Citizen Promaster CB5034-82L $399 Delivered @ Starbuy

130

Part of Starbuy's weekends deal which appears to sell elsewhere for $550-$600+ (citizen RRP $999 lol). Not going to be for everyone (44.6mm beastly case diameter, too busy of a dial?, claim of 200m water resist but no screw down crown) - but going through the rest of the spec sheet (eg. sapphire crystal, eco-drive aka no hassle for battery changes) feels like it warrants to be shared here for the price.

NOTE: the radio-controlled atomic time function may not work for everyone but workarounds have been posted before.

Comments from an article at Twenty-TwoTen seems to provide confirmation that it to works at Perth and Brisbane northside. If atomic time works at your area within AUS for these watches, feel free to share here :)

Specs from the Citizen website:

This watch is part of Promaster Land collection. Features a radio-controlled time-keeping function to capture a time signal in four areas around the world and automatically adjust the time. Fitted with a 1/1 second chronograph that can measure up to 60 minutes, an aviator slide rule and a world time function for instant switching to the time of 24 cities, this is a pilot’s watch with multi-functions and a high level of practical utility. Jesus, someone at Citizen needs to put the fonts down and back away from the dial

yeah but someone at citizen also decided it should be wr200 and sapphire glass ….hopefully different people ….

      • It's a polarizing piece for sure but I think it's the aviator style that influenced the font size and the busy-ness of the dial? I'm not knowledgeable with aviator watches myself and happy to be corrected if the font size has nothing to do with that xD I personally think it's great value with all the features it offers and will post an update here if the atomic function of the watch is going to work without the need of the workarounds around my area :3

I hope you enjoy it. Never owned one but growing up I thought this watch looked the coolest, and I loved that it had an alarm but wasn’t a digital watch.

Would have bought it, but 44/45mm is hard to gauge if its too big without trying it on first.

        • Update: so not much of a surprise that there's no radio reception in my area but I was able to work around using the jjyemulator app for Android, enabling airplane mode and pointing the phone speaker at the 4'oclock position of the watch.

The watch feels like it wears smaller than the spec suggests but to each their own. Here's some pics on my 6.5in wrist - https://imgur.com/a/iTRfrJr

  • My fave and most expensive watch is a black titanium Satellite Wave which I love. I really like the look of this too (which is similar) but the radio thing sounds like a PITA.
