Last deal with 130 upvotes was $271.5 + delivery through bing lee (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/682769)

Considering refurb sold via Sony Australia eBay, this is a pretty nice deal.

        Considering refurb

        Do they clean them?

        • I would imagine so, if it's an official refurbished product…

          • +7

@dm02: I bought the XM3 earbuds refurbs from their ebay store. They sent me a broken pair, followed by replacement with a broken pair. It's as if when people return their devices, they don't really refurb and test them, they make the people buying from the ebay store test them. They come with a new set of inserts

            • @bobvegas: Yep, I had some hits and misses with their refurbished items.
I bought a MHC-V11 speaker and when I plugged it in it didn't work at all. Checked everything and found that the power cord was cut 3/4 through. Nice clean cut as if it was done with a sharp knife/carpet cutter. Not being dramatic but could have easily killed someone.
Reported it to them and from memory their only response was along the lines" okay send it back to us".
I changed the power cord and has been working fine since.
I can only imagine that during the initial unboxing someone cut the cord. Returned it to Sony and Sony didn't even look at it and simply sold it as refurbished.

    • $335 brand new at Amazon right now.
Last best deal was with Bing Lee at $271

      • $335 brand new at Amazon right now.

They are not refurbs, so can't compare.

        • Well boss, you can see the original price on the eBay listing…

          • -1

@Danny N: You haven't posted why this price is a bargain.

It is a refurb… If you are lucky, it will come with someone else's earwax in then.

They were $271 for new ones…

            • +8

@jv: Yes he did. He/She said the last best price was 271 for new ones. These are cheaper but are refurbs. That’s probably all the buyer needs to know. Do you want the OP to trawl through the net looking for refurbs to compare these to?

I’m not sure who died and made you the bargain police but you being obstructive will lead to obfuscating people.

                @flashi007:

                Yes he did.

Can't see it in the deal post…

            • +3

@jv: Do I get paid if I justify how it is a bargain to you?
And this is from Sony official refurbs, not from some random dudes selling used stuffs

              • @Danny N:

                Do I get paid

Don't know, but everyone needs to follow the posting rules.

              • @Danny N: He is trying to keep the conversation going so that he could hit his 100k comments by next year 😄
By the way @jv congrats on hitting 90k.

                  lol… are you keeping count?

                  • @jv: Simple tap on your ID and you are literally everywhere on this forum, yeah I figured.

                    • @Rilakkujay:

                      Simple tap on your ID

Why do you tap on people's IDs ?

                      • @jv: Simple, cos that's what ID is for

                        • @Rilakkujay: Silly me…

                          I'll tap away then…

Damn…I dont want it…but got the 1000xm3….so cheap!!! What shall I do with the airpods pro and jabra 75t now?

    • -1

      and jabra 75t

      75t has better reviews

  • Anyone else having trouble applying the code?

I bought a pair last time this deal ran.

Despite the initial squeamishness about 'refurb earwax holders', the foam tips were clearly new/sealed. The base units were also new.
Like if it was a cleaned return, I've got a house for them to clean level of clean…. or more likely clearly new/unused item.

Perhaps I got lucky. It works well (coming from a user of all the Jabra Elite non-active models).

I'd say the active noise cancellation is definitely better than the Jabra 85t's and miles better than the 75t's but the passive isolation was better on both the jabra's, maybe its an ear shape thing. Sound quality is about the same, maybe a tad better on the Sony's but bass was better on the Jabra 75t's in particular.

Love the automatic voice activated hearthrough feature when you start talking, then it fades back into a cocoon of silence. Google assistance is also well integrated.

The biggest win for me is that the 75t and 85t's would really hurt my ears after awhile of wearing it while the XM4's, I can wear them all day with no pain - its really quite liberating.

