$197.10 on Good Guys eBay C&C with code AFPY10

  • According to Camelcamelcamel this is the cheapest it has been for awhile.

  • +1

    Thats a fancy ass microwave

    • +4

I have the bigger one, can't say there is anything special about it on day to day usage. Feels cheaper than it looks

      • +1

have had one for many years now. Cannot say we don’t like it. But it’s very loud compared to orher ovens

        • But it’s very loud compared

Dang that’s a disappointing to hear.

Been thinking of upgrading mine. But the cheapo target microwave I got as a gift from a friend 5-6 years ago is still going strong 😅

  • +2

There's literally a "A bit more" button. Why didn't anyone think of that?

    • +1

They thought of it first 10+ years ago for their motorised toaster and trademarked it

    • Breville has this on their big fill toastie makers too.

      • +5

Big Fill toasties? What is this new devilry?

More stuffing, but same size bread? Inquiring minds want to know.

Are we tearing the very fabric of of the glutenous bonds that bind matter, or is it cupping the slice into a dome and crimping around a slightly smaller perimeter?

        • +1

Same size bread, deeper plates so you can fit more in your toastie. The revolution has begun.

          • +1

@Bonsaichop: I knew I hadn't seen everything, but nothing to this point had prepared me for this.

What a time to be alive. What a truly epic revelation befitting a Friday night. I will need the weekend to recover.

Thank you friend. I am indebted to you.

    • +3

I can't tell if your kidding, but literally every microwave I have used in the last 20 years and pretty sure even my mum's old one from over 30 years ago allowed pressing either the +30 or start button (depending on model) while it's running to add 30seconds.

      • Yes but they didn't have "A Bit More" as their names did they.
In case it wasn't obvious, I was poking light-hearted fun at the button name, not its function.

  • As much as I like my cold left-over pizza, this does a great job of reheating pizza. Sometimes I think it comes out better than it originally tastes.

    • +3

i think that might be to do with leftover pizza, rather than the microwave.

    • +2

You must get dominoes, there isn't much that won't make that shit taste better.

  • We’ve got the bigger one and have been happy with it. Amazingly the simple dial that you turn to start and set the time is a rarity. Good design.

    • Good point, I forgot this was one of the reasons that sold me on it. That and matching the Barista Express

  • It doesn’t look as pleasant as my LG but might be swayed if it plays decent tones when it’s finished? Anybody know or does it just horrifically beep?

    • +1

beep. and it's a pretty loud machine in operation.

      • Thank you, yeah it looks tacky too. Miss for me.

  • +1

25litres seems pretty small for a microwave. I'm tempted but need to see it in the flesh I think. Does anyone own one and can give an idea of internal size?

    • +16

      About 25 liters

      • +1

;p probably should have said dimensions lol

        • If the dimensions shrink by an even ratio we can use the volume of rectangle and shrink the microwave evenly until it's 25l.

          Hence: 21 cm (H) * 31 cm (D) * 36 cm (W)

Confirming this is correct we can measure the dimensions in the photo, compare this to the real dimensions and then measure the inner dimensions on a photo*ratio of change getting:

          22 cm (H) 31 cm (D) and 37 cm (W).

So, I'd say my first calculation is correct.

  • perfect! thank you ! been waiting for this one to go on sale ! time to upgrade my 12 year old microwave

  • +2

I need a deal on the combi wave one!!

  • I bought one of the two some 20mins ago

  • +2

Just letting you know, I bought one second hand, apparently only 2 years old. But the touch pad stopped working. I called them up, but they only have 1 year warranty! They did provide me a 40% off coupon for one off if anyone wants that for another Breville Microwave.

    • +2

ACL should apply. Any reasonable person would expect a microwave to last more than a year especially one with this RRP

      • +1

Yeah but he isn’t the original purchaser

        • +1

Yeah that's why I didn't pursue it further. Just annoying that the machine works fine, the touch pad would be a simplish fix I thought.

    • Hi Tree, I'd be keen to take you up on that offer! :D

      • Sorry all, I just realised I deleted it since I was so annoyed with Breville. :(

  • +1

Whats so special about this microwave lol

    • +3

      It's on special

  • So is this ‘smart’ in the sense that it can actually measure when the food is properly heated, or does it just have some pre programmed guesses on how long it will take for certain foods will be heated?

