He jumped in his car with his chair and a hat

And his trusty GPS in his hand.

Plugging straight into the car 12volt accessory jack

Yes his GPS with standard text-to-speech feature

  • Interesting poem…

Is the unit any good though?

  • +1

does it tell you the street names? last I bought one from Aldi didn't tell me the street names. So returned it. The software was nice and user friendly though.

edit: the description says, 'spoken street names'

    • With all GPSes only "computer" voices will read out street names. Yours was probably set to a recorded voice rather than a computer voice.

  • ending in 18H from this post. be quick, bought mine on friday. Also its $69.95 on checkout….

  • Rep (Jason?) - are these refurbs or customer returned units (e.g. Aldi returned stock) or are they brand new, never opened units?

  • Just purchased one, i was going to buy one from dealextreme, but i cbb installing new maps in.

  • I'd like to know about map updates since these can be a big regular cost for extensive metro users - not me but I do intend to travel soon Topographic maps would be useful, are they included or what?

  • Is there any warranty on these?

  • Seems a good deal. The data is what makes a GPS, and sensis is as good as it gets. I had a 3-year-old Tomtom. The charger broke (physically weak), the window mount broke, and online mapupdates and software upgrades are a hit-and-miss, with once having to try 10 times before it finished without data corruption.

  • I bought one of these back in Jan when there were $129. I ended up taking it back. Main reason I took it back was the screen was very hard to see in the daylight compared to my Garmin nuvi 4.3 inch unit. (which didn't have bluetooth) and the windscreen mount was very flimsy and use to shake around a bit on the aldi unit. The speaker for both the voice guidence and Bluetooth phone calls sounded very poor also.

I ended up with a 5inch navman My80T which the screen is a lot better but still not as good as the garmin. For this price though i recon it's a good deal. Just my 2 cents worth.

Btw the spoken street names is only available for the Karen voice. All other voices don't do spoken streets.

  • great price, does anyone know if these have AV in for reverse camera input and if it does, would the unit automatically switch when car is put on reverse gear?
Also please mention the AV in connector type thanks?

  • No AV connectors

  • Just ordered. Most of the reviews are positive. People are reflecting a bad voice output.

    • Just got mine, everything looks fine. Just the resolution is a bit disappointing. You get what you paid for.

  • Mine arrived about an hour ago, chalk up another one for Dealfox, outstanding deals & service! :)

I can't see any mention of AV input per se; but there is a COM port that the manual says is "Reserved for other devices (if you want to connect the GPS to other devices)"

    • Mine came this morning.
It was in a box 2-3 times it's size with no packing material.
When I turned it on, there was a light blue column of dead pixels in the middle of the screen.
I've written to dealfox for a replacement, but still waiting for a reply. Anyone had any experience with dealfox faulty product returns?

      • Dealfox paid for the return of the GPS, all I had to do was hand the box into the post office. Received my replacement a week later. The staff are great and really helpful!
