  • Is it worth it on switch? Gaming on big screen is hard with kids, but i feel like the switch port would be underwhelming

    • Not really a graphically amazing game. Switch version would benefit from handheld mode I guess.

    • Had the same question. Normally get the Xbox version. But at this price can get both!
Switch games are never this cheap!

Switch games are never this cheap

Yep, not surprising. On the Switch, a recent-ish AAA game for $20 is a rare bargain to jump on.

On PC and consoles, it's just an every-other-month ho-hum usual-discount price

The Switch really struggles with this game.

Hand-held it's great. Docked it jumps between 15 - 30fps and looks terrible.

I should point out that I played through this on XSX and Switch. Played hand-held on Switch while travelling, then switched to Xbox while playing at home. You can easily transfer your save between any platform.

  • It's a bit ugly looking on switch, but it's perfectly playable

  • Just bought this less than 2 weeks ago for $29 from Amazon! Good thing Amazon was willing to issue a $10 credit for the price drop. :)

    • How? I thought they don't do that

    • Amazon doesn’t credit for price drops unfortunately. You need to buy it again and return the original purchase and they will refund it after. Annoying process but same result in the end.

      • No they don’t, but they offer a “one-time” promotional credit instead.

Not for two weeks ago though. That was rare as

          • @justtoreply: I even had success claiming the credit for I think about a month after the purchase. They will most likely offer the credit as long as it's within the return period. As always, YMMV.

  • How difficult is this game? I havent played BOTW and im aware of the similarities. But I did the trial for Monster Hunter rises and it was tooo difficult for me and I like Hob! Based on this, can anyone advise where it stands in regards to difficulty/complicatedness of controls? MHR was just too convoluted for me and the one week trial put me off from actually buying the game.

It's really nothing like BOTW IMO. It's more like any other 'open world' Ubi game, just with cartoony graphics and terrible dungeon design. I wanted to like it but the dungeon design was just a deal breaker

I would suggest checking out some gameplay on YouTube to see if it's something you'd like. If you've never played something like Zelda before, I would imagine you may run into difficulty with combat and some of the dungeons. The controls itself I feel like are easy enough - slash with sword, dodge, shield. But then there's a lot of different weapons and abilities and you farm for resources to upgrade as you progress.

But there's difficultly settings so you can try out easy mode.

I also found monster hunter rise way too hard. I loved elements of it, walking around, fighting stuff, but the plethora of weapons and add-ons, just too much for me who can only ever play a game 1hr at a time, a few times a month. I think I'll get the Street Fighter deal instead!

  • Balan Wonderworld is $10

    • +1

From reading there might be a reason for that.

Looks like a hard pass. Even for $10 not worth your time.

  • I was surprised to have really enjoyed this game (played on xbox), it definitely filled a small part of my desire to play BOTW in high res @ 60 .. (sadly it looks like Nintendo aren't interested in that)

Wasn't hard, but a good 'zone out and complete tasks' kinda game. I think I put around 60 hours into it doing loads of extra stuff.

If you already own Breath of the Wild, it's perfectly ethical (and legal, depending how you do it) to play it in 1080p (or better) at 60FPS (or better) on a PC using the Cemu emulator.

It does take an hour to set it all up for the first time (but then so does unpacking a console, setting it up, and installing the first updates) but it's the best way to play it by miles. An amazing experience.

Just a heads up, JB HIFI has the same deal - $19 and they have Switch stock. I just ordered online for pickup, plenty of stock even in the heart of Sydney.
