  • You bet in claiming the difference on price protection!

    • What cards still have this feature?

  • I think I saw Richard posted it in his description already, but it’s still $5 cheaper than his last post haha

  • +8

one of the best games ever made.

    • +4

I dunno…I couldn't really get into it - the weapons always break? Is that a thing throughout the whole game…?

I am thinking I might give it another shot - i really loved Majoras Mask and Ocarina of time..

      • +6

This annoyed me at first, too. But you get better weapons as you go and after upgrading inventory slots, you can carry plenty.
It took me a bit to get I to it, then get addicted almost.
There's so much to do, explore and experience, definitely worth another go.

      • +1

I had the opposite problem of having too many weapons and not enough slots to keep them in.

        • Use the Koro seed glitch hack to get more slots.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: this kinda stuff ruined game for me, i was done absoloutely everything other than dlc and koroks and was lovin just (profanity) around, then i decided to bug the game and i duped the best bows best swords and 20 hylian shields + some best sliding shield with max dura somehow and then i quit

            rip

game was mega fun tho, shoulda bought dlc when it was like $20 and stopped being a stingy (profanity)

      • It's great and adds an extra layer of complexity, you have to think about using the right weapon for the enemy you have and keep the strong weapons for strong enemies.

      • yes if frustrated me at the start… best to just do the missions that beeline you to getting the legendary sword, your frustration will die down once you have that in your kit.

  • JB would price match this, wouldn't they?

    • +5

From my experience, they're iffy with matching with Amazon. But it depends on the sales person.

      • Which is dumb. Their price match policy say they will price match online retailers if you factor in shipping. Usually bringing up their own policy when in store convinces them of matching.

      • I agree. JB price matched me sooo begrudgingly, felt like I had just asked something really inconsiderate when I was just asking for a service that they've stated they provide.

  • Can someone who has purchased this recently (say, last 6 months) please confirm if the game card suffix you received ends in EUR, EUR1, AUS or AUS1 and where you purchased it? Thanks in advance.

    • +1

AUS if it has the M rating on the cover for Zelda BOTW.

However not all Australian Rated Switch games on the cover had AUS on the cartridge.

      Some have EUR.

You can also check on eBay for used games for sale where you can see the cartridges for reference to give you an idea too.

      • +1

AUS if it has the M rating on the cover for Zelda BOTW.

Interesting. I thought that Nintendo AU/NZ stopped distributing AUS variant cards, just sticking an EUR inside an OFLC-rated game case.

However not all Australian Rated Switch games on the cover had AUS on the cartridge

Yeah, things changed in late 2018/early 2019 and AUS cards disappeared almost overnight (I'm one of the editors who manages this list and I'm trying to track down a number of AUS releases for collectors overseas.

You can also check on eBay for used games for sale where you can see the cartridges for reference to give you an idea too.

eBay won't tell me what's available in retail stores or online retailers as new stock today.

        • Whoa thats a cool list.

Only thing I can suggest and befriend someone at EB Games or JB Hifi and see if they can check for you on certain games?

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Yeah - I've recently moved cities and need to rebuild some retail store relationships up here :-)

            • @[Deactivated]: I was skimming through your list (which is impressive) .

How long have you spent compiling it?

              • +1

@SpeedRunnerLink: That's the work of about a 20 people over the last five years.

    • Curious, why this question? Is there some difference?

      • It's mostly a collectors' "thing":

        • Some people are OFLC-exclusive collectors. If it has an OFLC rating they buy it.

        • Some people are OFLC-exclusive collectors but only buy if it is an OFLC rating printed on the cover and not a stickered PEGI or ESRB release.

        • Some people are OFLC-exclusive collectors but only buy if it is an OFLC rating printed on the cover and not a stickered PEGI or ESRB release and the game card is AUS region (most of our Switch cards are EUR or EUR1)

No material difference between an AUS and EUR card, but if it's an AUS1 or EUR1 card there is a change to the physical card along with updated ROM.

    • Here's a picture of the barcode for my order I just received from Amazon.

Sorry can't tell you the same card suffix as I purchased to keep a sealed copy.

      • Thank you very much for making the effort, mate.

