff to buy stuff.
      Just get it. Now.

      • +2

you might want to change your username to JustBuyIt ;)

  • +1

I just bought one, should be good to use when I go out into the ocean.

    • +1

also great in the garden or doing wet trades while renovation, the WR200 and lock down crown means easy to wash even with warm soapy water ….

    • .. or when you do TV interviews … like Bill Gates does

  • +5

    Not quite a blue person.
I have the silver and black version.. absolutely awesome!
and just realised the gold black has dropped in price too… So got that one.

  • +6

Nice watch but check the size before buying, it's quite large and might not suit small wrists.

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Another one for the collection that ill probably never wear

  • +3

Not sure why I bought one, do I need it? NO, Do I want it? Yes, Am I going to wear it? maybe :(

    • +1

and when you decide you want l wear it it’s ready to go ….. just make sure to pull out crown if you are going to store so battery life is extended ……

      • What does that do?

        • It disengages the mechanism so it doesn't use any power - making the battery last longer.

  • +1

Good deal. I was about to click but realised I had an orient ray II in blue which really is pretty similar in looks.

    • +1

      Well it's the Submariner look.

    • +1

the casio is quartz so pick it up and ready to go …..my orient doesn’t get worn much as it’s automatic and if it hasn’t been work for a few days it needs to have the time set ….. quartz just pick it up and go …. i do my own battery swaps ….only thing better is an eco drive ……but there are no WR200 ecodrives under $100 ….

    • I've got a Mako 2 and am still toying with buying this. If I can confirm the lug width is the same I will as I can have choice of strap or bracelet on either

  • +3

Nice find Op, I think this is the cheapest ever on OB for the blue model.

The last time the black model was around this price was 5 years ago.

  • +2

Bought! With a $5 targeted cashrewards bonus. I hope that helps explaining it to the wife.

  • +4

I paid $75.83 for the black version in May 2021 and got a steel bracelet for it, but don't wear it much. I will buy this blue version to average down my buy in price

    • hahaha I like the way you think….HC style

  • Bezel material Resin I am very hard on my watches. I am wondering how long it will look this good

anyone who has had one for a while?

  • +2

Sapphire glass available for it from here if anyone wants a tougher crystal: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32992959050.html

    • +2

And video showing how to do it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIgoLwzR_0U

      • +5

Which is exactly the same video as in the description.

It's worth mentioning if you're thinking of doing these mods then you might want to consider just buying a Steeldive SD1940 instead as everything is already done except for the milled clasp, but the bracelet has solid end links & the bezel insert is ceramic.

Plus it's an auto with a better build quality & amazing lume.. Casio lume is ordinary if that matters to you. Old post here for links.

        • +1

typo alert ? you mean steeldive sd1970 ? - not the 1940 which is quite a different style ? btw thanks to your posts watchnerd i did buy a sd1970 last week….

        • +1

          Apologies, didn’t read full description.

        • +2

At times like this I think of the Old El Paso girl. Why don't we have both, indeed?

          • @TruckTrespass: I have both, the green sd1970 and black duro. Just bought the blue Duro to round out the collection. Both steeldive and duro's are great watches, but at $60, the Duro is outstanding value.

Buy it and the go on AliExpress and get a couple of cheap straps for it to go on. Maybe a mesh strap for a fancy office diver, or a colourful nato to rock out with.

    • Sapphire is more scratch resistant.

I'd stick with this if you are going to bang it around more often as mineral will be more impact resistant

      • i have a mixture of sapphire and mineral glass in my watches ….. only had a problem once when it scraped along a brick wall and i think the sapphire would also have scratched …. i’ve just ordered one of these and will make do with the mineral until it scratches which might be never …..
it’s a $60 watch …… wear it, enjoy it, it might never scratch and if it does replace the glass or buy a new watch ……there are many watches in the $300+ price pint that just have mineral glass and it was an issue at that price they would come with sapphire …..

  • +2

Wow, that was a 'wake up and buy something' situation if ever I saw one :)

  • +1

Can you actually use this for diving or is this just what it's called?

    • +3

It will be fine for that use unless you forget the crown out

    • wr200 and screw down crown is fine for diving …..

  • +1

The blue looks so nice from photos and videos

  • +1

I have one of these - I know it's somewhat verboten to put a leather band on a dive watch but I put a Sydney Strap Co honey Daytona band on it (worth about the same as the watch) and it pairs up really nicely

    • It will be verboten when Rolex put one on a Submariner.

    • +1

leather is more common than you might think on divers ….. i dive …..while on holidays , rest of the year it’s just a watch and leather feels nicer for some people …..i don’t like leather due to lack of durability compared to stainless , but it’s all about comfort and how you enjoy wearing the watch ….

