[Pre Order] Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 256GB $1499.15 Shipped via Westpac Offers

960

For anyone with access to Westpac rewards/offers via a credit card, I managed to get the S22 Ultra 256gb for $1499.
You will need to access the Samsung site via your Westpac online banking account link.
It shows as $1699 but gets a further $200 off once you add any accessory or wearable (similar to the EDU store). e.g. I added the clear case which after discount is only about $20.

You can stack any trade-ins etc, on top, as others have had success in doing so (trade in from the shopping cart after you've added the s22).

Note that with this deal you do not get any of the preorder gifts.
But if they're not important to you then it's a pretty good price for the new s22 Ultra + a case. Or, add whichever accessory you want from the pre-order deals and it'll still work out cheaper than paying retail (e.g. Buds 2 are $186 and you can choose your colour unlike the preorder deal).

128gb is $1371.65
512gb is $1626.65
1TB is $1881.65
using the same method as above.

Edit: Other users have reported that if you add Samsung Care to cart before using the BONUSCARE code, then it will stack.

      So is Hungry Jack.

    • +1

      No

    • I own a zfold 3 and agree with you. The iPhone 13 pro max is the only one I would rank better though. Particularly as it can survive 2-3 days or normal usage. If samsung can pull that kind of battery usage then I'd probably choose a samsung

      • +8

But you did choose a samsung

        • -1

I chose it because I'm not brand loyal

          • +3

@maverickjohn: Looks like more of confused !

            • @EssendonUser: Far from it. I chose the fold as I wanted to try to see if the novelty of having a foldable phone was worth it. Sadly I don't think so. Secondly I got it on launch which cane out before the iPhone 13 line. My wife got the 13 pro max and as a person who has experienced both. There is no doubt that the iPhone 13 pro max is the better phone. It's better in photography, better in battery life, better in power. These are just objective comparisons.
People can be in denial all they want but this fanboyism of a brand is ridiculous people just need to be more open minded and give merit where merit is due.

              • @maverickjohn: The fold or flip are not particularly strong in camera.

                • @tukanglistrik: I had the note 20 ultra just prior to this as well.

                  • @maverickjohn: S20 ultra had serious focus issues. This is fixed in s21 ultra and I personally like the photography skills of it compared to my friend's iphone 13 pro max. Fold has its own merits from productivity perspective. It was never the best camera phone Samsung had. If camera was your primary purpose, you should have gone with S21 Ultra. Its not late, you can grab one S22 Ultra by trading your zfold 3.

              • -1

@maverickjohn: I don’t see how if somebody wanted a phone that is easier to carry around but also needed a tablet so bought a product that offers both things would be a fanboy for choosing that product when Samsung are pretty much the only ones to offer this? It sounds to me like you bought the wrong product for your needs? Apple doesn’t offer a comparable product?

If anything when people start comparing apples with something else that it starts to sound like fanboyism.

      • I have flip 3 and iPhone 13 pro max.
Every other time I try android I go grovelling back to iPhone. Not this time. I use the flip and get so much more joy. Genuine excited feeling when I bought it because it was something new. Honestly iPhone will win me back with a flip device because I'm over slabs with better batteries for $2000. Then add apple care.

    Education Store price?

    • Full education price list was posted earlier.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/682272

    • -5

What does it matter? Just wait 6 months and it will have half price

      • +12

Or wait 12 months there will be a new model.

        • Which won’t be that different from the previous years model

  • can not seem to find the offer in my westpac portal. is it for credit card user only?

    • +1

Quiet likely. I used to be a Credit Card and Banking Customer, changed to only Banking Customer due to refinance. I can't see any Rewards or Offers in my Westpac login.

    • I'm not a credit card user, but if you go to this link it should let you buy

      • "To login in to the Westpac Offers Samsung Store, you o be an employee of Westpac Offers and have a Samsung account. Please log in with your Samsung Account. If you don't have a Samsung account, sign up below."

I am not an employee of westpac.

    • +1

Says credit or debit card holders. Cancelled my Westpac credit card a year and can access this.

    • +2

Just scroll down in rewards and you'll see the samsung store link thing. You don't need a credit card for this.

      • yes, thanks, can confirm that online bank users are eligible. just have to find the small Samsung icon hidden in the "load more"

  • Any trade-in promo with this?

    • "Trade-in Bonus
Receive a bonus of up to $250 when you trade-in3 up to 2 eligible devices4 on the Galaxy S22 series"

Don't have any more info than this, but might be worth checking out if you have an eligible device.

