It had handles so it was easy to grip; it had a shovel shape at each end so it could be used to remove debris from around tyres and under vehicles; and it was light.

  • Anything that makes these better than the $119 XTM from BCF and SCA, or the $99 Dune ones from Anaconda?

    • +8

the black colour will better match the Winch that you'll also never need in the woolies car park.

      • pmsl.

The Dune ones are also Blackkkk. Seems stupid though - you want bright colours (e.g. Maxtrax orange) so you can find them easier after a mud recovery

        • good point and good sport for not taking it personally!

        • The dune ones also come in a bright blue. Grabbed some the other day at $99, though it might have been better to wait for these.

These are about 10cm longer and getting 4 for only $25 more would have been handy

      • I have a steel roofrack

      • Just make sure you mount them to the exterior of your vehicle so everyone can see them and gaze in awe at your 4wdishness.

    • +1

      These are $62.45 per pair

    • They are cheaper and way more durable than the XTM. I have owned both. During one recovery using my old XTM and a mate's X-BULL, mine were completely destroyed and his hardly showed any wear.

Can't imagine why someone would spend so much on injection moulded plastic. So… https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=Recovery+Tracks+Boards&crid=1S…

    • +2

Where are there 2 pairs for less than $124.90?

    • The price for these recovery boards is for TWO pairs i.e. 4 recovery boards altogether. Most of those linked at the Amazon page are for ONE pair. Any on that page that are two pairs list for $169 - $198. The cheapest price for two pairs on the Amazon link would set one back $130 (2 x $65)

So this is a reasonable deal.

  • I might get a set of these to help my mother-in-law get from the dining room to the lounge next Christmas Day

Buy a set of these and cut then in half. https://www.amazon.com.au/JOJOMARK-Traction-Portable-Emergen…

I don't disagree this is reasonable in a market context. But in terms of materials, production, marketing and other costs, then still a deplorable markup on $5 worth of plastic. Perhaps compare the DIY milk crate version.

Reasonable deal? Mabye. Bargain? I'm not convinced. But you do you.

    • Those are 39 inches long (approx 1m) where the plastic ones in the OP are 910mm long - cutting the rubber ones in half is not really a fair equivalent.

      • Very observant. Not equivalent at all. Neither is a milk crate. $18 on ebay. Spend the rest on an imagination. You're welcome.

        • +1

Milk crates + cable ties probably work as well, but they are more cumbersome to store and carry.

Various cheap (plastic options) can be found on Ebay though eg: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124795450472 110x34 @ $57 / pair.

  • What’s the difference between gen 1 and 2? Other than $40odd dollars when they go cheap

  • I just use shade cloth. Has many uses camping and works a treat in all conditions
Hat tip to Malcom Douglas for showing me this

    • Thanks for the reminder. No orange plastic on your roof to remind the muppets what a cultured individual you are? MD = Legend of practicality.

      • That's what the light bar, spot lights, high lift jack and shovel are for.

    • +1

If a bit of shade cloth can replace a set of recovery board then you are not 4wding.

      • I doubt you have done the Canning in both directions or the Strzelecki track nor torn tires off a split rim.

        • Yes and yes, not that challenging. Try doing places like Coffs, Lithgow, Ellis Track, Monkey Gum etc where unless you are twin locked on 35's you dont stand a chance especially with a bit of water on the ground. There's a reason you dont see guys on the tough tracks with a spool of shade cloth strapped to the rack lol.

  • Seems like a deal IF their any good.

Would have probably jumped on this deal if I didn't already have two pair of random brands already.

    • Its not a deal at $124.90.

    • -1

Its not even a deal at $24.90

    • They are very good tracks, i highly rate them.

  • +1

perfect for if there is a puddle in the school car park and I'm worried my Prado will get bogged

  • +2
    • Enjoyed that!