    Downsides:
XM4's dont do 2 simultaneous bluetooth connections though the reconnection to android/windows is pretty seamless so long as you can accept opening bluetooth and clicking the saved device (windows) or just adding a bluetooth widget on your andoird device i.e. I dont miss the Jabra's dual bluetooth functionality as much as I thought I would.

Bluetooth connection to android is very stable but i feel the Jabra's had a better bluetooth connection to my same Windows bluetooth enabled laptop.

For calls, the Jabra's are better, no question but only slightly and seems more prominent difference on windows bluetooth than android bluetooth.
For important calls though, I have a Steelseries that works well for me.

The Jabra's also had a slightly smaller case though the sony isnt bad and also had a wireless charging feature (I miss that).

The touch buttons work well but tbh, I preferred the clickable nature of the jabra's - more tactility.

And sometimes there is a bit of lag between left and right (like a very very small lag) but enough that it amkes voices robotic (only happens on Windows). Have to put the offending plug back in the case and pull it out which fixes it (presumably it forces a reconnection).

    Overall would buy again, 9/10.

XM4's dont do 2 simultaneous bluetooth connections.

If you mean that you can't go from having both ears to just the one without reconnecting, disabling Google Assistant on the app makes this possible.
It's ridiculous that GA somehow limits this functionality however I never use it anyway so it was a feature I was comfortable with disabling and now the switching from two to one to the other is absolutely seamless.

My only other complaint which is a tiny nitpick is I would like the option to cycle through noise cancelling by pressing the left earbud to include switching Automatic Wind Noise Reduction as the feature is fantastic when I am outdoors or cycling but an apparent battery drain in other situations. Switching in the app is pretty easy though so not major.

  • Tempted here but my 1000xm3 are still going strong…

    • +1

Yeah other than the fact that love to fall out of my ears when blinking.

I'm waiting for the Sony Linkbuds. Probably won't be as good in terms of sound quality, but they look like they are comfortable and won't fall out.

  • This or sennheiser momentum TW2 in terms of sound quality? If we don’t consider much of noise cancellation feature.

  • +6

Refurb for $250 not worth it, I'll still waiting for Bing Lee to ship

  • Anyone used these for running?

  • I used the WF-1000xm3s and the BT connection with windows for calls etc was terrible. Constant dropouts and the moment you skipped a youtube clip it would disconnect.

    • I've used the WF 1000 xm3s as well. XM4s are much much better for phone calls from android. For windows, still buggy but better.

  • very tempted to upgrade from my first gen momentum tws. these things barely last a little over 2 hours now and the noise cancellation is pretty weak.

  • +1

I have the XM3s and I have 2 issues with them.
    1. They fall off easily
    2. The mic is atrocious for zoom calls etc.

Did they bother fixing these in the XM4s?

    • do you have weird ears by any chance?
2nd point does not bother me i hardly use it for calls. first point bothers me tho

      • No not really. I have average sized ears and i think these are better suited for people with large ears.
They did work without problem when I used them with my phone.

      1. hasnt been a problem for me
      2. yeah still has issues, I think its how windows handles bluetooth audio but its definitely an improvement from the XM3 which was atrocious (sorry)

In saying that, my workaround is to just route zoom/teams audio to my phone. Side benefit is much more stable video due to splitting the streams and android calls on the xm4 are very good.

      • I have other headphones including the WH-1000Xm3 and it doesnt have any of these issues when used with windows BT. I dont think it is windows but more the WF-1000xm3 headphones.

  • hmm wondering if i should buy the Sony WF1000XM3B
i have the apple beats rn but i dont like to wear them in bed as they wrap around the back of the ear making it uncomfortable although they sound great. also my Samsung pods (left stopped working and haven't been able to make it work again for the past few days) it usually would reset it self and start working but ive tried everything and it has not worked yet.

  • I know these are great, especially if you want ANC, what if you want a good pair of wireless but don't care about ANC? Any suggestions?

    • Jabra Elite 75t is hard to pass up when its often going for $100 or so.
