    Dashpass subscribers only, please update

DoorDash is horrible, DashPass is a complete joke, you have to pay to use this service but do not get free delivery for some deliveries then you still have to pay a service fee.
I have used them twice and that's enough for me.

They are all pretty awful, to be fair

I find Menulog to be the best of all, they have $7 off $15 min spend, this is from restaurants that deliver, no service fee and some of these restaurants offer free delivery over $20.
So I can get a $21 Family Pizza delivered for $14, this is pretty good BUT the store I used to get my pizzas from has taken a dive.

        • +1

I’ve found you end up paying far more than the small savings in extra fees plus jacked up prices compared to in store or old school takeaway prices..

@Tuttle: I did a phone order once (dad story incoming) with a local pizza store that did awesome pizza, picked it up and get home only to find no prawns, I ring the store and a kid answers (probably store owners son) he explained he thought my order was an internet order which came with no prawns as you had to pay extra.
He then gave me a free order next time round which I was grateful for. This was when I realized that online orders were actually going to change the whole quality vs quantity vs price in the near future.
I miss those pizzas, I miss the good ole days.

        • Have you been getting $7 code regularly?

          • @Craze: No it's just recent, it went to $6 then $5 then last week back to $7

        • Yeah, agree they are the best of a bad bunch

    • Second that! I still have to pay delivery fee for multiple groceries shop such as IGA, donut shop etc

    • Minimum spend is $20 for free delivery. Service fee is like GST mate, can't be avoided anymore.

      • +2

Free delivery is only for participating stores, service fee is NOT GST, explain how my $60 order had an $8 service fee attached?
GST is inclusive, not something that randomly gets added on.

        • +1

It's a medaphor, meaning you can't avoid it.
All delivery service have it now, It's a 10% fee.

          • @huey: No that's not a metaphor, far from. You somehow think $8 is 10% of $60?
You can avoid service fees, you just don't use DD, simple.

    • +1

do not get free delivery for some deliveries then you still have to pay a service fee.

Same as Deliveroo and Uber Eats's equivalent subs then…

      • Menulog has none of this bs when it comes to transparency. $7 off min $15 spend, was $6 went down to $5 with participating orders. Restaurants that deliver to you rather than Menulog and you have a great deal.
I got $50 worth of Chinese other night, it felt like 3 side orders worth $10 each, the whole home delivery is a rort.

        • Give Menulog some time to catch up, I'm sure they will

          • @MBix: I don't think they will, I think they will sit back and get more customers by doing what they're doing now, which is fair value for their service.

            • @[Deactivated]: I think you'll find they've already been doing it. They previously advertised that fact, now have variable delivery fees based on order price, and even threads on here indicating as such https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/643895

I wouldn't think it beyond any of these companies

              • @MBix: Oh they do have service fees but you can avoid them by using the restaurants that deliver instead, and then use the $7 min $15 spend, then get free delivery for orders over $20 and over with some restaurants.
Service fees are a joke, are they trying to tell us that the delivery fee goes 100% to the driver? Highly doubt it.

    • Not as good as my jokes

I have made the decision that unless I'm drunk, I will pick up the food myself. It's fresher, hotter and cheaper.

    • +2

spot on, why pay a premium for cold food. these online providers will slowly die out with extra service fees, poor delivery times and cold food.

Doordash should be banned from ozbargain!

    • I'm probably going to call Margaret Fulton and ask what she thinks.

I can’t add anymore Revolut virtual cards

  • Already have dashpass through the afterpay 3 months trial, but getting this error message:
"Unfortunately, this promotion is only for current DashPass subscribers. Sign up for DashPass to take advantage of this and many other benefits!"

    • Same error this side, started 30 days dashpass trial but no luck.
