Nice for people with e-sim eligible phones…

  • good for porting in/out for Amaysim deal

But they say for a new number not a port in?

    • Don't think it is for porting as it says in the terms.

  • Anyone know what the cheapest esim plan is to basically just have a number with unlimited calls?

    • Woolworths Mobile? I’m on the $10 plan, I think their cheapest is now $15 or less if you buy 12 months.

      • Oh thanks. Didn’t know Woolies do esim!

  • tried doing this as the app identified my phone as an Esim but it was wrong, don't trust it, i could even do anything due to no sim or myoptus login. They started charging me anyways… 3 different chat agents said they cancelled it and refunded, and 1 phone agent "cancelled" it as well but only the 2nd phone agent actually cancelled it. Staying far away from optus now!

    • Subscription-style customer service reps seem to enjoy saying they are unable to cancel - or say cancel without actually cancelling

"Why train people on how to undo a 'sale'" …

Hope they refunded you for the unused service

Always a bit dodge when we have to rely on ad hoc case-by-case "please call to discuss" or "live chat" contact enquiries rather than open/public or even ticketed systems

Products are fine when they work!

      • I ordered $10 online $30 one, rather stay with voda. Pack in the mail.. do I need to cancel not ported or activated it .

  • Interesting story. Maybe e-sim is not very safe yet? “Hacker steals Sydney man's life savings after simjacking”https://amp.9news.com.au/article/4e1dcac8-a6e7-4030-a4a0-b18c87bbb019

  • How much does it normally cost for a 7 day trial?

      $7

    • Depends on the crime

    Optus network?

  • Last time they had this deal, there was nothing to enforce the "Limit one free trial per customer". I rolled a couple of services over until I could sign back up to Telstra.

  • Any limitations on changing plans after the trial?

  • Used it to test if it was amaysim that was awful or Optus in general, sad to say looks like Optus just has crap coverage in my apartment.

  • Anyone actually get an esim to work? Get to the point of giving my email then it says session expired. Doing this on a pixel 5. Have restarted my phone and reinstalled the Optus app. Online chat couldn't complete the signup, said I have to call support during their business hours

  • Unable to verify ID in the Optus app.

Chat staff clueless as to how to resolve the issue

  • interesting

  • Went to check this out (as I’m keen to find cheapest way to try Optus 5G to see how it compares with Telstra) and realised it’s limited to 4G.