  • +1

    free care+ with BONUSCARE

    • I tried this before purchasing, but the code won't work in conjunction with the $200 discount, so it seems you'll need to choose between the two.

      • +1

How to access $200 discount? Is that $50 sign up + $150 loyalty ???? Thanks

        • it's automatically applied when you add an accessory or wearable to your cart.

          • @sassypants: Then im lucky. Cause i got that + tradein bonus + bonus care

            • +1

@Nguyeniaht: I've read elsewhere that you can apply BONUSCARE by first making sure you add it to your cart before using the coupon, which i didn't do. So this may well work using that method.

              • @sassypants: This worked for me too, just adding the code without adding samsung care first didnt work

  • 400 bonus trade in applicable ?

    • The trade-in banner is shown and there is the option in the shopping cart, however I don't have an eligible device that I can test it with, sorry.

      "Trade-in Bonus
Receive a bonus of up to $250 when you trade-in3 up to 2 eligible devices4 on the Galaxy S22 series"

  • So initial price isn't cheaper than EDU right?

    • Initial price on EDU is $1599

I've heard a lot of complaints about OnePlus lately, they aren't up to the same standard they once were.

      • -4

        oh recent hey how recent

  • -5

The camera is the same as the 21?
The screen is the same as previous models?
    What's the reason to upgrade.

    • -4

I feel like my 2yo Note10 is exactly the same. Cameras have been updated but I don't take much photos anyway lol

    • +3

Literally both false. Wherever you're getting your information from, is not accurate.

Camera system is better in both hardware, and software processing.

Screen achieves higher maximum brightness and better response times & latency.

      • It is a feeling, nothing exciting coming from a Note10 except the refresh rate. I will be more hyped when the cost to update will be around $1000

      • +4

        S22 Ultra: 6.8-inch, Quad HD+, 1-120Hz
        S21 Ultra: 6.8-inch, Quad HD+, 10-120Hz

        S22 Ultra: Quad rear (108MP + 12MP + 10MP + 10MP), 40-megapixel front camera
        S21 Ultra: Quad rear (108MP + 12MP + 10MP + 10MP), 40-megapixel front camera
On paper, there isn't a huge amount of difference in the camera setup to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

      • If you've actually got a source to somewhere that shows the rear facing camera hardware in the s22u is different to the s21u i'd be interested. The current spiel about the camera is that it is the same hardware, they have just greatly improved the software, opting to improve the way the hardware is used instead of developing new hardware.

        • From what I've read the S22 Ultra uses higher quality glass for the cameras, but can't find the source for this. However what's more important is the telephoto lenses use the newer IMX754 sensor, while the S21 Ultra used the ISOCELL 3J1. These changed combined with the software processing evolution should show noticeable improvements over the S21 Ultra. Wait for reviews to be sure anyway, but all the early leaks and current reviews coming out today seem to show the superiority of the S22 Ultra.

Just pulled the trigger, traded in my S21 128gb for the 256gb S22 Ultra.

Total was broken down as below:

    256gb S22U - $634.75
    Samsung care+ - $149.40
    S22U silicone case - $27.30

    Paid incl GST = $811.45

    • what was trade in value?

      • $465 Trade-in value

        • must be a slow brain day for me. Can you explain how you got to the $634.75 figure

          • @andresampras: Not entirely sure but it was something I couldn't pass up, total savings came to $1,375.95.

After adding Samsung care+ and the silicone case, add promo code BONUSCARE. It discounted another 200 I believe.

            • +2

              @MR MR: fantastic purchase!

hope they don't realise what they've done and renege

    • Care+ shud b free. I tried 2 times.

      • I think it was.

The way it was broken down I think they had to show payment for it hence the phone dropping so low?

    • did the trade-in & got charged the value of the device straight away on my card… thought you get charged if you fail to send the device back

      • Same thing happened go me so I went with purchase.

NOW they charge full value, if you don't send the phone it gets credited back but then they charge $60 admin fee.

    • i dont get that how i have s21 ultra 512gb if i trade in with id will i get some massive discount?

  • Wonder if other banks will be doing this, sad since I'm not westpac customer

  • +7

    512GB for $1826.65
    add Samsung care+ $149
    apply code BONUSCARE -$149
    add any Accessories -$200
    trade-in any eligible device -$250

    Finally, 512GB s22 ultra with Samsung care+ for $1376.65 + Accessories price - trade-in device value.
For me, it is 512GB s22 ultra with Samsung care+ and a clean cover for $1391.65 after s8 plus trade-in.
    Great deal!

