Not the cheapest ever, but it seems the 4 series has been discontinued in favour of the new 5 series. So if you want another Charge 4 to connect to one you've already got, this is a decent deal. Note that the new 5 series won't connect to the 4 series.

Comes in 3 colours. Free delivery.

USB-C charging and also functions as a power bank. I've had one of these for a while and really like it.

  • These are better IMO than the series 5. The series 5 doesn't have a cover fro the USB-C port. I realise that the ports on the 5 are water resistant without a cover, yet the cover does help dust, sand etc get in when using outside.

My understanding is that to connect them, it must be run through the JBL app. If that's the case, its not worth it for me.

    • Not sure about the app since I've only got one speaker.

    • The app is not needed to pair or connect multiple charge 4's
The only thing the app did for me was to update the charge 4 firmware

  • The Choice review lists the price at $149, the Charge 5 retails for $199

    Thanks, I bought one.
Mostly for the auxiliary in, so I can plug in a Pocket Operator.

  • I've been a major JBL fan for a couple years now and have owned multiple portable JBL speakers.

I bought the Charge 4 for $149 about 2 years back and have been using it since. The Charge 4 is excellent, however I wouldn't buy it at this price point. There was a deal for $99 a while back which would have been perfect as this speaker is now outdated due to the new Charge 5.

The new Charge 5 is much better in sound quality, due to the added tweeter and increased sound output wattage (40w vs 30w).

The Charge 4 was known for the lack of treble due to the mono speaker. The tweeter was a necessary addition for the speaker, and the Charge 4's speaker placement showed there was definitely space for that tweeter - later added in the charge 5.

    • Yeah for sure. I'm thinking mainly for people who already have one and want to pair multiple. It's annoying that you can't pair a Charge 4 with a Charge 5.

      • Yup, traditional JBL move. They've been doing this for ages, with the original connect, and then connect +

Flip 3 couldn't pair with a Flip 4, Xtreme 1 couldn't pair with Xtreme 2, pretty annoying move by JBL, and it's clear they're haven't decided to change :(

    • Agree, bought the charge 5 last year for $150, not recommend charge 4 for this price.

      • Yea, as I said, that $99 deal would have been the perfect time to grab a Charge 4. Anything else feels excessive

    • Excellent advice cheers

I have the charge 3, still going strong. It came with a charging adaptor and international adaptors in the box lol!

  • Same price as at JBL website, discounted due to a previous model, not really a bargain.

Umm, this is the JBL website. Can you find the same price anywhere else?

      • Sorry, I was comparing your price at JBL with JBL. 1+.
