SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive SDCZ430-032G-G46 - 256GB
These overheat and get super slow for any largish file. Beware.
and stop working after 6 months from my experience
Mine has been working for the last ~6 years, constantly plugged in. These days I need to be careful when I plug it out because the plastic shell has started to give up.
I had one since last gen, it started to pretty much only write and read slowly. Went thru RMA easily and they sent this black one as replacement. So keep receipts. Kudos to SanDisk for their RMA.
Samsung metal USBs. Mine have been solid and they have less overheating issues.
I have one of these Kingston DataTravelers and it's about the only one I own that actually has good speeds. I would rather it was a retractable style though.
Sandisk CZ48 series is good at similar price but bulky.

For writing but not bad for reading.
I've got a 128GB model to store FLAC audio files for our Marantz/VAF stereo.
I use a 128GB one and it runs VERY HOT. Still, it has worked for 1.5 years now.
Does it run very hot immediately or only if you leave it in the USB port for a long time? I just need a large size USB card for data backup and transfer only. I don’t need to leave it plugged in all the time.
Runs hot when i am actually using it. For example when I transfer a 100MB sound file over. If I don't use it at all it isn't hot.
Ok so if it’s plugged in and not having data transfe to/from it then it’s fine?
@D1977: Yup. Mine is fine if no files are being transferred.
@TassieTommy: Cheers. I can live with it only being hot when there’s data being copied to/from it. Thanks again. Ordering the 256GB.
