Portable Office Booth (Silent Box) in Australian Apartments?

Just an open question and seek if anyone got any experience.

Given new apartments in Sydney nowadays are just getting more tiny, if it comes with a bigger balcony it will be a waste.
I do see silent boxes around in the market and they are a good size for an office, especially you got kid. Thinking of this option benefit a lot for WFH culture with lots of meeting.

Having said that, it doesn't come cheap either. Not sure this would be something could be a pain dealing with Strata
and thinking can this be a tax return item :D

Just wonder anyone has experience owning one?

    Worked for Max and Chief.

Or just use mind reading like you just did! :)

Almost anyone that ever watched that show thought of that, has nothing to do with mind reading

Yes, they missed it by that much.

It NEVER worked for Max and the Chief. Not even the Wardobe of Silence worked or the mini cone of silence. Max insisted and the Chief hated them all but had to give in because Max invoked the regulations.

    • I used to demand this at work every time a quiet meeting place was suggested……

… not to mention there’s a hot rumour that Apple are developing a shoe phone to be called iPhone 86.

Is this another name for thunder box?

    • Only if you line it with acoustic tiles.

When you die from overwork they can just seal it up and cremate you.

      • Lol!!

Feeling dark humoured today aren't we!!!

I was gonna say: literal interpretation of "back in your box"

        But, he looks so happy…

Could be the makeup from the mortuary?

FFS dont show that to the managers at work, they'd have a 40 ordered overnight

Is something like this on the balcony a practical solution?

    https://futuremusic.com.au/products/silence-booth-acoustic-p…

    • Nifty!

    • Practical for what exactly?

      • Balcony office space

        • and what for exactly…
2x 34inch screens, laptop, docking station, keyboard, Printer, scanner, phone + mobile, webcam and a pair of speakers ??

    • I mean you need to answer that question personally, not us.

No way would that be a suitable option for me. Sounds like you need to upsize your accommodation.

    • Looks cool but it's built like a greenhouse, so on the balcony in summer, it'll be like a sauna!

Doesn't say anything about it being weatherproof either!

  • Headphones.

Way cheaper, way more convenient and likely more practical.

OP doesn’t have kids, right? Every father quickly learns how to prioritise aural, nasal and visual inputs.
‘I never heard little Nauseous cry’, ‘I couldn’t smell that putrid nappy’. And the art of ‘doggo’ when kid is crying at night.
Completely unnecessary expense unless sport is being consistently interrupted….