    • Thanks OP, Ditto :))

    • Do they actually ask for the trade in device?

      • What do you think?

        • +1

Well some users have said they never had to return it.

          • @TomGum: They make you leave credit card details and they pull the value out of that. Supposedly because others didn't return their devices.

      • After you received the s22, you have 7 days to return the trade in device.
Otherwise you will be charged for the trade in device value (for s8 it is $5) plus extra $60 admin fee.

      • You get trade-in device fee usually something crap like $10 for iphone 7 and if you don't return the fone there is now samsung admin fee of $60 that WILL BE IMPOSED; forget about those saying they do not charge, because thats in the past! Most certainly do charge now since late last year. I got charged for one in Dec whereas they did not charge the Admin fee back in around sept/Oct when I traded in before. Cheers

        • i didnt get charged for my z fold order in dec.

if you're really worried then use a debit card with only the value of the phone as its balance

    • Darn it… I need to call them to adjust my order because i didn't know about the bonus care…

For the record though, I think you need to spend a bit over $200 on accessories to get a further discount to your device :|

      • No, the offer description is incorrect, actually you can add any accessories even a $20 case to get the $200 discount automatically at checkout.

        • 100% you're right! Omg… Just tried it and totally regret putting my order through without reading the other posts x x

Going to try and cancel it tomorrow, then see if I can get it reprocessed. I save on the Samsung care AND I save a bit extra with the purchase of the case.

How to sell a phone in 2022.

Come up with a desired retail price
    Bump it up by 50%
Offer huge discounts to bring it back to where you're still making a 100%+ profit on each one.
Poor Consumers think they get a good deal and buy it and have zero guilt because they're getting a good deal.
Manufacturer wins because they're making a sh1t tonne

I feel the cost to manufacture a phone due to the quantities they're making has largely plateaued yet they still find ways to charge us another 10% a year.

    • +5

I feel the cost to manufacture a phone due to the quantities they're making has largely plateaued yet they still find ways to charge us another 10% a year.

You forget all the R&D they pay for in developing these phones. Or isn't like they just pick parts in 5 minutes and go "that's it! We just made the new iphone!".

      • Each year has just become better cameras and a slightly better screen. Not like theyre reinventing the wheel yearly

        • Those better camera and slightly better screen still need R&D.

Going from memory when speaking to someone working in intel cpu fab plant. The r&d was constant year on year. I dont see phone manufacturers doing any differently. They are constantly fabricating prototypes.

      • The screen and camera are basically the same. Same materials for the construction, so not sure where the R&D money goes.

        • Even if the exact same camera modules and the exact same screens where used. There would have been tweaking involved. That involves you guessed it research.

    • +1

Yep. Samsung is copying apple off ripping people off.

But there still more value in samsung phones than apple.

  • How can I find the access link if I am westpac credit card holder? Thx

    • Login online bank or westpac apps, find the rewards and offers section, go through the samsung store offer.
For apps, it is Home - credit card — rewards and offers at bottom.

    • When you locate Rewards & Offers, you may need to scroll to the bottom and click on the "More" button to get Samsung to show up.

  • Samsung has a good relation with westpac, they were supporting samsung devices from S5

  • No thanks if Australia is getting the Exynos treatment again.

    • Apparently aus is getting snapdragon 8 gen 1.

      • Highly doubt that

        • This is a fact: We’re getting the SD 8 Gen 1 model.

    • have we seen benchmark of the Exynos chip this time with AMD GPU?

  • does anyone know what kind of westpac credit card you need or even the basic credit card is eligible for these offers? can you access the Samsung offer with a debit card? thanks

    • I dont have a credit card with westpac. Just my debit card and i can see the 15% off offer from samsung. You can also stack the 'bonuscare' code. Just add the care pack. Then put the bonus care code and it discounts it.

  • If they didn't address the battery drain issue im going with apple this year

    • +2

I will never switch to apple. No matter what!

  • All I have is a Westpac Choice Savings account. No credit card.
Just clicked through Rewards & Offers at the top and this deal came up for me.

    Thanks OP

  • Tried to trade in my fold 3 and it says device ineligible 😔

    • How is fold 3?

      • Fragile, need to look after a lot. so looking to trade in if possbile

  • +1

If you download the new Westpac App there's a section in profile -> rewards and offers -> Samsung that lets you order for this price even with no credit card
