There is already a post about the $300 cash back for Ultrabook but according to that post most people checked with Harvey Norman yesterday said that the discounted models are not included.

But today I have checked several Harvey Normans all said the $300 Cash Back includes all Ultrabook no matter what price they are. Gordon NSW store even checked with head office and confirmed.

So this post is just to remind people about this special and see if you can find the $788 Acer S3 Ultrabook but most store already sold out.

Because this is really a bargain a lot of people may misleaded and miss out if they read the previous ozbargain post.

I bought one today for $788 if anyone called HN and they said no, ask them to call their Head Office to confirm. I am 100% sure about this because i have passed by a few HNs today and asked. Finally found one with stock.

If you think this a dup please delete.

I would suggest here who bought it for $788 before cash back please give me a +ve so that we will know how many ozbargainers got it at this price :)

    In Victoria both Fontain Gate and Cranbourne are honouring the deal, and I think that someone said that they got one from Watergardens.

    I got one today from Maribyrnong HN at $788 i spoke to a sales rep that confronted me that directed me to this ultrabook had a chat to someone and happily gave it to me at $788 and said the $300 cashback is able to be done but normally not valid, he entered my details in his pc during sale said so when i lodge cashback it will be honoured,
    not sure if he used this as a sales technique but he said the one i got was the last new one they had in stock didnt ask about display model.

    Woot, got the last one from the Frankston store (demo). I asked the guy to write on the invoice about the cashback, took a photo too etc…. going overseas this coming fri…..bring it down to ~$410. Bargain!!! fingercross with the cashback. Dont think they have a leg to stand on if it being deny :).

          $788 is on the invoice….GST = $71.xx…….When i am going overseas, the traveller scheme give back the GST/10%…. Dunno if they are going to look at the cashback section or not :).

          Yeah he is correct $410 deduct $71 GST instead of $48.

          Also like Edu Tax Return, half of $788 instead of $488.

    Avoid Auburn DM , went there twice in past 2 day, the sales person told me there is none left and speak to another sales without asking the cashback, told me there are 2 unit left can give to me, and mentioned the cash back , he telling not to believe it and show me the TC saying each individual franchise can wavie,cancel or mod any promotion with out notice then just walk off told me to take a pic of the T&C before come back, what da dick. totally avoid.

    I just found the better choice: HP Folio 13-1016TU Ultrabook Laptop which is current $996

    Comparing with acer $788 ones

    The HP Folio has Gigabit Ethernet, backlit keyboard, USB3, SSD and better battery which means it should have better performance.

    They are only $200 difference, but you also can claim a Beats Solo from HP.

    Oh, I was blind. I should choose this HP ultrabook. I wanna return it and buy a HP one.

      At first I was also thinking to buy the HP but finally bought the Acer S3 because I read a review about the noise from the machine and the heat.

      Yeah, I don't think the Acer is a bad choice still.
      Personally, the last time I used ethernet it was to setup a router, backlit is far from necessary, USB3 might have been nice but then again I still don't have any USB3 drives, the Acer has a basic SSD for fast resume and performance is fine for normal use and battery isn't an issue for how I intend on using it. If you have the extra $$$ to throw at it, it's not a bad upgrade but the Acer is a great budget choice IMO.
      Take that $200 saved and spend it on a real pair of headphones. ;)

      I email them yesterday and got a reply as follows:

      "We have received a number of vouchers so cannot tell you at this stage if I have received yours

      We should have all payments done within 4-6 weeks "

      I am surprise with the next day response, so they did receive the forms.

    Btw anyone has problems with this S3 model wireless internet drop out intermittently?? I have updated to the latest driver, updated bios etc. Still has intermittent problems every ~3-4 hours. I did the research and lots of ppl has the same problems tooo.

    To junk3569, could it be the problem of your modem? or possibly compatibility issues…try WEP, WPA, WPA2, 802.11b, g,n…

      Thank you for your help. I have another laptop, works perfectly fine with the wireless network. I bought a USB LAN adapter and used on the S3, it works perfectly fine. It come down to the wireless hardware not being stable. Before updating the driver, it drops out and cant connect back most of the time. After updating the firmware, it drops out and connect back 98% of the time. Unless you use MSN/surfing the web constantly, you may not notice it.

      I guess the firmware is a band aid fix!

      I also think I scored a good deal, as during the week of the "sale", I received 2 x $100 Cash back cards for a Lenovo purchased by my company, the deal was 1 x $100 Cash back Card but I received 2, bear in mind that my company paid for my Lenovo. Effectively, the Acer Ultrabook cost me $ 288 and I can still claim the Ultrabook as Uni Education expenses at $788 come year end ! Thanks to all contributors to this deal.
