        lol nice ancient reference!

    • Sorry, fixed the typo

    • Not on the website

My receipt but got some others from Wallsend as well same price

          That's not nationwide though.

Its because they are clearance stock (hence the discount is different in each store)

And generally bunnings wont price match another bunnings store. (at least my local one will not price match giving such excuses to me)

        • It's nation wide clearance on those products as others that have posted are in different states

        • +2

Can confirm this is a national clearance.

          • @Applause: Not nation wide as stores in SA are still showing the Lily extensions at $129

            • @YellowKnight: True. Lily extension is $129. Lily base is $50. Possible mix up between the 2.

        • Ha, I got the Calla's for $25 and then got that price matched at another Bunnings…

    • Could anyone share receipt for Lilly base please?

  • Good time to buy and join the ecosystem or will they release something new soon

    • There's already new versions of the bulbs. They've been out OS for a while and finally coming here hence clearing old stock.

      • They're keeping the bridge the same atleast from my super quick google? so worth the cheaper kit?
Edit never mind, my local only has E27 kit discounted but B22’s that I need

  • IMO the white ambiance is still a decent deal at $50, considering its 2 bulbs +1 hue bridge.

Color one is a bit expensive at $150 (given it's older gen, aka no bluetooth support, but on flip side, it does have the hue bridge in it as well)

Bunnings Brendale also had the same deal last week. Also picked up the last 3 Calla extensions for $50 each last Tuesday.

Didn't post here, because wife went into labour shortly after. 😅

      Priorities mate 😉

    • The savings really made an impression

  • They have around 800 lumens while Lifx ones have 1000+ lumens

Don't let that deter you. ZigBee is superior to wifi in every way. I ditched all my Lifx lights for HUE and have never looked back. And, I rarely run the HUEs at 100% brightness, they are plenty bright enough.

      • Superior in every way?

The brighter LIFX definitely does make a difference.

I’d say more beneficial than going low brightness for the sake of zigbee. I mean sure zigbee has benefits but does it really make it that much better?

Surely the average person won’t notice a difference whether it’s zigbee or Wi-Fi?

        • Depends on where the lights are. The average person won’t notice the difference between 800lm or 1000lm in smaller rooms like bedrooms, bathrooms, laundries, etc. I bought the new 1600lm hue bulbs from Amazon UK a few months ago for larger rooms and they do the job in larger rooms like the lounge, kitchen and garage. I don’t think they are available in Australia yet (I gave up waiting). I found the lifx globes to be good as well, but wifi connectivity is more patchy than zigbee and you sure do notice when they don’t work! I have picked up most of my hues at a lower cost than lifx on Black Friday/Amazon Prime Day sales.

            @pierrejb:

            The average person won’t notice

You won't notice full stop. Eyes cannot measure brightness levels since they adjust the amount of light entering automatically and the lighting sector is completely rife with overstated brightness levels and lifetimes.

@Diji1: What you say is technically correct but a 1600lm bulb throws light further than a 800lm bulb. I can’t read fine print or see a splinter in my finger with an 800lm bulb unless I am directly below it, but I definitely can do these things a few metres away from a 1600lm bulb. I can’t tell much (if any) difference between 800lm and 1000lm though … The reality is if you have a larger room you’ll need at higher lumen bulb (or several lower lumen bulbs) to light the room but my point was that the difference between the current 800lm hue and 1000lm lifx bulbs on the market is not noticeable.

            • @Diji1: I’m pretty sure we can notice when one light is brighter than another.

        • I have had LIFX for a couple of years now, they certainly get much brighter than my needs for bedroom size rooms, I never turn them up even past half way, overkill.

I can certainly see the advantage of extra lumens when you want to throw light further in larger rooms.

The largest difference between the LIFX and HUE in my opinion, is the colours. The range of colours the LIFX has is far superior in range of hues, accuracy, saturation and brightness. The HUE, most noticeably, has some terrible brightness on certain hues and has less dynamic range, saturation etc, pretty ironic given their product name.

Wifi connection I have never had a problem with. I have them connected to Home Assistant. Once in a blue moon I can see a connection drop for a few seconds (probably fault of my router), this has never impacted my use.

LIFX are worth it if you want an outstanding range colours that pop. Bonus that you don't have to buy a hub or anything. But IG YMMV depending on how dodgy your routers wifi is…

        • I have a mix of both. No one in the family notice the difference apart from technical differences between the light.

Another Hue convert here. Have been totally reliable compared to my previous mix of LIFX and other WiFi bulbs, and don’t clutter up the network.

    • But wifi is unreliable compared to ZigBee

      • That depends on your walls and the router. Some routers you can have two different wifi's one dedicated for the lights.

        • ZigBee uses other ZigBee devices as repeaters

    • Lumens isn't everything, need to sell the lifx ones I have lying around because I got sick of brown outs triggering them to turn on 100% brightness in the middle of the night. Switched completely over to hue just for the capability of saving last known state… Got sick of trying to put kids back to sleep once they were woken up.

      • Interesting never heard about that issue.

  • Never mind the globes, wth was "discounted" to $1515 in that aisle above???

  • Bugger. The $50 kit was Edison screw only. Bayonet were still full price. Tried 3 bunnings

    • Weird. The stores I visited only have the bayonet kits on sale.

      • The 3 I tried were
        Springvale
        Notting Hill
        Dandenong South

  • Anyone, please share receipt for Lilly base?

  • Been in the hue ecosystem for a few months (originally just bought a the bridge from EB sale), gotta say it tickles the ozb bone in me when I can incorporate ikea trafri light setups and gledopto LED controllers all via zigbee and not run into any real issues
