this is 4G version, so Exynos 990. Don't buy.

    • This is a false statement, logically. They use both the SD and exynos in 4G and 5G.
This particular product maybe exynos version, since we mostly get exynos in Australian market, but I dont know why some people going on about it, every time galaxy deal comes up.
Sd maybe better in bench but most of the average people like myself wouldn't feel a difference, unless we play some high-end game for 3 hours straight, everyday (i don't know if i would, even if i did)
Unless you are that sensitive, sd vs exynos does not matter at all, imho.

Love the way u correct ppl like this…

Unfortunately u are making a false statement too.
We mostly get exynos in Australian IN 2020,
but since all 2021 versions are SD, so most likely the brand new s20 fe u could get today are the SD ones, unless for those old stocks that no one wants to buy.

Also even if it's not for the bench marks, u could still feel the differences in average use, for example the pre-load time of a game; when u switching camer lenses; the temp differences not 3hours but just 15min gaming.

It's not just a CPU but also the graphic the modem, they put everything on it and call it system on a chip. When this first came out the SD version cost $150 more,
if this really won't matter then no one will buy the SD version and they should be making the exynos version in 2021 instead.

I have no idea what they're on about as well and I cringed hard from their first sentence. Clearly not particularly happy with my reply given the downvote.

        • +1

I do not want to argue over nothing. I said "4G version=exynos" is a false statement, (is it not?). I did not try to correct anyone, I just shared my thought and opinion, because I had one.

          • @Trhrd: Dude, if you don't know any better don't try to correct people!

The 2020 4G version had the Exynos.

          • @Trhrd: dude saying ppl making a false statement is not a good way to start a conversation or share ur opinions.
Especially when u made a false statement right after ur accusation.

They use both the SD and exynos in 4G and 5G.

No they don't make exynos version in 5g.

            • -4

@samelight: Once again, I dont want to argue over nothing, just move on with your life. Ty for teaching me a lesson. Bye.

              • @Trhrd: You c this is where u trolling the others,
when u accusing other ppl why don't u just move on with ur life?

                when u saying

                "4G version=exynos" is a false statement

u are educating, but when I told u

they don't make exynos version in 5g

                then I'm argue over nothing?

dude u really need to work on ur attitudes, u got any friends in ur real life? Do u really a real life to move onto instead of trolling ppl here?

          • @Trhrd: just stop mate

      • False statement? Logically? It shouldn't need to be said, but saying "logically" doesn't add credence to your rebuttal.

The statement above was 100% truth going off the spec sheet and you're wrong about the Exynos 990 as well. It is noticeably worse.

They use both the SD and exynos in 4G and 5G.

Oh one more thing, they don't use exynos in 5g, not for the s20 fe.

    • it's confusing

in other countries , there are 4g version with sd865

the 4g/5g modems/chip are separate from the soc

  • +1

    Exynos 990 865

    SD 865 or Exynos 990?

    • +2

      its catch being funny

    • +5

      I heard it's got 45G as well

    • +11

There are 2 versions of 4G S20 FE, Original Exynos 990 in 2020, then SD 865 in 2021

    • +7

This is worthy of a neg alone - dodgy pricks.

    • +2

Could be old stock Exynos versions they're flogging off

  • +1

Price beat this at Officeworks while you can

    • OW don't have white,do they do price beat for different colours?

      • Good call, didn't realise. You could get lucky but they should only price match like for like items (so yeah same color).

      • No - needs to be exact same model and colour. Tried to do price match with Amazon when the blue was on sale but OW don't stock it. I rang JB and some stores will match on same model/different colour but only against bricks and motar store . OW will match Aus Amazon.

        • they would probably do it on Samsung's sku to be sure

  • +1

would you guys buy this or the new Galaxy A52 for $440?

  • -5

i would probably go with a s20 5g sd version but failing that the A52 has a lot of good feautures like 3.5 and sd card

i would probably not take exynos under any circumstances since i've in the snapdragon ecosystem

    • +13

Ecosystem? Bruh it's just the CPU.

      • +7

Yeah dumbest comment ever. What ecosystem?

      • +3

The number of people throwing around terms they heard from YT videos these days are disturbing 😔

        • -1

err audio wise, aptx, aptxhd etc

its obvious to me but oh well, i dont expect much from this place

besides headphones there's standalone BT receivers that work better w/ snapdragon

    • +3

"Snapdragon ecosystem" lmao wtf is that

    • wth is a snapdragon ecosystem???

  • +3

"CPU: Exynos 990 865 Octacore" yeah nah, risk of being Exonys

  • So has anyone clarified if SD?

  • +2

I have 5G turned off on my current device and find the battery lasts much longer.
I know 5G is faster, but for regular phone users like me the difference is not noticeable.
I think this is still a good buy :)

    • +5

The funny thing is we don't even have 4g fully covered in major cities.

    • Do you have a 5g sim?

      • there is no difference in a sim,

both 4G and 5G sim are the same thing,

Only thing different is carrier locking your 5G network access, especially with Optus, and Telstra sims.

      • I'm on a plan that gives me 5G access, if that's what you meant to say, yes.

  • Exynos 990. Avoid.

Do the slightest task and the CPU will choke and overheat and throttle and the display will downclock to 60Hz.

    Avoid.

    • Agree, even web browsing outdoors makes the Exy 990 throttle pretty quickly. They eat battery too. Had one a while ago and sold it. Snapdragon 855 phones perform better in real-world usage, let alone 865/870

      • -1

Yeah. I had the S20 FE exynos and realised what a pos it was about 10 minutes in. Changed it for the 5G Snapdragon variant and oh damn that phone was godly.

My current S21 Exynos is alright, I prefer the SD865. SD888 is also trash because it's fabbed by Samsung (ironically) and not TSMC.

  • SD is a selling point. If that spec is not made clear then expect exynos

  • Network compatibility: 3G/4G
    Exynos 990

No 5G, it is hence essentially no better any other decent 5G phone, like A52 for 649 from Big W

  • Irrespective what argument people have about this phone, it's positives and potential deficiencies , it's still a good price.
I'd buy one if there were any left, so obviously was still a desirable commodity…
