Vintage: The 2018 growing season started slowly, but warmer weather eventually helped to speed things up. Fruit set throughout the region was good and the low rainfall and warm weather from January to April resulted in great sugar development, while a cooler than average March offered ideal night temperatures for colour and flavour development.

Nose: The nose offers a big bouquet of raspberries and cherries with a dash of pepper and other spices.

Palate: The palate is big, rich and seductive with the berry fruit following through, complemented by a hint of minerality and great structure on the lingering finish.

  • “Large format” ~= Cask

    Good deal though.

    • +1

Correct! Cask is also a type of large format - one we leave to other producers to make ;-)
Cheers and thanks for the order! Have a great weekend.
      RD :-)

    • More a flagon than a cask.

      • Is that 2L?
The names these things all collect is bewildering!
        :-)

  • Are these screw or cork?

  • novelty of imperial magnums have worn off for me, still have some 20 year old ones, probably past their best drinking , but hard to find occasion to open 6 litres of wine ….. stink i will stick with 750ml or if same price per litre even prefer 375 ml so all gets drunk sooner when opened …. have people that offer you wine at their house that was opened a week ago.

They have their moments in life. We often open them at celebrations, staff Christmas parties, family gatherings, wine club dinners. They make great gifts for birth year wines - we have a number of 2015s for our little to enjoy with her friends and family likely long after I've gone!
Of course, larger the format, the better the aging.
As for those that are past it, perhaps get them up on Langton's there's always a market for them!
      Cheers RD :-)

    • I would love 375ml, easier for drinking alone.

      I bought a 6L, simply for a huge birthday! 👌

      • +2

Drinking alone? That's what 750ml is for ;-)

        • Haha, I struggle! I need more practice I spose ☺️

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]: hahaha - I won't even begin to talk about my bottle a night…..
You'll have to come down for some training ;-)

            • @RD ADL: Haha

        • Drinking alone? That's what 6L is for.

          There. Fixed.
          ;-)

  • Paid, but for some reason the transaction is pending in my PayPal?

    • All good. Happens occasionally. Resolves itself within 24 hours. Cheers RD :-)

      • Beautiful thanks

  • Can we see the pic RD?

  • Thanks OP, this is a great drop - bought a 3L just then

    • That's terrific. thanks for that. Much appreciated. Cheers! RD :-)

I got the bec hardy range a few months ago … it wasn't to my taste …

        • +1

Would actually be useful if you provided insight on products you sampled and their faults. Not just vague half sentences.

          • @Spectacular: All good. Not every wine suits everyone's palate. One of the great aspects of wine is it's subjective nature and the debate it stirs.
@Weezelbub was describing his experience in this thread here -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/682497#comment-11751684
I'm also led to believe from a deleted board message that he feels Bec Hardy is cashing on the success of the old family business.
            Cheers! RD :-)

  • Hey @RD, what are the dimensions of the 3 & 6 litre bottles? trying to see if i have room in my fridge

    • Hi Ford. Roughly unboxed:

      6L 50cm high, width 15cm
      3L 43cm high, width 13cm

      Hope that helps. Cheers! RD:-)

  • Love your work RD. High quality, great value wines (probably best value in Aus on sale). Judging from the comments our money is supporting nice people running a good business, too. Perfect.

I've noticed it says free shipping on OB and on some website parts but when I go to ship to Victoria it tries to charge me $14. Is there a trick to free shipping? My partner and I always have some of your wine ready to go.

    • Hi Jigram. thanks for the kind words and continued support for Bec's wines. Free shipping on the website kicks in on all orders at $150+ (this mean around 93% of all orders are shipped free). Occasionally from time-to-time there are deals posted here or made available through our newsletter where we periodically offer free shipping in conjunction with a special price. Cheers! RD :-)

      • No worries I'll just order more!