Unfortunately, it doesn't tell us the card ID :-(

Title ID is AAAAA-AUS but card ID could be AAAAA-AUS, AAAAA-AUS1, AAAAA-EUR or AAAAA-EUR1

I'm VERY interested to learn that it's sealed, however! Shrinkwrapped, generic Y-fold or NINTENDO Y-fold with the logo on the pull/cut strip?

        • I'm VERY interested to learn that it's sealed, however! Shrinkwrapped, generic Y-fold or NINTENDO Y-fold with the logo on the pull/cut strip?

I think it might be the generic Y-fold but I'll have a better look tonight and let you know. Did you have a picture for reference?

        • Some Zelda BOTW definitely had copies come sealed in Australia.

My friends copy was sealed but he opened it.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: When did he purchase it? Was it OFLC-rated? Was it a Nintendo seal or generic Y-fold seal?

Note: Up to mid-2017 both sealed and unsealed copies of BOTW were being distributed by Nintendo AU/NZ - many sealed ones were actually stripped from the UK-assembled Collector Edition bundles assembled and sold as standalone games.

            • @[Deactivated]: It was a generic Y fold seal. I think i have a photo of it somewhere before i cracked the seal.

Im very certain as I got a Switch game from Amazon UK and spotted the Nintendo marking around the middle and was like I havent seen that before.

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: [mysterious music plays mysteriously] Thanks mate

  • It's the better Elden Ring everyone!

    • -6

It's like Elden Ring but has worse ratings!

      • +4

Finished both games and can tell you they are nothing alike. End game Elden Ring makes me wonder whether I can even call it an open-world game (not a diss).

        • -5

I was mostly just joking about all the 10/10 reviews for elden ring.

I did really enjoy breath of the wild, but just too cartoony/childish for me. Childish isn't the right word I know, just the first the came to mind. Although I don't like medieval/magic games so I won't even try Elden Ring ;-)

        • How many hours did Elden Ring take you?
Did you 100% it? Considering buying it but I've heard it is epic.

          • @giftcardinspector: Sorry took so long to see this message - took me about 90 hours to platinum the game. Honestly, I felt really burnt out at about hour 70 and just speedran the game after that. Its massively epic world but I have issues with balancing late game (bosses either ridiculously easy, killed in two shots, or ridiculously hard, die in 1 hit regardless of level) as well as how the game rewards you for exploration (it doesn't).

Great great game. Go get it. You'll definitely enjoy it as an experience.

  • +3

    $60 for a 5 year old game πŸ˜‚

    • +2

same goes with Mario kart 8, everyone is still buying it at full price eventho the game is out since WiiU

    • +7

      Welcome to Nintendo!

    • -1

This is Nintendo 1st party titles for you. Other publishers have a reputation for putting games out and those games dropping in price very quickly after release. So consumers expect games to drop in value and hold off purchasing. Nintendo tend to avoid that, and good on them - they are making a killing because they know the value and demand of their games.

    • +1

First time in Nintendo land huh

    • +2

a game you should have bought 5 years ago

  • +2

    Really good game.

    Trust me guys

And it took me 25mins to beat the game

    • +10

      username checks out

  • Don't have a switch yet but tempted to grab it anyway, like I did with Mario all stars.

    • OK, I'll bite. Why?!

      • Probably planning to get a switch at some point

        • I've been holding out for a more powerful switch for a while. I almost pulled the trigger on the latest Switch OLED deal but I'm confident we'll get the more powerful model this year. I figure if nothing is announced by July/August I'll pick up a used original switch (need the tv connectivity) and get the new one whenever it gets released.

EDIT: also mario all stars was cheap and they pulled it from the estore, I wanted to play a few of those titles years ago but never got around to picking them up.

          • +4

@AEKaBeer: It doesn't seem very Nintendo to release a new console 5 months ago and then release something upgraded over that model just a year later. It took them a few years to even release the OLED, which came after the Lite.

            • @ronitdias: I mean they did with the refreshed wii then dropped the wii-u shortly after. My thought process is that games are struggling to maintain 30fps on the switch and the tegra X1 is around 5 years old. Doesn't seem a stretch for them to have something punchier in the works.

