Where to Buy a Good High Quality Leather Belt Online in Australia

I am looking to buy few causal belts for my pants and jeans but I am not sure where to get a good quality leather belt at an affordable price ($25 - $50 price range).

I had a very bad experience with belt from Kmart and Target. They don't last long as they crack.

What kind of leather should I go for and where can I buy? Please recommend and share your experience.

A few good suggestions here from a forums post a year or two ago.

You won’t get quality at that price.
Better off at your local market
    Or RM Williams
Or an online saddle maker/leather shop
The belts from the shopping centre are all bonded leather junk

    • I am located in Pakenham, Victoria.
Not many belt shops near me.

Found only two https://tradingstables.com.au/a/search?q=belt and https://koalawears.com.au that are selling full grain leather belt.

Not sure if they are any good.

Market like queen Vic. Dandenong, etc.

You choose quality of leather and the buckle you like. They make it up.

I think I paid about $20 or so (after compulsory haggling) for real leather belt I wear most days for last few years. No issues.

Edit: sorry, missed the online part …

        • Likewise - got a good quality leather belt from the EKKA (Brisbane Show) years ago. Still going strong.

        • Definitely Queen Vic Market, that's where I got a couple of mine. Cut to size perfectly, holes where you want them and cheaper than most of the shit in stores that will just break or fall apart.

    • Gotta say that most leather belts these days are total rubbish
      Just as Stewardo above says
They dont last long at all.

  • Do R.M. Williams belts ever go on sale?

    • I have never seen them on sale.

    • $65-75 without being at the annual clearance would be acceptable

I got my last belt from Hip Pocket Workwear. It's the Hard Yakka Foundation. It's $48 (+ shipping I assume). It is a real leather belt (not that layered PVC/fake leather shit) and in the 4 years I have been wearing it (5 days a week) it still presents as almost new.

All my work shit gets hung off this belt. Hammers, power tools, rags, keys, multitool pouch, and it just keeps on keeping on.

Try tactical or workwear places, not Target/Kmart. Use what industry professionals use, not dress belts from fashion outlets.

    • Their plain belt looks good, but their is very limited.

I am look for couple of plain (black and brown) belt and stitched causal belt for my jeans.

      • What did you find that was better?

        • There style and price for full grain leather. I just placed my order with them. Paid via PayPal so can easily return it. Got free express shipping too.

    • +1, got one of their belts from ebay a few years ago and it is still going strong.

I got my belt from a shop called Koalawears - they are on ebay too.

I got 2 full grain belts for around $25 each and they are great quality.

Customer service was also fantastic - my order was lost in transit by Auspost and they immediately rectified the situation by sending out another 2 belts.

They even double checked if I ordered the right size as I ordered a belt on the lower end of the size chart, and recommended me size up based on my waist size.

I'm glad I followed their recommendation as the fit is great. Really recommend them as a local business.

  • Don't you watch the ads

  • The leather belts I bought from https://www.closethedeal.com.au/fashion/men-s-accessories/le… have all been great.
They promote themselves on OZB from time to time https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/closethedeal%20belt…

  • My husband found a couple of great ones - from the charity shop. Beautifully made, easy to clean and proceeds to a good cause:). Worth a try, perhaps.

I bought two from this guy. Made to measure. Nice and thick and all Aussie. https://www.thebeltman.com.au/

    • Their website says " Taking no sales at the moment. Upgrade of products coming soon."

  • I have bought 2 belts from here: https://buckle1922.com.au/men/australian-made-belts/?gclid=E…
Lasted for nearly 15 years so far. Only had to move up a few notches. One worn daily for work, the other for occasions

  • High quality and your $25-50 price range are generally incongruous.

However, in that price range look at Bostanten leather ratchet belts. Someone on OzB recommended them a couple of years ago and having now worn them myself for a while, they are brilliant. No more worrying about wearing out the holes for continually using the same fit, or if you need to be between holes for the day/week/month, you can make micro-adjustments, as they use a ratchet system that can adjust for millimetres and holds the belt at the edges.

    Plenty of colours and styles.

  • It's not leather, but I can highly recommend a Grip6 belt I got a few years back for Xmas.

Holds my fats inside my jeans really well, no sign of wear or tear yet

    https://grip6.com/

    • looks like it's designed for super skinny people :(

      • nah, I'm 150kg with a decent gut, and it fit's me ok with about 3 inches spare belt

        • really? hot damn. I'm 110 with dad gut. I'll get some and post my mileage!

          check back in 4 weeks!

          • @Shroomlet: I'm back!

Turns out Inzo is right. Bloody things fit well and are comfy even slouching in chairs all day. I didn't want to like it but I just bought another one.

  • We have bought from this company before, the ratchet system is really good as no wear & tear in the holes in the belt as they dint have any at all