    • none are smart in that they know the weight of the food and measure moisture and adjust based on that combination …..with breville smart just means easy to use settings …. note though that you need to use the crisper tray to get the food to closer the elements….. possibly also heats the tray like those bacon crispers for microwave….. smart functions e.g herb dryer setting …… seems you can set weight but that just guesstimates anyway as shape of food makes a difference …..
i have a pizza make and my breville toaster has slots wide enough to crisp a microwaved pie ……

Bought one, page 13, last warning, ‘microwave must not be placed in a cabinet’. Exactly my intention. 1980 was a long time ago when you had to have an ugly microwave on your benchtop. Back it goes

    • Technically you should not as the magnetron requires cooling and the fans are at the back for most microwaves.

      • +1

We had our Smeg one in the cupboard for 11 years. But it didn’t have a grill option, so I suppose this is why it needs clearance. But still, who wants a microwave on your bench?

        • +3

Who wants a microwave will a grill option?

          • @Bytelover: maybe people with limited space in kitchen or don’t have an oven …. i know first reaction is that an oven takes a long time to heat up ….. an oven does but the grill in the oven doesn’t and this isn’t a convection oven microwave ….. it’s a microwave with a grill element so doesn’t replace a normal air oven …. at this price think of the grill element as a bonus not a key function as the element is only on the top, not on the bottom also ……it’s a microwave so make sure it has the size and functions you want in a microwave first ….. i can crisp a pie or pizza slice in my oven grill, in my sandwich press (height adjustable) or a small convection oven,

        • +1

That could be one reason. And if you use your microwave for few minutes its fine, but if you use it for quite longer for cooking and if the enclosed space is quite small, then its not good. A microwave depending on brand and model consumes 1200 to 1300 watts to produce 800 to 900 watts of microwaves, the rest is converted to heat. The fan absorbs the air at the back and puts it out on the sides/top depending on the model. If the enclosed space is very small, the same exhausted hot air is again used by the intake fan causing more heat. So there will always be dumb people who will keep it in the oven sized enclosure with very less space for air to circulate. Thats what the warning in the manual is about. If its more than a couple inches all around, it should be good i guess.

          • @John Doh: Yeah we had a built in microwave for years (was really just a cutout box for microwave) but the area behind it was open and vented up through the back of the above cabinets, that was built 20 years ago and I'm pretty sure they will build them the same way at least professional kitchen builders do. I agree that I think the warning doesn't mean it can only be used on a benchtop more they are covering Lllegal requirements so people understand it needs room to breath/vent.

            • @Clarky77: Correct. And people do the same stupid thing with refrigerators. Refrigerators need space to vent out heat but there isn’t any in many cases. It just works too hard and consumes more power but most people don’t realise it.

    • Exactly why I came here to say I am selling mine :)

    • I think cabinet means not to have it enclosed. As long as you have enough space each side and above it should be fine?

      • The rear surface of the appliance should be placed against a wall. A minimum clearance of 10cm is required between the microwave
        and any adjacent walls.
      • Leave a minimum clearance 20cm above the microwave.

      Pg 13 of User Manual

      • You are right. Just need the Min clearance as specified and it should be fine inside and open shelf. I just bought one and it does get hot so you will need that clearance, but so far definitely worth it as the grill and cook function is so good.

  • +2

This is $185 at Good Guys commercial if you can access it.

    • +2

Thanks for the tip. Picked one up

  • +1

Breville don't heat evenly, get an LG.

  • +1

I bought the westinghouse 40L black model: wmf4102ba.
$171 from good guys commercial. I've been using it for about 3 months now and love it. Cooks evenly and the build quality is excellent. I highly recommend the westinghouse mee-kro-waveé.

Before this I bought the Samsung 40L. Most stupidest Microwave I've ever owned. Blacked out door so you can't see shit while it cooking. Sold it straight away.

    • +1

Lol. Have been persevering with that bloody Samsung 5 years now. Want a new one but it won’t die haha

      • Dude, do your self a favour a get rid of the Samsung and get the westinghouse 40L. 5 years with a blacked out door, I think it's time for an upgrade. Lol

  • Waiting for the soft close to be at this price!

  • I've had this microwave for yeara. Works and functions fine. While microwaving you can turn the dial to increase or decrease the countdown timer.
Don't ask why but sometimes I like to change my mind about how much time I want to add or deduct from the timer while heating

  • Shame it's not a little bigger, 25l is a bit restrictive…
Yeah I know before anyone else pipes up, that's what she said!!

  • Damn, I just bought the LG Neochef 25L two weeks ago and at a dearer price. Is this one better since it has "grill" function?

    • -1

      No.

  • I bought one and didn't realise it can't fit in the space I have for it. Officially, it shouldn't go in a cabinet.

I have heated pizza, and 2x batches of popcorn, but i can see that I do not want this on the bench… so I'm selling it. If someone wants an even further discount on a literally 1 day old, barely used one of these, get in touch :D

    • where are you based?
