[QLD] Free Public Transport in South-East Queensland for Flood-Affected Communities

670

The QLD Government have announced there'll be free travel on all Translink and qconnect services within SEQ from midnight tonight (12.01am 3/3/22) until the last service on Sunday 6/3/22.

Glad they matched the toll road subsidy, 100% the right thing to do. Be aware that there are still large service disruptions, check Translink's website for which routes and lines are operational.

If you're able, I'd also suggest taking advantage of this to head out and volunteer in the clean-up and reduce congestion while so many roads are blocked.

"Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said TransLink and qconnect services across all impacted Local Government areas would be free until last service Sunday."
"'This covers services from Coolangatta all the way up to the Fraser Coast and across to Toowoomba, because just about every community in between has been impacted in some way', Mr Bailey said."

Lol still no actual transport running for half of Brisbane but maybe by Sunday 😊

Yep, mentioned it in the post - routes and lines are slowly coming back online, there's about 40 bus routes that are back already. Main issue for buses is Cultural Centre station is still flooded, for trains it's actual track damage but it looks like half the lines are restarting tomorrow (albeit at a reduced timetable).

Are there any options that include a boat?

Be nice if there was any public transport to, you know, actually catch in Brisbane atm, lel.

  • Does it include trains? No mention of Q.R.

    • Last time I checked trains were part of the public transport system…

      • Only if they're operating…
They weren't on 2/3 when I wanted to use.
All Trains were suspended in SE Qld since last week, due to track & other damage.
        Now on reduced services (4/3).

  • What is the toll road subsidy? And does it mean free tolls too?

    • Toll fees waived until sunday i think

Both the GoBetween Bridge and the Clem7 tunnel closed yesterday causing massive traffic on riverside expressway. Nice that they were "free" though.

  • Yeah, wondering how trains will be running tonight when I go to work…
Can't be bothered watching the news, besides getting washed away in flood waters, being broke and watching the start of WW3 it's just too depressing. Only saving grace is I'm not needing a floaty to get to my car just yet, though I'm looking for a good deal on an emergency paddle for my car… Ay suggestions?

      Don’t forget the global pandemic!

  • Is airport line included?

    • +1

      Airtrain, yes

  • Travel on BCC buses was free when I used several on 2/3. Trains weren't operating.

Waited for bus that was operating on 3/3. Shown in service updates & arrival time in Translink app. Waited but didn't arrive. App updated to wait another 30min.
