1 Cent Personalised Christmas Book for Your Kid. $4.95 shipping. 3 days only.

61

A book where you kist your kids name and birthday detaisl, and name of 3 friends, and they print the names into the story, and your kid thinks they're the bee's knees. Of course, since your kid probably thinks the world revolves around them already (as mine does), this may just reinforce that fact! Good for the Christmas stocking I reckon! Good for a total of $4.96

  • They stole $4.95 out of my visa without my authorization from this same deal. Personally, I'll stay clear from them.

    • dang - I'd better check my statement too… You should be able to do a charge back via your bank for that.

    • how did they steal $4.95 that you hadn't authorise. had you given them your credit card for one transaction, but they did 2 transactions, or did they over charge? And if they did 2, did they do them close together, or far apart? Thanks!

      • They overcharged. I only authorized $0.01 transaction after applying the free shipping code and I got a confirmed receipt via email that the total was $0.01. My partner bought one for the Birthday Adventure title using her credit card and a different address, and she too got charged $4.96 instead of the $0.01 confirmed in the email receipt.

Seeing that they have also overcharged one other member, I think this is not an isolated issue and they have been charging quite a few people more than what they should.

  • Sorry, personally I WILL STAY AWAY from them

i had so bad experience with them
    First, they took 1c.
    Then they took 4.96

when i spoke to them, they told me, well, we can't offer you 2 CODES on same time (1 for 1c book, 1 for free shipping), although confirmation say it is 1c.
    however, dodgy points:
    1. The email is only a confirmation, NOT an invoice (so they can charge you whatever they like)
    2. Yes, you may return it, if you don't like it, or you request for refund of $4.95. However, what's the point of returning it if your postage is $5 or more ? (it's better you keep the book, rather than hassling them)

that's why i can recommend: STAY AWAY unless if you want to pay more than 1c.

  • This deal is not for free shipping. It is for a .01 book, but you do haev to pay $4.95 shipping. So you can expect the total to be $4.96. I thought it was a good deal….

  • We got the last one too, the 1c + shipping. I also thought it was a good deal - didn't try to get the free shipping on it too though. I mean, fair go, $4.96 for a personalised book isn't bad. They do obviously need to fix up their invoicing/confirmation system though.

OHH and I'm pretty sure this is the book my sister and I had as kids, so have got a copy for my nephew, think sis will enjoy it too :)

  • I just checked with my credit card company and they only charged 1c for the books I ordered. One book (the first one I did before I saw the free shipping code on here) got billed $4.96 and Identity Direct said I can send it back for a full refund within 30 days. However seeing I got 4 other books at just 1c I will forgo the trouble of sending the book back! I would recommend anyone who has been billed for an amount not stated on the invoice to contact the company via email (reply to the email sent with the invoice) and they are very polite about things in their replies! I don't recommend phoning as you get passed around and no one takes the responsibility to resolve the problem!

  • My bad…. (re: what I wrote above)……got my CC bill and am billed 1c and $4.96 per book. I find this a VERY bad deal purely based on the fact that an invoice is NOT considered an invoice by them and also they can bill you later on for postage or whatever they feel like. I think that makes you really not want anyone to have your CC details. What security do you have with a business just adding on 2 days after the invoice is emailed any charge they feel appropriate. If a code works then it works and it cannot be negated after a week by them. Either they should update their website to not allow codes or be straight forward with charges! Not happy with this business and won't buy from them again!

    • I just checked my statement, and they only charged me 1c (no shipping charge). Thank goodness coz I'd be peeved like you. Were the amounts billed at separate times? Or do you have 1c charge and then another later for $4.96? (want to know if I should be keeping eye out on next month's statement)

At the end of the day, you only authorised 1c to be deducted from your account, so you should be able to get your bank to charge back the excess funds. No need to return the book for refund.

Weird how this has only happened to some people…
