I know people hate on it, but because of these freebies i haven’t bought a new game on PC in years.

I fooled myself once and I bought the latest Tomb Raider on Steam, the same year it was free on Epic.

    • +2

you missing out then there are so many PC games that are good that you need to pay for.

      • +17

Sure, but if you are in no hurry to play them there are plenty from years gone by too.

        • +4

I have over 2000 PC games over a course of almost 20 years. there has been big box games but most of them I had to repurchase in my steam library because of no supported updates for the disc version I have so many PC games now that I often will see a game to buy and I will already have it.. Years of games from humble buddle as well

@kungfuman: I just wish these free games were a thing when i was a kid. I saved for ages to get new games then and played the same ones over and over. Now I get all the games I want for free and have no time to play them

@bgbrendan: There were a few if you grew up in the 90's. I got battlefield 2 from pizza hut, age of empires from nutrigrain cereal, the full version of Driver from a PC powerplay mag.

Nothing like what epic and steam do though!

I add the free game every week and sometimes think about giving it a go. Then I open Elden Ring again.

      • For me it's Hades. Will I ever tire of a game that gives me such satisfaction 30 minute runs at a time?

    • +4

You're right but is that a truly a good thing though? The value of games dropping to almost nothing can't be good for the industry. As an ozbargainer in current year though it is quite nice.

      • +5

Industry is making more money than it ever has

      • These are old titles, they aren't exactly flying off the shelves (metaphorically) i'd say the majority of purchases of these old titles are on 50%/75% off sales anyway.

It's the new release titles that make the industry the most money. I bet the majority of people who made those games are not even working at the same company anymore.

I got all these freebies but then had to buy a computer to play them :(

    • Time is money, I would rather spend money and play games that I love rather than spend it on games that are free.

City of Brass is very cool. It's a lot of challenge to beat it and there is variation is gameplay, every time you fail on the level (things and enemies are moved around).

This week's freebie isn't free yet. Can we hold out on the posts until the current deal is active?

    • +7

I think it's OK as it may save someone from buying the game it they don't mind playing on Epic.

    • +7

Use the Reminder option under the post body to remind you of the deal on the start date

  • +2

Total War: Warhammer is good, 3 is also on GamePass which I've just fired up.

  • +5

City of Brass has previously been given away on Epic in 2019.

So many of you may already have it.

  • No deals for Ghostwire: Tokyo (PC) yet?

  • +4

Total War: Warhammer was also given away previously here:

    • Ahhh! I wondered where I'd seen it as a freebie before!

      • Yes, I was just checking City of Brass and thought I might as well check Warhammer while I was at it. There she was. I've only bought a couple of games on Epic so had to go back and see how I got it.

    • +1

      Thats awesome.

    • Thank you Wakrak, I have both of today's games but not these addons :)

  • Repeat freebie next week.

  • Dam the repeats are happening more often now. I just want to see my library number go up, not that I will ever play most of them.

  • Thanks @dealbot! Sorry I always forget to upvote. Found the setting that opens deals in a new window. :-)

I'm going to have fun playing all these free games… one day…

  • Will this let me play Mortal Engine on Steam Totalwar Warhammer II?

    • +1
      • mortal empires

Looks like it doesn't. Steam requires both game to be active in the steam account to open Mortal Empires.

Can I purchase DLC for Total War: WARHAMMER games I own on one store on another (and vice versa)?

Currently it’s not possible to track the different Total War: WARHAMMER content you own across different storefronts. So, for example, if you buy Total War: WARHAMMER on the Epic Games Store, you will also need to buy the DLC on the Epic Games Store in order to use it.

The same applies for claiming the free combined map DLC – you would need to own both Total War: WARHAMMER and Total War: WARHAMMER II on the same store in order to claim it.

  • The 30th Anniversary Regiments Of Rebown pack is also free for Total War: Warhammer @ Total War Access.

    1) Login
    2) Click "Regiments Of Renown"
    3) Click Epic to claim DLC.
    4) Link your Epic account if you haven't already.
If you have the game on Steam, you can get this DLC for Steam as well.

NOTE: DLC won't show in Epic launcher. You can only check if you got the content or not if you play the game.
