65 Inch (ish) TV - Maximum Budget $2200

Hey Peoples (and others),

This is a slightly more general version of a question I asked on the Sony Bravia XR-65X90J deal post
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689031

Basically I'm after a bigger TV and not sure which way to go.

Mostly used for movies (bd, netflix, disney) particularly, Marvel, SciFi, animated kid stuff. Plus streaming tv

NO real gaming (wii u, might get a switch or more proper console one day but it's not a major consideration)

Always use an entry level receiver for 5.1 sound.

Big windows/bright room BUT 90% viewing at night.

Generally use Chromecast with google home but having it built in seems appealing.

Stepping up from a Hisense 43R6 in that room but have a trusty old plasma in the dark (but small) music room (Panasonic TH-P50ST60A).

My main question is if i go with something like the XR-65X90J am I'm paying for gaming and sound features I'll never use and if that means I should look for something without those selling points?

A cheaper option I am considering is TCL 65C727 but am unlikely to upgrade again in the next 5 years so don't mind spending a little more on quality.

Keen for some input,

Thanks,
Chewbot.

  • if not LG C1, don’t worry.

  • Thanks for reply and forgive my obtuseness.but, do you mean if not getting a ç1 just don't bother getting anything? Or so long as I don't fork out the premium for the c1 I can't go too wrong?
    Or other?