      • Depends on the watch and as you say, intended usage. I tend to go silicon for dive style watches for comfort and weight but I have a Pepsi PADI Prospex I've kept on the stainless band because I think it suits it. Also means I don't have to do left arm weights that day.

Hey this can turn out to be a very nice watch!

Will this watch finally get the attention of the female folk so they will want to marry me?

    • -2

This is 2022, only brain damaged people get married in Australia.

      • +1

Lol someone negged you, they must have got married recently.

  • +2

    Got one thanks Op!

  • +2

Thanks GDR, been looking for something like this for our son for a while.

  • +2

mdv106 was the last one to feature the marlin, iirc?

  • +1

I have ordered this watch 3 times so far since November last year.

2 times its gotten lost somewhere between amazon -> aupost, and third is looking like its following the same pattern.

Amazon refunds me and says this is super rare, then i re-order.

Auspost looks into it but doesnt care too much because amazon refund.

Hopefully oneday i actually get it.

    • Howcome it's going through aus Post?
Thought Amazon had its own delivery system

      • They do. I think they operate at an australia post facility but have their own courier system (like uber drivers) and get paid by amazon. This is why alot of us are getting packages on sat and sunday

  • +3

Bill Gates wears the black one, I have the same one and it’s such a great watch for the price.

    • +1

You look like a billionaire now.

    • Bill Gates is so rich yet he is just wearing a less than $100 watch. I am better stick to my mi band and save some money.

  • +1

Super awesome mate. Thanks and well done on this one. 👏

Was thinking of buying a costlier watch with 20 bar.

Ordered a galaxy compatible magnetic band for this one.

  • +1

Far out and I just paid under 20k for my Deep Sea. Should have bought this instead and saved myself a lot of money.

    • +1

I can give you 5k to buy your deep sea plus this watch for free so you can save some money.

      • Umm check your math. I would lose $15k.

  • +1

    What a nice deal. Thanks

  • +1

It would be great if it was at 40mm! But looks great for the price

    • They don't wear like a 44 mm watch, more like a 42 or so. My wrist is a touch under 7 inches/178 mm and it sits perfectly

      • Mmm tempting, I just bought the g shock on discount yesterday though. My wrist is tiny so I wasn't sure. 42mm looks a little big on me already

  • Bought :)
Could someone please suggest a stainless bracelet that would fit on this?

    • +1

Watch the video link in the description. Another option is a "Super Engineer".

      • cheers, will do, thanks! :)

  • Mine just got delivered. Some damage in the cardboard box but otherwise perfect.

    • +1

Agh. I've dropped it face down on the floor and cracked the crystal. Time to buy a sapphire replacement

      • +4

Well at least you got 22 minutes use out of it.

      • I think I'll continue to subscribe to this thread for the next episode of this intriguing drama :p

        • Especially considering sapphire is usually for scratch resistance and not impact like he had experienced….. :P

          • +1

@Forfiet: Resin crystal and those g-shock roll bars 😆

            • @tdw: "g-shock roll bars" shudders……

  • My order just got flagged as undeliverable. Spoke to Amazon and they said it was usually because the box or the label is damaged. They must be chucking these things into the vans. I reordered with priority shipping which Amazon said they will pay for once shipped.

  • damn…I don't need it…don't need it…but want it…..ordered sigh

    Thanks Op!

  • -1

Price has bumped up to >$80!!! This is bullsh!!t.

    • Gotta get in quick!

      • This deal was posted on the 6th though. I was surprised it lasted so long.

  • Same here:

Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

I wonder if the van crashed or they are just being sketchy

    • That's a shame, for context mine was successfully delivered on Monday(It was a signed delivery, but left in a safe place instead- My property is luckily quite secure for this :) )

Maybe it was a particular shipment that has had such issues, its a shame as this is a nice watch for the price and in a normally lit room the blue bezel/dial give a nearly black finish at times.

Oh well good luck to you on getting a satisfactory solution…. :)

    • Get on live chat and complain. Say things like you have been saving up for it & was looking forward to it arriving.

    • They are using crappy packaging, mine arrived with the first letters of the label cut off and the package had a rip in it

  • +1

Mine got cancelled. Went on live chat. Had a whinge. They offered voucher if I re-ordered. I said no, cancel my prime thing. They said, if you order again we'll refund the difference. So ordered again and will cancel prime after it's shipped.

  • Mine got cancelled too, same thing they said it was damaged in delivery… real shame, i really wanted it!

  • Yep, go the same message. Lost in the ether and refunded. Don't really need the watch to be honest, but poor form that they they don't offer the option to reorder.
