Bowers & Wilkins PI5 True Wireless In-Ear Headphones $269 Delivered ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ David Jones

200

Was looking for new wireless headphones and noticed the price was much better at DJ than other stores.

I don't know if they are good or not. Maybe someone can elaborate a bit.

Addicted to audio sells them for $369.

      "Cons: Charging cable is USB-C-only"

Colour me pink, that's a tough audience, however:

      "the $249.99 Bowers & Wilkins PI5"

dated June last year makes me go "Uh?"

I bought wireless earphones a while ago with wireless charging specifically so I can charge them in the car on the way to the gym. I wouldn't buy a pair without that option.

How is a wireless charger any different to a usb-c cable while in the car

          • -1

@Amila45: One has a wire, one doesn't? Car has charging pads that are just there, usbc is under a panel. The whole point of about wirelss charging is about convenience. If you don't get that, I'm not sure how I can explain it.

            • @[Deactivated]: Wow, you are being down voted for preferring wireless charging to a cable, tough audience!

              • -1

@OzzyOzbourne: Apparently the fact that I find wireless charging slightly more convenient than wired charging is an issue on ozbargain.

How often will your earphone AND the case be out of charge? Never ever happened to me in many years of using wireless earphones lol

Can’t comment on these but sound quality of all B&W products I’ve used are fantastic, especially their IEMs and Head Phones

I got some Focal headphones based on peraonal experience and reputation of the Home audio and car apeakers.

Just because a company can do 1 thing great, doesn't mean they can do it all.

    • +2

Depends on the model: the Elear/Elex, Clear, and Utopia are all good Focal headphones, but there's plenty of misses in terms of either overall value or quality.

But there's a lot of brands that are trading on old reputations, or the reputation of specific models, and some which just have a weird house sound despite good technical know-how.

B&W is a little of all three, best known for their studio monitor loudspeakers, which apparently need exceptionally good current flow from a speaker amp to get the best out of them.

PI7 is the one to go for if price is no issue. On the other hand, the deal price on the PI5 makes it a great buy indeed.

Only A$19.01 more than the new price quoted in dwarves' article from 23rd June 2021…

  • Any headphone recommendation for phone calls? Seems like most of the in-ear headphones have very bad call quality.

    • +1

I use SoundPeats T2 for a lot of phone calls, so far no-one has had trouble hearing me

Wait for Bluetooth LE Audio products, which will improve the bandwidth allocated for such things.

You're also looking for something with a mic array, and decent AI (machine learning) filtering to clean up your voice, as without having the mic in front of your mouth, there's obviously a great deal of difficulty in picking up your voice clearly in a noise-free environment, let alone out in the world.

      • +1

Thanks a lot. Will wait for bluetooth LE products then.

Regarding the mic array and AI, Any specific models/brands to look out for?

        • +1

From what I've seen of manufacturers dabbling in this so far, Samsung (aka AKG) are doing things right on the IEM side.

Sennheiser, Sony and AKG will probably be pushing the hardest in both earphone and headphone technology going forward.

these endless headphone purchases have to stop!!!

    • +7

So does the overuse of exclamation marks.

  • -4

why take a risk get other well known brands at similar prices, samsung/sony/Sennheiser

    • +1

I’d like to go shopping for speakers with you…

"get other well known brands "

I wouldn't suggest that the fact you don't know the name is a necessary and sufficient condition to reject your "expertise", however I will suggest that is a comment on a par with " Don't get a Lexus, they are a niche market whereas Toyota are well known…

Others will do it for me.

    No, I didn't waste a neg.