          • @AEKaBeer: You can now get a used but as new Switch on gumtree or Facebook market place for like $300 or less then sell it back on Gumtree or Facebook for $250 or so when the rumour pro is out.

          • +3

@AEKaBeer: They have no incentive at all to release a more powerful switch any time soon. They are r aking money in on the current skus, why add extra production and marketing costs - makes no business sense.

            • @phatmike128: Admittedly I'm clutching on this point but the Steamdeck could be a real reason for them to take some action, while a more expensive, it's significantly more powerful has a larger and in general cheaper game library.

Overall I don't disagree, they had the 3DS around for like 9 years before the switch lite officially replaced it. But, there's no harm in waiting a few more months.

              • @AEKaBeer: I was like you and blindly waiting for a console that doesn't exist, but caved when the OLED was released. I can say that my only regret was that I didn't buy a switch sooner.

                • @Moremoremore: I'm tempted but I know how annoyed I'd be if I picked one up only to have a new model announced. I don't know if I'll be able to resist a $400 oled model in between now and July, but I am ok to wait a few more months as the games I really want to play are breathe of the wild, mario rabbits, metroid dread and mario all stars.

They haven't announced a new starfox game have they? That might hit me in the nostalgia gland enough for me to pull the trigger :)

    • that's a waste

  • Is this better than Links Awakening? It's for my nephew.

    • How old is your nephew?

I think its better but i'm biased.

      • He's turning 7
He did ask for Links tho 🀣

Big W has it for $69, same as Amazon. eBay has $5 off for eBay plus tho.

I don't even spend this much on a PS5 game for myself lol

        • +1

This is slightly more difficult and longer game than the Links Awakening IMO. He may need to refer to some walkthrough YouTube videos quite frequently.

        • You can get a copy on used marketplace on FB and gumtree easily for $40 if you don't want to spend that much.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Don't really wanna gift a used copy? I thought about it, but actually alot if people basically want only $10 less.

            • @[Deactivated]: Well if you think about it this way.

Going to watch a movie at the cinemas for 1.5 - 2 hours costs on average around $10-15.

This game will give you easily 100 plus hours or more for $60.

So its not that bad if you think that way.

In addition the time you spent pondering if you should get it you could have done something else to make extra money instead.

Understand if its a big purchase like a house or car but over a game for a measly $10-20?

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: Hahaha, and it's a gift so I don't want it used incase it looks used

Tho, I'm sure the cases look brand new.

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: I agree, but this IS OzBargain after all!

        • I'd say it really depends on the kind of games your nephew is already playing.

Link's Awakening is generally more accessible for younger and relatively inexperienced gamers, as the gameplay is mainly limited to a 2D plane, which means that the player can see all the enemies around their player character on the screen at once.

With a 3D game link BotW, those who are not used to moving the camera around the player character in a 3D environment may struggle with having to keep track of enemies that are outside of their view.

But if he's already playing the likes of Fortnite, Minecraft, and other 3D games, then he could probably handle BotW too.

    • LA is a has a very different game play than BotW. I've played both and enjoyed each but in different ways.

LA has a top down view and is not open world.

One being better than the other? Because they're different, it's a personal choice. I recommend looking at reviews of them on YouTube. I also recommend playing both. πŸ˜€

  • +1

I played this when it came out on Wii U, thinking it's time for a second run through.

Any opinions on whether or not it's worth re-buying for Switch? I do still own the Wii U so could just pull that out from wherever it is tucked away

    • Just buy it finish it and sell it back on Gumtree for like $40 or so.

    • +1

I found being able to jump straight back into the game in seconds made a difference - got 2 minutes to kill, can pull the Switch out of the dock, hit the power button and basically instantly climb this hill to look for a korok then turn it off again. On the Wii U you wouldn't even get the game loaded that quickly.

  • got the big book guide for this its more than worth getting if you get stuck it tells you want to do.

    • you can always search online. You can find an even better way on youtube.

  • you know you're buying into a quality game when it's been out for 5 years but still commands full pricing.

(and still comes up on ozb as a deal)

  • how much are the DLCs?
are they only purchasable on Nintendo eShop?

    • You can purchase a code for the DLCs from EB Games.
