[PS4, XSX] NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 $49 ($0 C&C/ in-Store Only) @ JB Hi-Fi

440

Suddenly in the mood for some Nier love so figured a quick search wouldn’t hurt. Came back with $49 for both PS4 and XBOX version of Nier Replicant at JB HiFi. Not the best price at $39 a while ago but I reckon physical copy of this game is quite hard to come by. Here is the link to PS4 version

Remember that XBOX version offers 1440p for XSX and XSS while the PS4 version only plays at 1080p on PS5. There is neither dedicated current gen version nor current gen upgrades unfortunately but the game does run at 60 fps regardless of console platforms.

Update: Nier for Xbox Series is no longer in stock online, PS4 copy still available.

I got the Xbox version for $36 from EB during the Black Friday sales. It's still sealed along with the other games I grabbed at the time :)

Do you have to play version 1.22474487138 first?

    • +1

You already have. And if you know you know.

Loved this game. Soundtrack of Nier Gestalt/Replicant 1.22 is beautiful. Story is amazing and all the characters are very well done. It has a few flaws with it's gameplay & progression that become especially apparent when you do the grinding mess that is getting all five endings, but in the end it was a great experience and I think the game deserves all the praise it gets.

Good deal but I am holding out for ver.1.22474487140

  • Played and loved Neir Automata. Is this a similar game ?

    • +5

Similar yes, but I didn't like it as much. It takes a while to get good. After the first ending the game gets a bit better, combat is better and such. But if you really enjoyed automata I think it's definitely worth checking out.

It's an old game remastered (well). Automata was straight up (profanity) amazing. This is good, but not on its level.

Combat is the same. Music is what you'd expect it to be. Fetch missions that teach you weird lessons, yes. Sadness, yes.

    • +2

It's similar. If you enjoy yoko taro-ness of automata you'll love this game

    • +1

yes similar,(though not extremely connected) worth playing if u love automata, i know some people prefer this over automata (eg this is more character based while automata is more plot based.)

  • 1.22474487139 = √1.5

I only know that because someone else commented it elsewhere.

  • Guys I might be uneducated on the subject but could someone give me a spoiler-free explanation of ver 1.22474487139?

Somehow I kinda guess that the general answer would be “Just play the game and you’ll understand” but still I gotta ask.

Just play the game and you'll understand

the square root of 1.5 is 1.224….. it's a remaster/remake that also adds some stuff but not quite a 1.5.

i haven't finished it yet so there might be more to it but yeah.

This game is a remaster of the Japanese version of a game that catered to Asians who don't like seeing big white men as protagonists in their games.

In Japan (and Asia), they got Nier Replicant (this game) with an effeminate pretty boy as the main character.

In the West, we got Nier Gestalt (Nier) with a middle aged dad as the main character.

I played this game at release back in 2010. When it wasn't being an endless fetch quest, the storyline is quite depressing.

      • Downvoter is probably butthurt that no one cared about their favourite bishonen game for over 10 years until now.

      • I mean there also aren't that many games starring middle age mums. Gamers largely prefer someone young and hot to either self-identify with or lust after. And yea, I refused to play Gestalt because I do not want to stare at old man Nier for 50 hours but I could get on board with the young hottie version.

        • I don't understand why I got downvoted in the first place?

I wasn't even being facetious. Everything I just wrote was accurate.

For you downvoters who don't even understand what your downvoting about, read this article by the former head of Sega's Yakuza franchise and how he was amazed that Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima even got approved as a protagonist over the standard bishonen (pretty boy) archetype.

When you have a Japanese video game veteran commenting on how a 30 something year old Jin Sakai of standard appearance is an unconventional choice for a main character in a Japanese themed game, there are problems afoot.

  • Great game, highly rated. Played it twice would definitely recommend.

not really a bargain when EB (of all places) had it for $36 over Christmas/Boxing Day sales

    • Well they are all sorta sold out in Melbourne except for a few copies here and there. And as I said, not the best price for sure and it may go down even further but hey, $20 off RRP is still $20 off RRP :)

  • No stock where I'm at, it says "No stores were found within 200km of your location. Click the More Stores link below to see the closest stores." There are only 2 stores for the PS4 version with no delivery (unavailable) and they are both in Queensland. I don't think JB Hi-Fi will stock anymore, after that it will be deleted in the system.

same stock level for PS4 version as last week.
was excited this morning to see this, thinking they have refreshed it or something :(

    • One workaround is that you can try your local EB to check stock, pricematch and the ship it to your local EB store for C&C.

But yeah probably won’t even last long until Jb deletes this listing.
