Kmart drying towel for $4.50 does a great job for the price.

    • +5

I concur with the excellent reviews this Bowden's Own product has - it really sucks.

The Kmart product probably sucks also, but in comparison.

    • You have never used one of these have you?

    • I have 2 K-Mart drying towels, and while they do the job, they do fill up with water quicker and means I need 2 for my medium-sized wagon (Volvo V60).

    • Post the Kmart one as your first deal

    • Kmart one is not bad for $4.50 but the green sucker blows it out of the water

Have a couple of the Green Suckers and they do a great job. But reckon the Mothers Platinum Microfibre towel, $18.95 on sale at Amazon atm is just as good - same size and same plush thick fibres to dry a car on one pass.

  • I would, but I'm still waiting on my sno cannon deal from last time. Its been 4 weeks now.

    • Have you rung them up to see what's going on?

      • Yeah, multiple times. It’s “in transit”

    • Dude just claim a refund and get one off ebay that has the brass fittings. They are the same crap and cheaper.

      • Have you got a link to one you use or recommend sAmiZZle?

        • +1

I bought mine 5 years ago, so unfortunately the link to the exact one I got is now dead. But I use it very often on a Gerni and it is still going just as strong as the day I got it with thick foam.

I paid $21 at the time for mine. From a quick search it looks the same as this one. You just have to make sure you get the right attachment for your type of pressure washer.

          • @sAmiZZle: Thank you. I've seen on youtube people often mod cheaper foam cannons with a smaller brass orifice (1.1mm) to make the foam creamier. Sounds like yours already gets it done.

      • +7

Today, I received a product from ebay, took 2 weeks, and not what was advertised. Reminded me how much ebay sucks, no reviews, infinite duplicate postings, dodgy sellers, it really needs to die.

        • Delays due to COVID postage delays? But yeah agree some sellers are absolute chumps on there.

          • @sAmiZZle: Now I have to wait 1 week just for the seller to reply to my refund claim

      • I used to have an eBay foam cannon, definitely not as good as the Bowden's Own cannon in terms of build quality and the thickness of foam produced

        • Which one did you get mate? There are many different types. All you need is thick foam. If it is a watery consistency then obviously it's no bueno, but once it is thick enough and holding for about 5mins on the surface, how much more thick do you need it to be? You can obviously alter the concentration but it's all largely dependent on:
          1. The pressure your washer produces
          2. The type of snow foam concentrate you use
          3. The amount of concentrate you use in the bottle (typically 50mls for thicccccc)

          • @sAmiZZle: I had one similar to https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175073210284
It was actually fine for a few months but it began to leak at the brass fittings
Disassembled and had to add some thread tape to it

            • +1

@Rapt0r: Ah ok. For me that was actually part of the initial setup instructions… at least for the one I got and the one I linked above

  • Good spotting op

  • +7

As mentioned every time these are on sale, if you don’t want green fibres on your vehicle then they need a wash and cool tumble first.

  • I love using the green sucker, have 3 of them… they well and truly suck!!!!!!

Partner this with the Bowdens Own boss gloss when drying the car and enjoy the slick finish. Their products are great for the weekend enthusiast like me.

Always wash before the first use!

    • Do you spray the boss gloss when the car is wet?

      • +2

Spray on to the towel and use the towel to dry the car off, whilst wet. Shake the bottle first! :)

  • People have a few so they can dry a few cars at once?

  • +13

I already have 7 of these. I should probably get a car so I can use them.

  • this thing SUCKS.

  • Can anyone recommend a microfibre cloth to keep in centre console to wipe over my centre console area and infotainment screen?

  • I have 2 already. (Profanity) me. Do I need another one?

    • +1

Nope. You need another 2 to 3 minimum.

  • I use an XL chamois, easy to wring out and carry on. Please explain why I need one of these microfiber towels instead?

I use a wash &wax with a microfiber sponge to wash.
    XL chamois to dry.
    Microfiber cloths plus spray wax.

    • chamois can drag dirt etc across paint when drying your car, causing fine scratches within your paint

      • Surely that's the same with any cloth or towel? When I drop the chamois I just rinse with the hose and wring out then get back to drying. With the microfiber towels you would have to wash and wait for it to dry before use again?

        • Chamois doesnt hold as much water which means wringing it out all the time. I can do two medium cars with my Green Sucker without wringing out.
Chamois more likely to leave swirl marks and scratches
Chamois also tends to leave some water residue behind (varies from brand to brand, whether synthetic or microfibre etc).
Green Sucker is huge compared to a chamois, very hard to drop unless you're being very careless

  • One of the best suckers for sure!

  • +1

A mate of mine uses the blower before finishing it off with the big green sucker

    • +2

+1 Ryobi workshop blower to chase water out of crevices, and off the roof/bonnet, then dry with big green sucker + boss gloss

  • -1

Not gunna lie, we're all friends here. I use one to dry my &$#@.

  • Have one of these but reckon need two for each car wash as it gets fully wet and doesn't work well after wringing it out, leaves wet streaks/spots.

    • Use boss gloss and a blower.

    • My system is to do an initial wipe over a panel with a green sucker and then finish the dry with the yellow Maguirs equivalent, so easy to see which is which. Ona big car one cloth isn’t enough, by the end you get streaks. The two cloths dry the car fully.
The green sucker is the more absorbent of the two which is why I use it first, but not much in it.

      • I've gone back to a chamois, easy to wring out and no more wet streaks.

        • Except chamois is more likely to scratch up the paint.

        • A chamois will do it better, these are quicker.
I still use a chamois on the glass surfaces after running over with the BGS. This is also because I have used a sPray on ceramic treatment before the rinse.

  • +1
    • Link to a cotton towel that has the same absorption and scratch sparing properties?

      • a soft cotton towel isn't going to scratch anything any more than a microfiber one. People used to do it like that back in the day, absolutely normal.

        • A towel does not do the job anywhere near as well. End. Of. Story.

          • @entropysbane: I'm highly skeptical of that. Been using leather, normal towels and terry cloth since forever.

  • +1

Good for drying the dog after a bath as well.

  • +2

I bought into the hype and have been using it for a few months. I paid around $15 from memory.

Absorption-wise it’s excellent until it’s saturated. Then the same super absorbent properties make make it a PITA to wring out.

The other issue is the release of fine green lint. I thought it would subside with several uses but it’s still an issue.

I still get water stains with my sucker.

Finally the towel is difficult to move around the car being so big and heavy when saturated. I think I prefer using multiple smaller microfibre towels.

    • I share a very similar experience (and opinion) to what you wrote. I feel this product is a bit overhyped tbh.

  • this is a great towel, it really SUCKS

up a lot of water from your car to help dry it faster.

  • How do these compare to a $30 chamois? I've never used a microfibre towel to dry a car.

    • +1

Chamois are old school. If a dirt particle or tiny rock gets between your paintwork & the rubber/latex material, it will scratch your car. Quality microfibres are the new standard.

      • Thanks, I'll grab one of these then.

  • Anyone else have an absolutely horredous experience with just using the Repco website?

    • yup. Can't even log into my account. I need to check out as guest.

  • Was going to as why this post was changed from SCA to Repco…SCA price now expired.

It's $25 at my local (regional WA) for the B.O BGS at Repco.

Are other getting it at $24

This must be a Metro Price

  • is this good for a travel towel?
