Do The EGO Lawn Mowers Go on Sale? Are The Newer Models Coming out?

Hey guys,

Recently moved into a place that has buffalo grass or something like that, its really tough grass and i borrowed my mates cheap electric mower and it was just impossible to cut.

Wanting to get a high end mower that can mow it with ease.

Keep getting recommended the EGO range. Do these go on sale often?

Will the newer models hit Aus soon meaning the older ones can start to get discounted?

Ideally wanting to pick one up in the next week or so when/if the rain eventually stops.

My current grass is over a foot long in just 2 weeks because of all this rain.

My front and backyards aren't big, but I need something that can do both with one charge. Don't want to be waiting for things to charge.

Thanks :)

P.S will also need blower and edge trimmer

  • I've never seen them go on sale, (not to say that they don't) however, they sometimes have deals where they include a leaf blower or a kit with the mower or a chance to upgrade to a bigger battery size cheaper than RRP.

Foot long grass isn't really what battery-powered mowers for designed for.

    • yeh i know its just this time because sydney has been bombarded with rain the last 10 days non stop.

normally i'd be doing it every 2 weeks.

    • Yet they will do it, just slower. I should've done my lawn last week but it's been impossible to do with this rain. By the time the rain stops and it dries out a bit (right now you sink into the ground just walking on it) it'll be at least 4 weeks between cuts and will easily be a foot long or more and I know my 18v will do it without issue, I'll just use a bit more charge than for a normal cut.

Anyway, EGO isn't exclusive to any particular retailer so they should go on sale, or more likely offer extras via redemption, at some point.

OP, ask your mate when the last time he sharpened the blades. The answer will likely be never. For really long grass pop a wheel and push the more through blade first rather than pushing the grass flat with the front of the mower.

      • Pop a wheel?

Press down on the push handle to raise the front axle. Gives more clearance to cut longer grass.

            @Muzeeb: Maybe "pop a wheelie"?

            • @pjetson: Yeah, wheelie. Typo or I was distracted.

          • @Muzeeb: I tilt mine to the right. If I push the back down the catcher hits the floor and gets knocked off.

I've never seen them on special but I have seen free battery offers by redemption.

    • have u used ego mowers before? any thoughts?

      • +1

        Nope. I have a 23hp ride on with a 120cm cut.

30cm grass is no match for this baby.

I could probably mow your lawn in 2 minutes 😉

      • used ego mowers before?

I have an EGO self propelled lawn mower.

        Great mowers, good battery life.

Aftersales service for any warranty claims is of a high level.

  • As mentioned above there are kit with bonus blower or battery.
Also the shops selling them give bonus credit sometimes, like this one.

  • They never get discounted, the margins are far too small for dealers to discount. They do extra item promos frequently, and there is one that is current with LMLB2135E-SP

See this deal for mower with blower included - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/661249
It is not expired, all the listed dealers still offer it.

I have the 47cm self propel unit (sits below the one in this deal), to use where my ride on can't or shouldn't access and it's great.

  • I got the mower, blower and battery pack for $800 from total tools. Total Tools had a sale on Australia Day where you got points so you end up with 20% of the cost to spend on something else. Not sure how often these sales come up

    • that would be so good, because i'd get the $1149 deal that comes with the blower and then spend the 20% on the edge trimmer!

Just dont waste your money on the Ryobi- I have the tiniest piece of grass to mow, and this thing cuts out every time I hit the grass because its "too thick" - It takes me 2 days to mow the lawn (once at a high setting and once again at a lower setting) coz the battery drains so quick because it is gutless and cant handle the grass. And after 2 days of mowing, I have to mow it again the next weekend to keep it low so I dont have to take 3 days to mow.

One of those YMMV things, I guess.

I bought a Ryobi R36XLMW16 on Saturday to deal with our thick buffalo grass lawns which hadn't been mowed for almost 8 weeks (rental property). I was very happy with the performance of the unit and the battery level barely moved despite getting through five catcher loads worth of wet grass.

    • Yet I manage to do an old size Sydney residential block with ~250m2 of lawn with one no issue. Only time it bogs down is when the battery is flat and about to cut out anyway.

  • When a new model comes out a blower gets included to clear old stock out.
I bought SP Mower/Blower combo $1149, During TT 20% Cashback, Also EGO ran a 5AH Battery redemption for $1200 so bought a spare blade.

With the $250 GC bought the Line trimmer kit with upgraded 5.0ah for $299 (Special at the time)

Sold the extras (which took awhile) 2x 5.0ah battery $600, $100 Rapid Charger

  • Total tools did 20% cashback as credit over Australia day.
That's how I picked up my blower and whipper snipper cheap.
    They're beasts.

  • Any new model mowers coming out ?
I have an old Bosch battery mower , and ryobi blowers
Thinking to upgrade to EGO mower and blower

  • Sydney tools, total tools, and trade tools sometimes do 20% point sale, like today, apart from that, they rarely go on sale been waiting but gave up recently and just did it on a 20% point sale
