Hardwire Navman Mivue Speedocam Dual Dash Cam

So just bought the Navman Mivue Speedocam Dual Dash Cam from JBHIFI after the coupon sale. Just curious if anyone has had problems with using the Smartbox kit from JBHIFI (even though this particular model isn't listed as compatible)
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/navman-mivue-smartbox-3?q…

I later on found out there are different smartboxes….but they don't exactly look different, so was curious if I had to buy from Navman's website (https://www.navman.com.au/mivue-smartbox-1)
am aware that the one that is compatible is a 'smartbox 1' and the one at jb is a 'smartbox 3'

And has anyone had any success using a cheaper generic hardwiring kit on Navman dashcams to get the parking mode feature to work?

thanks

  • The main difference I've found between hardware kits is the connector to the camera. Even if they're the same connector, you can't be certain they're wired correctly for that camera, ie which pin is constant and which is accessory, unless you can find a wiring diagram for both the camera and the kit.

    • i see thanks. maybe just better off paying $30 extra for a navman wiring kit

  • Commenting on this old thread because it's what turns up when you google this question

You can use any hardwire kit to get the speedocam parking mode to work, after it's turned on in the settings and it has constant power it goes into parking mode after 5 minutes of not moving.

I wired mine up to a USB port that's connected to my second battery but as long as you have a way to stop it from draining your whole battery it will work fine
