For anyone who prefers Seagate over WD, there's a 5Tb Portable Seagate at Officeworks for $155, standard pricing I think.. so not a ozb bargain really!

5Tb is a great size for PS4 External Game Storage. I decided to finally download the majority of my PSplus library. 200 Games from over the years almost fits on 5Tb.

This is the real deal, especially as the seagate ones are shuckable

      • Who's shucking 2.5" drives…?

        • Plenty of people, including me, needing one to go into an ITX build where there's no room for a 3.5" drive.

    • Did you download 200 games because they could withdraw them anytime?

      • +1

Not really, although that has always crossed my mind.
Got them mostly for the partners kid, so that he can fire them up without waiting to download them. No doubt there are still In-Game Updates to be downloaded for a lot of them.
I wanted to really stress test the 1000/50Mbps connection I am trialling too..
4Tb downloaded in 3 days, not too bad!

    • WD drives usually have a premium over Seagate, and IMO for good reason. Of course there will be some people that would prefer Seagate at the same price, but my point is that Seagate having a drive at a similar price to a discounted WD one doesn't mean the latter isn't an ozb bargain. That's like saying because Coke is half price, but you can also get Pepsi at the same price, the Coke deal isn't a bargain.

      • My point was that the Seagate isn't a deal, because it's just the normal price.

Bought a WD 5tb portable drive for the same price from Amazon 2 years back (that died and was replaced on warranty). Odd that prices haven't decreased since.

      Have you met Mr Inflation?

Inflation is also fat shaming prices.. ;)

    • What was the warranty process like? How do you prove your HDD was faulty? What was turn around time like? Did Amazon do the warranty or did they send you to the manufacturer?

The Segate one currently $154 at JB-HiFi and OW sale it for $155, if you want bit cheaper and willing to walk, you can OW price beat JB-HiFi is down to ~$146.

    • Managed to get a price beat from OW.

These drives probably came out from the same factory with a different shell.

  • Just ordered one, thanks op 👍🏻

Could be a targeted promotion, but just ordered one (have Amazon Prime sub), and had a $15 off promo code (PRIME15) added automatically, ~$136 Inc delivery 👍🏻
