If people haven’t checked out the IMAX enhanced versions of movies on Disney plus you totally should. They are now arguably the best copies to watch. It is a little bit annoying that sometimes you actually have to scroll down and select the version rather than it just being auto selected when pressing play.

    • +10

Is very sad that the best video version is only on streaming but the best audio version is only on physical.

      • +3

This is not by mistake, Disney is pushing Disney+

See the past marvel releases, no imax, the audio has been lackluster and they butchered the pirates of the Caribbean 4K releases

        • +3

What does the plus in LGBTQ+ stand for?
New LGBTQ but you keep all your loot, money and armour.

          • @lordra: See, I want to be angry at you but that was hilarious. Damnit.

            • @cmdwedge: I felt the same way. Have an upvote! 😊

      • +1

Best video version is 3D, but sadly it's only available from Japan and average cost is like $100 🥲 same thing happened with Black Widow, Japan only :(

        • Holy shit, they still selling 3D? Might have to hit up the ol' bay of pirates and break out the ancient 3D 55 incher from nearly a decade ago.

Is No Way Home coming in 3D? I'd give it a go

      • Well not techincally true, whilst the IMAX is great to have, the video bitrate on the 4K BluRay is significantly higher than the streaming version.

        • Are the 4k blu-ray even Dolby vision yet?

I found the imax version of eternals hard to watch, it would switch every scene between IMAX to Normal.

      • +1

I felt the way it was done for Batman TDK was priceless. We were entirely immersed in the scenes, they had their desired affect. And we didn’t notice until we read reviews later - and had to research when/how.
Every other IMAX switching movie… weird.

        Just my opinion/experience

      • Couldn't agree more, quite distracting

      • +1

But was that the image quality or because it wasn't a great movie?

      • +2

You didn't miss much. Such a garbage movie

      • Sorry not familiar with this - what's the difference between IMAX and normal?

        • +1

IMAX means it will fill the screen instead of having black bars on top and bottom, it isn't zooming in, there is way more picture on top and bottom, + the imax has much clearer image detail

        • Also interested to know…

        • Overly simplistic answer: standard 35mm film is approx 4k resolution. 70mm IMAX is approx 12k resolution. And full screen, as opposed to letterbox. When you’re sitting at the correct distance from screen, IMAX shots cover your whole view, completely immerse you in the content.

      • Same! It's the first movie where it has been really noticable

      • I found Eternals hard to watch… Felt like it didn't what type of movie it wanted to be.

    • +5

Not sure why you are getting neg'd. This felt like a 'B' grade movie. Yes, there were some funny bits but other than that there was nothing write home about.
I watched it on Disney+ trial so it didn't cost me anything other than my time, but would not have been happy if I paid to watch it.

    • I do somewhat agree; it obviously wasn't as highly produced as most other Marvel movies, you can tell with the CGI in the later parts of the movie. But it wasn't a bad movie by any means; I found it quite funny and entertaining and therefore enjoyed the movie, I'm sure many others did too (thus the relatively high ratings).

If you watch it as a non-Marvel movie, it's good. If you watch it as a Marvel movie, it's not as great.

Yup, it was a very ordinary movie, got a lot of hype because of the woke factor that Disney pushes into most of its content.

Btw IMAX enhanced is not only about video ratio etc it can also be about other video factors as well as there is an audio part of IMAX too..although I think Disney is only using the video part.

I wasn't a fan, didn't feel like a Marvel movie and the hyped up enemy was a disappointment. CGI also wasn't polished and my friend fell asleep half way through in the cinemas. I did like the movie up until the end of the building fight scene.

    • Eh, would disagree, had a good time watching, hardly atrocious, good inside Asian humour

  • I will wait for $10.99 like Black Widow…

Lord of the rings knock off

    • +1

…which is a knock off of Der Ring, which is a knock off of Old Norse and Germanic legends.

      • +9

Which is a knock off of the Abba song "Ring Ring, Why Don't You Give Me A Call"

        • +2

Which is a knock off of Home Alone.

          • +1

@ajdj10: Everything is a knock off of Home Alone. Damn it, I miss John Hughes.

  • +12

You could go wrong… this was a very sh1t movie… don't waste your time

    • +8

      Agreed. Terrible movie

    • +7

Yes, save that money for lunch. Crap movie.

    • +6

It had its issues but I wouldn't call it shit.

I enjoyed it. Each to their own.

    • I already have a free digital copy so I don't care for buying a physical edition as I most likely won't be watching it again.

  • +5

Rather have $13.74 worth of chips

    • Actually I thought it was a slice of pizza at first.

  • cheap as chips - well depends on which which chips you are referring to. Certainly not the GPU ones lol.

  • -1

A money-grabber failed completely. It didn't even get into its target market.

  • +1

    cheap as chips

  • +2

Almost as if tastes are subjective. I enjoyed this movie, and I am Asian.

    • +2

The CGI was terrible in places. At times it looked like real time 3d from a video game.

The quality reminded me of the terrible CGI in Midway - those scenes of the pearl harbour attack looked like call of duty cutscenes.

  • +1

They could give me this movie for free but they'll have to pay me to watch it! ☺️

  • +1

There’s a lot of + votes for a movie that many people above hates.

    • Because there's some people who did enjoy the movie and gave those + votes; bad CGI and all. Found it unpolished in some areas, though enjoyable in others.

  • Despite a number of glaring flaws, I thought this movie was entertaining enough and represented pretty good value - a "superhero" and kaiju movie rolled into one with a healthy dose of martial arts and Jackie Chan-esque action (super nostalgic for me). Originally wasn't really interested in getting a copy but I got one anyway out of respect for Brad Allen's contributions to the world of movie stunts as this is one of the last movies he was involved in.

  • Showing as $19.24 for me

  • Dang after so long amazon cancelled my order today citing no stock

    • Yes mine too :(

    • Me too
